CBS's Storm Blogs About Toby Keith, Actually Praises His Patriotism

As a country music fan, it often frosts me to flip open the pages of a newspaper and read snide, left-of-center snark from music reviewers about the right-leaning, patriotic sentiments of country musicians. Toby Keith, in particular, has been a favorite target of liberal journalists, although the tide's been turning a bit of late.

So here's something that might just end up "Shock'n Y'All": CBS "Early Show" co-anchor Hannah Storm praising Keith's patriotism, work ethic, and talent in a September 24 blog post:

Keith is the first guy I ever interviewed in country music, and what you see is what you get with the former roughneck from Oklahoma. (That's someone who works on an oil rig by the way). Keith has an amazing connection with his audience and kept up a steady stream of no-holds-barred dialogue between performing his hard driving brand of country music. At one point, Keith proclaimed, "I don't sing many love songs, so let's get this over with" and that's about the only time he slowed down. Somehow his covering Ted Nugent’s "Strange Hold" at the end of the show did not seem out of place.

The uber-confident Keith does what he wants, pulls no punches and takes the fans along on a great ride. As far as I could tell, no one sat down for the entire two hours! And on multiple occasions, Keith insisted he is not about politics, but simply pro-USA and a supporter of those who devote their lives to ensuring our freedom. Its not an empty proclamation -- Keith has a rare devotion to the troops, playing not just in large secure bases overseas, but often to small groups of soldiers close to the front lines. Somehow all the pyrotechnics and confetti and clever videos of his stage show do not overshadow the fact that this is a guy who genuinely loves what he does and loves his country.

Now I'm not saying, "It's All Good" with Storm's record on bias, but once in a blue moon it's good to see something good shine through.

Unless I am mistaken, Toby

Unless I am mistaken, Toby Keith, while being completely supportive of our military and the A-stan war, has expressed some misgivings about Iraq ... Yet, this man has said them quietly and stresses them to be just his opinions. He has NEVER sounded unAmerican when voicing them either ... NEVER missing a beat in his patriotism and support for our military.

Patriotic Dissent ... How it's REALLY done.

I think it's fair to say

I think it's fair to say Keith thinks he thinks Iraq has diminished our ability to "put a boot in" Taliban a**. But you're right, he doesn't always agree with Bush and is a registered Democrat but he loves and supports the troops and he wouldn't go overseas and smear the president or lament American foreign policy a la Dixie Chicks.

At least

They let Toby go. Not all entertainers the soldiers might want to see are so-lucky, despite a valiant attempt...

 ... he wouldn't go

... he wouldn't go overseas and smear the president or lament American foreign policy a la Dixie Chicks.

Which was part of the reason for the TK/French Hens squabble a couple years ago, I believe.  (NOT a big follower of music in general, and only caught briefly the tension between the *2* during a country music awards show ... In which the head Hen wore a shirt that said `F U TK' ... Perhaps someone here more in the know than me could address the row ...)

Toby Keith is from my home

Toby Keith is from my home town. What is discribed as "The ultra conservative..." community. This is where he was raised. Went to HS with my oldest boy and girl and middle boy. He has done us proud.

BTW..his early misgivings of Iraq were dispelled after his first trip there and he had a chance to talk to those folks who were involved.

Save a SeAL, club a liberal!!

Toby Keith Democrat

I heard him tell either Sean Hannity or Bill O'Reilly that he was a democrat. Nothing wrong with that because he acts more like the old conservative democrat I remember growing up.

A bona fide and certified member of the beer guzzling, NASCAR watching middle class.

"Strange Hold"???

Maybe Hannah should do a little more research?

For her transgression,

For her transgression,   Hannah Storm (who used to do the traffic and weather in Houston on 97.5 rock) who went against the liberal establishment, will be banished to some far off desk job never to be heard of again.  The liberal 11th commandment is never praise or agree with a conservative, of any stripe.

Storm was not praising Keith, but wants the bad boy

Liberal women are worse than all women in always having an agenda. Hannah Storm could care less about patriotism. If you notice Storm used the uber word to denote her appreciation of a bad boy fascist who does what he wants.........a not so subtle plug that America needs not just a crying fascist like Clinton to knock women around but a real bad boy in charge to knock women around and tell them they love it.

Storm wants Keith to dirty her up. It is her overt praise in public come on to him. I have blogged here before of this liberal woman psychopathy in begging for a real man to come and put a broom in their hand and tell them what to think. Rush Limbaugh aired a wonderful live segment on such a liberal woman when he bullied her and she went from shouting to coo'ing over Limbaugh being a strong male to her.
This is why liberal women can not get towels on their heads fast enough bowing to Islamothugs.

So this is not about patriotism or this "country sound" which is nothing but Conway Twitty low grade rock n roll which Atlantic would have laughed at 40 years ago. From the yelling tight wad jean boys like Keith to the croch queens of Twain and Dixie, this sound has no soul like Mother Maybell and the Carters nor has an inkling of heart like Hank Williams Sr.

I wouldn't want that coke head Johnny Cash nor that drunk Hank Williams Sr. in my house, but they at least understood music and construction of sound. They suffered and mourned for their music like the early rockers did in being all based in the blues. None of the sounds today know anything of music and those who call it that are dumping their money for a corporate image product that will fade as all the sounds sound the same.

Toby Keith, I have no idea if he has the gonads to watch my back again in the sand hills of Iraq if I were to go there as talking tough on stage is not the same of being shot over a little bit........but just like that schooling make a man out one............a little bit of knowledge in world battle chess makes allot of Americans dead.

Keith's doubts and his wavering for Bush after he was the one chanting for knocking the h*ll out of Muslims has no world view and is as big an asset to terrorists as the Dixie Chicks now. Keith has no idea of 5 year battle plans nor for a 10 year doctrine like Bush has been implementing to keep a coming Eurasian World War III from being fought in the heart of Europe and the southern US and into Alaska.

That is what "doubtful Iraq" was half about along with Afghanistan keeping more al Qaeda nuclear bombs from showing up in America and this time not just killing a few Muslim with radiation poisoning but millions of real Americans.

I have no appreciation for country sound nor what they pedal as rock sound as it has no soul and the people in it have no brains. So Toby can be praised by Hannah Storm in her storm trooper fantasy, but Tobe can do us all a favor and leave Nugent's music alone as that is at least blues rock yet........but Tedly can't keep his moral values in his pants either in cheating on his wife as they profess God, guns and country.

Just what America doesn't need. More uber fascists followed by cheering masses.
