Cry me a river. It appears that Slate's Dahlia Lithwick was driven to tears by the Supreme Court nomination hearings, according to Christina Bellantoni of the Washington Times:
"I covered those confirmation hearings. I went home at night in tears.
It was awful."-- Dahlia Lithwick, Slate.com's Supreme Court reporter, talking at a Yearly Kos breakout session about the Senate's confirmation of Alito and Roberts and Democrats being too soft in their questioning.

Oh, and on a related note, Time magazine is spending money to wine and dine the Kossacks.

Too Soft?
August 3, 2007 - 16:35 ET by KJ_sezMethinks Dahlia - like all Libocrats - is a bit too soft in the head, especially in the memory department. I guess the Senate was just tossing softballs at Clarence Thomas and (unconfirmed) Robert Borke? Maybe it's that there were no facts presented that would have made Alito and Roberts objectionable candidates for the offices they now hold (except for their pesky tendency to not mistake the U.S. Constitution for the Communist Manifesto).
Cossack
August 3, 2007 - 21:18 ET by Lame CherryIn the good old days of not 50 years ago, court nominees never appeared before Congress EVER. There were no questions to them ever.
When it started out in appearances the nominees were just up there to take pictures. Then this chirade started of character assassination.
Bush should have said that to Congress in his nominations. Vote on them up or down as there are not going to be any more high tech lynchings of anyone.
*Lastly, I take great offense these fearful bed wetters of KOS have taken the name Kossacks for Cossacks.
Cossacks were of thee most elite cavalry warriors in the world. They were in the class of the plains Indians Comanchee and the Army of the Republics cavalry.
There is no liberal who could ever be termed real military, real horsemen, real cavalry or real warriors. The closest thing would not be a K for Cossack but a B for Slav in their being Slobs.
