On December 10, Ontario teenager Aqsa Parvez was murdered by her father, allege Canadian investigators, over her refusal to wear the hijab, the traditional head scarf worn by Muslim women. The story has caught fire on the Web, particularly among bloggers interested in news pertaining to radical Islam.
As horrifying as the story is, it was only given five paragraphs on page A23 of the December 12 Washington Post, and that from a Reuters story. What's more, Post editors served up readers a bland headline that failed to hint that a religious reason was behind the violence: "Canadian Teen Dies; Father Is Charged."

BIG SURPRISE "NOT"
December 12, 2007 - 14:50 ET by American TaxpayerWhy would anyone be surprised that the liberal left wing propaganda machine that calls itself the New York Post is altering the news in thier own political mold yet again. They are obviously out of touch with the reality that the average American circumvents them to find out what the actual news really is. Once the advertisers realize that circulation is down because credibility is down they will have less money. Economics 101....Hey N.Y.P try reporting the news instead of making it, or would that be too much like actually doing your job? See you in the unemployment line....
Dang Liberals
December 12, 2007 - 14:54 ET by Maverick313It's amazing how the liberal media will downplay a travesty of this magnitude because the offender is Islamic, but would have assigned a showy title to it had the offender been of any other nationality. The muslims are coddled way too much... not all of them are going to set a bomb off.
If the muslims want to be treated differently from the normal citizen's then we should punish them as they would be in their own country. With beheadings, taking of an arm or eye... the list could go on. They shouldn't be treated any differently than you or I. What this guy did is abominable and he should have to have a slow, agonizing death.
If you don't stand behind our troops; please feel free to stand in front of them!

December 12, 2007 - 22:00 ET by liberal_bug_zapperWhile I agree that the coverage is heinous, I think you should proof read your posts before adding them to the site. Islam is not a nationality... no matter how much they want a worldwide caliphate.
Catholic priests get demonized for allegedly diddling young boys (those that have done it deserve life in prison as far as I am concerned), and the story goes on for months, years and even decades. Yet this girl is killed for not wearing a scarf and not even a mention of the reason why.
And then they go on to say they're helping the kids to learn about other cultures with things like black history month... what a bunch of BS!!! What are they going to do to protect muslim women who refuse to do as their husbands or fathers command? Institute a strict scarf rule??? I mean hey... that would keep the girls and women alive wouldn't it?
Has anyone mentioned yet how stupid liberals are? No??? Ok, well they are extremely stupid.

I think we all know we have
December 12, 2007 - 17:03 ET by Gary P JacksonI think we all know we have a difficult problem, because of our Constitution's First Amendment. By that I mean because of religious freedom, it will be hard to battle radical Islam in this country.
It is a solution we must work toward though. As more and more Muslims settle here, and try to live like they did in the "old Country", we will see more and more of these "honor killings".
What is puzzling (not really) is the fact you are hearing nary a peep from the usual suspects on the left. Where's all of the feminists? Where's the gals from NOW? Where's Susan Sarandon? Where's Hillary?
Answer: They are all afraid of the same treatment!
We aren't just at war in a few countries, we are at war with an entire ideology, this is a war between civilizations, and the quicker we and our leaders understand that, the better.
Sadly, this will be a long bloody affair, but if we don't eradicate the "religion of peace" the world as we know it will cease.
Shame on anyone who buys
December 12, 2007 - 22:16 ET by Atomic CrusaderShame on anyone who buys that paper. What a completely immoral and sick publication it is, among other MSM entities, which are the true scourge and and source of tyranny in our society today. The Washington Post bears responsibility for that poor girls death by reporting it in such a dishonest manner. Absolutely disgraceful.
Sticking with stories
December 13, 2007 - 00:13 ET by umpeteSadly, the media gives these stories the obligatory one-day coverage, then let them fade away. This is truly where the media fail our country. They need to seriously follow-up these stories with investigations about why the crimes occur. Muslims who condone these actions need to have their feet held to the fire for long periods of time, so the public gets overwhelmed the nastiness of their religion's actions. When the media is willing to take that step, they will again gain the respect of many, many Americans.
Popes used to order
December 13, 2007 - 00:19 ET by TruthMongerPopes used to order assassinations - and priests would carry them out - just following their religion...
Interpretation is a whacky thing - Christians, Muslims, Jews all suffer from mis-understandings of the rules...
Many Christians here seem to feel "less sinful" then the other sinners on planet earth - I'm sure God just smiles...
Christians have moderated alot over the centuries - and now Muslims are becoming more moderate as well - relatively quickly - I suggest we try to help them along by acknowledging this and partnering with the "healthier" Muslims that are starting to develop around the world - they are trying to improve their faith - they have their dangerous radicals just like Christians do at this same point in history - they just have alot more right now...
There you go...

"You're either part of the solution or part of the problem"
I have an interpretation...
December 13, 2007 - 15:24 ET by SFCMACMuslims becoming moderate??? You've GOT to be kidding. Where are the so-called moderate muslims? I want to see the phantom majority of those who repudiate the mere notion of Islamic 'supremacy’. I mean by the millions; not a scant letter, post, or rare website. Take to the streets. Show up at the college campuses where Islamofascism has become part of the curriculum. Confront CAIR. Join the GWOT by taking up arms against the al Qaeda and Taliban. And while they’re at it, spread reform across the Middle East, Northern Africa, Indonesia, and Asia. Tell them they can bow to Mecca all f**ckin’ day if they wish. Just do it peacefully and quit with the terrorism just because the rest of us don’t follow suit.
Then, I might buy what you’re selling.
