Fox News Follies: Shep Smith Ad Libs During Fire Alarm

Photo of Ken Shepherd.

Nothing biased here, just an amusing video to kick off your weekend. Yesterday shortly after 3:30 p.m. Eastern on "Studio B," Fox News anchor Shep Smith cracked up his guests and crew by joking about the all-too-frequent incidence of false fire alarms at Fox News Headquarters in New York.

Enjoy the YouTube video embedded below the fold.

When we move this program to the newsroom, I called it. First of all I said, the overhead pagers. 'Please return video tape 3134 to the playback center.' And then I said that fire alarm will go off. There's no fire! There's never a fire in here. But they go off, and in just a minute, some dude on like the 50th floor will come on, and he'll go, 'Hello, this is the fire warden. Nothing weird has happened. There is a lady stuck in the toilet on the 31st floor,' and the fire alarms will go off for three more hours...

Priceless!

Priceless! thanks (;~> gh

Good on his feet

Shep is pretty good ad-libbing and thinking on his feet. Most of the time, he is really funny too. He needs to stay away from certain events though (like his Katrina fiasco), but overall -- not bad. And this video was great.

"Nothing biased

"Nothing biased here..."

Ken,

Thank goodness you put in that disclaimer. Otherwise Balboa and a few other "no bias here" protesters would have popped in to scold you. Heck, they still might, as they do this automatically...

Trust me, it's the complaint that annoys me most.

If I had a dollar for every time I heard it, well, I could buy a nice lunch. I haven't heard it that much. But still...

I don't get it. Is there

I don't get it. Is there some inherent bias in the acknowledgment of fire alarms? Is that strictly a liberal trait? What, conservatives don't fall for the ol' fire alarm gag? COME ON!

(...just kidding, didn't want you to think I'd missed this one.)

;-)

same old same old..

Too funny, nice to have some comic relief on a hectic Friday. I was at our soon to be opened- but already opened- Super Walmart yesterday afternoon and the fire alarm went off. Nobody flinched and the place was really busy. I got to a more secluded area and saw an employee who saw me (shock of all shocks) she says its nothing really. I thought do I look scared? It took about 3-4 minutes before someone came over the P.A. and announced the alarm was being tested.. yep that dispelled the mass hysteria! <snort>

I hate when they test the alarms here at work, it wakes me up.
