Is Malia Obama Lena Dunham’s new intern? The media sure think so.

Celebrity sites recently spotted 17-year-old Malia Obama on location during the filming of HBO’s Girls in Brooklyn and hyped her internship with the show. Written and directed by Lena Dunham, the show boasts sex and nudity – but that didn’t stop the media from praising the “cool” first daughter’s “dream internship.”

At the job prospect, the media applauded Malia’s decision.

“Malia Obama landed the dream internship of a lifetime this summer — working with Lena Dunham,” US Magazine’s Joyce Chen hyped.

Similarly, MTV’s Amanda Bell wrote. “[O]h, the perks of being the President’s daughter — chumming with Lena Dunham on the set of HBO’s ‘Girls.’”

Entertainment blogger Perez Hilton chimed in, “We can't wait to see Malia climb up the Hollywood ladder and hopefully one day run a show of her own — which could be a coming of age series about a teenage girl living a privileged yet secluded adolescence in the White House, only yearning to be a ‘normal’ teenager.”

“We'd totally watch that,” he added.

For Yahoo!, Rachel Bertsche’s headline read, “Malia Obama Snags Cool Summer Internship” while Gawker’s Brendan O’Connor gushed, “Cool Teen Malia Obama Is a Girls Intern.”

In contrast, USA Today’s Maeve McDermott called the move an “a recipe for outrage from the right” and declared, “Fox News will have a field day.”

Wonder why?

HBO’s Girls isn’t exactly a family-friendly show. Characters casually mention abortion (“I can’t go for a run because I had an abortion”) and engage in explicit sex positions, such as Allison Williams’ infamous anal-oral sex scene. Show creator/star Lena Dunham relishes in being frequently nude; she boasted in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, “There’s not one guy who works on that show who hasn’t seen the inside of my vagina.” Not to mention Dunham’s jokes that Republicans are basically Nazis.

Dunham also made headlines in 2014 after her book, Not That Kind of Girldescribed Dunham inappropriately touching her younger sister when they were both children.

Outside of Girls, Dunham loves inserting abortion into media projects, including:

Dunham is a fan of Malia, tweeting in 2013:

And, now, it would seem, Malia is a fan of Dunham.

Malia brings experience to the show, having interned for Halle Berry’s CBS show Extant last summer.
