CBSNews.com Employs Scary Graphic to Tease Gun Ban Court Story

Photo of Ken Shepherd.

Teasing a story about the Supreme Court agreeing to hear an appeal concerning the Washington, D.C. handgun gun and whether it violates the 2nd Amendment's protection of an individual's right to keep and bear arms, CBSNews.com employed an ominous-looking graphic on its home page.

Pictured at right is the CBS/AP graphic showing in the foreground a right hand grasping a handgun, with an outline of the continental United States overlaid atop an American flag. Superimposed on the map and flag are the concentric circles of a shooting target. The corresponding story can be found here.

By contrast, ABCNews.com chose for its front page and story a graphic depicting a handgun beneath the seal of the United States Supreme Court (shown below the fold):

While the Democrats aborted babies

While Teddy Kennedy was so money piped into aborticide, the real battle has been over the Second Ammendment which the cartels have been overtly and covertly attacking American rights to firearms.

This site has not even bothered to record the attacks by the BATF on small firearms dealers in shutting them down. Newspaper accounts are full of small shops being harrassed out of existence. The United States has lost tens of thousands of dealers in the past years.

Next in line has been the cartel bogus claim to lead shot which was the first "global warming" bovine scat. The cartel allowed the Soviets to buy the known lead supply in the world during the Carter years....and then switched American shot shells to steel which drove a huge segment of firearms owners off the market.
The final assault has been high firearms prices, shutting down affordable imports the ruination of Winchester and the raising of license fees so poor people who are the rural backbone of firearms ownership stop hunting and teaching their children to hunt.

Certainly 9 11 was a boon to the firearms ownership as soccer mom's went out and bought guns, but the globalists figured out long ago and people like Al Cuppett of the fringe radio scene were talking of gun confiscation.........when the cartel decided a decade ago to ruin firearms access, affordability and use and that is how you disarmed America without firing a shot......and it does not matter what the Supreme Court has done.

A great percentage of this has gone under George W. Bush who is supposed to be a friend of the 2nd Ammendment, but if Bush nor Cheney did not reign in the draconian tactics of BATF.......then just who is in charge of the executive?

My sincerest hope is those 5 gentlemen named Conservative on th Supreme Court toss out gun bans in DC as unconstitutional.
The NRA has done nothing but whine, Congressional GOP and bogus Democrats have done nothing and Bush has done nothing.

I will remind bloggers here that the United States IN OUR FOUNDING used to BUY GUNS FOR POOR CITIZENS who could not afford them.
That is one welfare program I will heartily support.

God help the Supreme Court to uphold the deuce ammendment.......and it is past time people start discussing what is really going on beyond the goofy liberal rants each day.

Hear, hear. Forget 911, I

Hear, hear.

Forget 911, I dial 10MM.

No doubt it's an individual right

I'd like to direct your attention to this document:  http://www.usdoj.gov/olc/secondamendment2.pdf

It's the Dept of Justice's own research and position on the 2nd Amendment, and its detail is breathtaking. I strongly encourage EVERYONE with a passion for our Constitution, the 2nd Amendment, and for our history as a nation to take the time to read all 107 pages.

Understanding what's been written in this document can help us avoid drawing incorrect conclusions based on today's interpretation of the original language - to really understand the original intent, based on thorough and sound research.

I think it should become a standard starting point for any discussion.

As for the media's fearmongering use of graphics and imagery - why am I not surprised? But if THEY were to read this document, I'd bet we'd hear a deafening silence from that corner for awhile.

Am I taking crazy pills, or

Am I taking crazy pills, or is the issue about disarming private citizens? To me, the whole thing with Federalist Papers and ultimately the Constitution, is all about power and privacy to the people. Even the amendments lay out all of the many different freedoms people have over the government.

Now they want to take away the second amendment? People aren't automatically revolting?

Am I in a parallel universe where my laundry washes itself and people are so unwilling to challenge the government to retain the rights of the people? My laundry is still in the hamper so no, let's get our collective acts in gear.

I am very worried about

I am very worried about what the Supreme Court decides on this...only a few real Constitutionalists there.

By the way, of course there is going to be major bias in the msm with this subject, graphics and all...the leftists are never going to quit.

Finger on gun?

Well, the CBS graphic could have been worse...at least the finger wasn't inside the trigger guard. ;)

Forget 911, I dial 10MM.

fossten... LOL...great

fossten...

LOL...great point you make there...great point indeed.

Scary Graphic

Ironic isn't it, that a child in today's government-run schools would be sent to the Principal's office, dosed with Ritalin, interviewed by a child shrink, incarcerated then expelled for bringing that very graphic to any school?
Yes, I'm exaggerating a bit, but not too much.

The propogandist nature of that picture is astounding. Right out of Psyops 101.

}}---> Gun Ban nonsense

Isn't it sad something stated as clearly as our Second Amendment right is even in question?

And like a bunch of losers we will cheer if the Court maintains the status quo.  Isn't there some psychological term for this?  Like negative reinforcement or something like that?

What a stupid progression of thought we have going here.

  • Law abiding citizens can't have guns
  • Thugs couldn't care less about such laws
  • Cops see rise in violent crime
  • Must be the gun laws.
