MTV.com Rocks... to the Beat of Anti-war Drummers

It's not very surprising coming from the same guys that tried to scare young voters in 2004 with fears of the military draft, but Human Events online producer Ericka Andersen takes a look at the left-wing, anti-war in Iraq slant of MTV.com's political news section:

Not that I expected MTV to be fair and balanced but this is ridiculous. I checked out the MTV site after seeing their recent commercials featuring two musicians strumming along to Spanish music in a cool setting to cool music with two cool looking Latin folks. But the wordless tone is clearly MTV's embrace of illegal immigration. Though they did provide different viewpoints to choose from on the immigration debate on the politics section of their web site, the same could not be said for coverage of the Iraq War.

When you enter the think:Politics section of MTV.com, you can choose to to click Iraq: Take a Stand. Then, there are two sections -- one for if you support the war, one if you do not. The section labeled "If you are against the war" features six different websites and resources to choose from. The section labeled "If you are for the war" lists only one.

"Against the war" says, "If you are against the war, help ensure that the new Congress gets the message by spreading the word far and wide. Start by checking out these organizations."

"For the war" says, "There are few formal grassroots organizations that have taken the lead in advocating war with Iraq. There are, however, multiple ways to demonstrate support for the troops overseas or for the Bush Administration's policies."

[...]

They ask for suggestions, etc. on other websites or information readers might want to add. But just as easily as they conjured up six anti-war websites, they could have found five more pro-war sites as well. How about Vets for Freedom, Victory Caucus, Freedom's Watch or Appeal for Courage?

MTV, some of your viewers are in Iraq right now. Why don't you give their cause a fair shot?

MTV sucks

First, MTV used to be great when it focused on music videos.

Second, what the heck?...why do they have a political section?

Third and best, if you go to Iraq: Take a Stand...under the In Favor section...it has the information link, but then it also has links to join one of the branches of the military. Wow!!! So, if you are in favor of something, MTV suggests that you must be a willing participant. So, to support homosexuality I suppose MTV feels you must experience it.

Young Artist in Need of Brain

It is always puzzling when you find artists like Ted Nugent who likes shooting things to Kurt Russell who likes the same and then you find Dixie Chicks, MTV, Jon Stewart etc... Meathead....etc....

For some reason the people who create things lack the ability to reason cause and effect. Look at little money bags Nobel who made a dynamite discovery, lived in luxury, had millions, but then sitting alone started taking responsibility in guilt for others blowing each other up with his product.

By comparison, Mr. Kalishnakov of Russia is quite pleased with his artistic design of German and American weaponry into the AK 47 blowing the bajesus out of millions of people........but then there is Oppenheimer Daddy Nukes betraying America and giving nuke technology to the Soviets out of guilt.

Young singers, poets, actors and inventors in majority seem to have a great deal of heart, but a definite need of a brain to reason......but then like Ron Silva having reality on 9 11 scared into him all of a sudden learns to love the bomb like Dr. Strangelove. I in no way slam Mr. Silva as I savour his acting ability like Martin Sheen, but alas Mr. Sheen is still living in goofball haven like all the other little munchkins in the munchkins patch.

One could take a cheap shot at MTV like it is Moron TV, but then it might be Kalishnakov in nature.

Perhaps old friend history might be the best guide for the MTV crowd. Col. Charles Askins related in his hunting trips that Spain had a solution under Franco in dealing with artistic types in search of a brain.

Franco simply put them all in the army, sent them to Spanish Africa and it was amazing after 3 years in dust, boredom, natives and filth that all those children came home adults. They weren't in Dire Straits anymore wanting their MTV, but were just glad to be home and letting the government protect them and run the nation.

I hope I do not have to explain the above like I did once before in a play on words to some liberal bloggers who did not get the point.

Vote Or Die

Those three words should say everything you should know about MTV and their views. More do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do liberals.

"For the war" says, "There are few formal grassroots organizations that have taken the lead in advocating war with Iraq. We will be to busy wallowing in our moderation."

TWIB Note...

I'm actually an acquaintance of the editorial director for MTV News online. Back at our old college newspaper, I gave him his first (unpaid) editorial duties.

So, uh, sorry.

(Kidding. He was always a decent fella. I never thought of him as being political one way or another. But who knows what a decade in that environment may have wrought.)
