Whoopi Goldberg Decries Anti-Palin Vitriol

Sarah Palin found an unlikely voice defending her from constant vicious attacks on the left, "View" co-host Whoopi Goldberg. On the October 15 edition, in sharing her experience meeting John McCain and Sarah Palin, Elisabeth Hasselbeck expressed regret about all of the hate the Alaska governor recieved and added, "she’s a good woman and regardless of what you think, she is."

Whoopi Goldberg surprisingly concurred noting past attacks on Hillary Clinton, decried such attacks on Sarah Palin observing a pattern of vitriol towards strong women. When Joy Behar attempted to play the equivocation game, holding Governor Palin responsible for words from one random supporter, Whoopi replied "that doesn’t justify crappy behavior from anybody."Whoopi continued noting "everybody when you meet them as something redeeming." Joy then retracted with a weak, "I’ll accept that."

If "The View" moderator did not surprise enough, she countered Joy when Joy blamed the "mess" on Bush and Republicans. Whoopi declared "all of Washington has a hand on this," reminding Joy that Democrats controlled Congress for the last two years and neither party has "been able to get jack booty done."

The relevant transcript follows.

ELISABETH HASSELBECK: You know what’s interesting, for all the attacks that she’s under, when you actually talk to the person, she is incredibly nice, down to earth. And it makes- I said to her I really feel bad that there are all these attacks out there on her, "abort Palin" signs being painted on the sidewalks. You know, she’s a- she’s a good woman and regardless of you think, she is.

WHOOPI GOLDBERG: Yeah, it’s horrible that she has gotten this much and- gotten this much rage in such a short amount of time. And I guess people don’t remember that when Hillary was running because maybe she ran- she had been out there longer and it was easier to take those same kind of ugly pot shots. You know, there’s something about strong women or women running that brings out the worst in people whether it’s on the Democratic side or the, or the Republican side, the point of the fact is, it’s crappy.

JOY BEHAR: But she says things that are inflammatory on the stump also. And somebody yelled out the other day when she was speaking "kill Obama." And she should be the one to say "do not speak that way about a senator of the United States." [applause] And she doesn’t. She does not!

GOLDBERG: No she does not, but you know what Joy? That does not justify- I’m sorry- that does not justify crappy behavior from anybody. Yes that’s what she should have done. [applause] But it doesn’t make the- I’m sorry- it doesn’t make the shirt wearing on our side or their side or anybody else’s side, or the ugly things that have been saying- said about not them as candidates, but them as women. This has been going on now for over a year with female candidates and quite honestly I’m sick of the "abort this" and "abort that" and "this one’s a pig" and "that one’s a pig." Everybody, when you meet them one on one has something redeeming.

[applause]

BEHAR: Yeah, yeah, fine.

GOLDBERG: Everybody.

BEHAR: I’ll accept that. I’ll accept that.

[...]

BEHAR: Obama is ahead in the polls and he’s already starting to say "listen, if I win, remember this is going to be a tough job. People are going to have to make certain sacrifices." They’ve screwed the country up for the past eight years and now he’s going to have to clean it up.

GOLDBERG: Why-

BEHAR: So be in reality.

HASSELBECK: He was part of the mess.

BEHAR: Be in reality.

[applause]

HASSELBECK: He was part of the mess.

GOLDBERG: You know what? All of Washington, all of Washington-

BEHAR: No, McCain was part of the mess.

GOLDBERG: All of Washington has a hand in this. Every senator, every congressman, every one in the House, every president [applause] vice president, has a hand in what has gone on in the last eight years. People said they fought against stuff. They didn’t fight hard enough. People said they were in it. You know, there was six years for the Republicans and two years for the Democrats and nobody’s been able to get jack booty done. You know?

BEHAR: Alright, but, you know, if you blame everybody, you blame nobody, so you’ve got to start to say-

GOLDBERG: No, we blame everybody. It’s like the, it’s like the-

BEHAR: You can’t throw them all out.

GOLDBERG: No it’s not. It’s like you pointed out the other day. People have to take responsibility. We were talking about the economy. You said at some point we also are responsible. It’s the same way there. It’s not enough to point at one party or the other party and say "you did it," "you did it."

BEHAR: Oh, I’m not doing that.

GOLDBERG: But I’m saying, look they’re all culpable for this and we have to check it out.

Now, that they're confidant

Now, that they're confidant of an Obama victory some on the left probably feel that they can afford to be "magnaminous" to the losers. My lib brother said he "respected" McCain for putting the woman with the Obama/Arab comment "in her place". I told him, "Oh, just shut up".

Hey Chris, I told your brother the same thing!

Apparently you had no more

Apparently you had no more effect than I had :). I did make him be quiet when I finally told him that I was indifferent to his political opinions.

Ah, well, at least you got him to clam up; flesh-eating zombies are a lot harder!

Well, Chris, you know it's

Well, Chris, you know it's important to have the "respect" of those you lose to.

Joy Behar just lost another loose screw...nobody yelled "kill Obama!"

They were talking about Ayers.  But that doesn't matter. Once again, Joy speaks, and removes all doubt.

As for Goldberg's compliment to Palin,

<Chris Matthews wide-eyed, open mouth face>:

HAH!

Talk about damning with faint praise.

You summed it all up perfectly...with the great words and wit you always use.

Really, you said it all!

I am so weary of all of this BS...all of it.

I have seen this type of behavior with some MSMers also.  If Obama is up in the polls they risk saying a few negative things about him so we will think of them as fair, but if he is behind they say nary a word.

And Chris, I know what it is like to have a lib for a sibling.  : (

it's one thing to have a

it's one thing to have a liberal sibling - it's something else when that sibling is from the Keith Olberman school where they won't admit it and are smug and sarcastic about everything. I do get him angry when he spouts off his condescending liberal crap and I ask him if that's what Keith told him to say. :)

McNotObama '08

Even worse when it's your spouse...

I not only have some liberal sibs, I have an ultra-liberal spouse and kid.  I can't explain it, but they are from the Keith Olbermann school - smug, arrogant, nasty and you can't tell them ANYTHING.  Things are very tense in our home every four years...  In fact, my husband didn't speak to me for two weeks after Gore lost, and for one week after Kerry lost.  Think I'll take a vacation for a couple weeks when Obama loses.

In related news, hell just froze over.

Brrrrrr!

Just an observation.

You know, when Whoopi is on her meds, she sounds like a normal human being.

“Anybody gone into Whole Foods lately and see what they charge for arugula?  I mean, they’re charging a lot of money for this stuff.”

B.H. Obama

Whoope has a brain!

I always knew Whoopi had some common sense at least she finally acted on it.  It is despicable what people (MSMers included) have said and done to Palin and she's only been doing this for what, 6 weeks.  Everyone should be ashamed.  Good for you Whoopie, I hope this trend of using one's brain instead of liberal talking points continues.  She even got Joy to shut up, I thought that was impossible!

Whoopi

Interesting exchange again!

Blohar: Palin sucks, blah blah [applause] [clapping]

Blohar finally stumbles on the truth, but is too dimwitted to recognize it.

Blohar's synopsis: "Both were Senators, but McCain was part of the mess, Obama wasn't."

Why? Because Obama has being running for POTUS virtually full time since he got into the Senate, and when he did show up, he mostly voted PRESENT, which is a meaningless, no-balls, ass-covering alternative to actually standing up for something on record.

Goldberg has been acting schizophrenic, but Blohar is unwavering in her absolute rabid moonbatosity.

Joy is an idiot.  McCain

Joy is an idiot.  McCain has only one vote, if the rest of Congress passes a stupid law that he opposed or refused to pass one regulating Fannie and Freddie despite his lobbying for one that makes *them* part of the mess, not McCain. Majority rules and all that.

Methinks Whoopi forget to

Methinks Whoopi forget to take her DNC recommended Daily Allowance of Kool-Aid.

As far as Blohar is concerned, her synapses are just not firing.

Brain cell activated

Bulletin: Whoopi's one dormant brain cell activated, spoke out, then quickly went dormant again.

Her 'every president remark has had a hand in this in the last eight years' comment proved it.

You mean you can get a speeding ticket and still be allowed to vote?-- Joy Behar talking while her single brain cell is on sabatical at a coloring book camp in Tunisia.

Makes me wonder

if The Spew might have been turning some people off and those people let them know it.

BEHAR: I’ll accept that. I’ll accept that.

Well, I'm sure that Sarah Palin feels so privileged.

Thanks Whoopi!

for pointing out what is obvious to common sense.

For once, Whoopi is making sense. IMHO, she is absolutely right. The state of our Union is due to all, or at least a vast majority, of Senators, Reps, and Prez's of the last 20 or so years. Though Whoopi said 8 years, I will take what I can get, considering. Those who have been fighting for the people, have not been fighting enough, and this is because NONE of them are afraid of reelection campaigns. If the people actually punished their sens and reps for misrepresenting them, we would see a very different Washington, DC.

"Every President and

"Every President and Vice-President for the last eight years..."

Yeah, that was swift. It just shows that, while what she was saying was true, she's just as clueless as I always thought. She lays it on Bush, and can't hide it. And/or she's so stone-stupid she doesn't realize that her "every" is referring to one administration.

Kind of like saying "I blame all of you" when you're addressing one person.

Jesus Christ was crucified by "community organizers."

Big Whoop(i)

So, Whoopi has already started the back-pedaling. I take that to mean that she actually believes the hype, that Obama has won and it's time to try to mend fences, and pretend she's not the Democrat shill she's blatantly been all this time.

Whoopi, didn't anyone ever teach you not to believe your own press releases? And, like the old Carole King song goes, "It's too late, baby." Too late to pretend to be "reasonable" and "even-handed," although the sheep that think your opinions are valid and reasonable will buy this garbage.

Look for more of this when the Obamatrons really believe they will win. Until then, it's just them trying to make the news, as usual.

Jesus Christ was crucified by "community organizers."

Whoooopi has convinced me that it was evolution, iys just not complete for her...

Remember

That the polls said Kerry AND Gore before him were shoeins for the Oval office.

Let not your heart be troubled and don't pay any attention to the polls.

Just vote who you want to vote for and don't worry about it.

No matter who wins, this country WILL survive them!

Another view

from the lefty looney bin of the View.

This is something that some Republicans still haven't learned.  The MSM will throw them a bone but the next 100 bones will be for the Dems.

The news media talking heads all want to be and act like politicians but from within the safety of the group of all their pals watching and applauding.  Its like how much can we get away with?  Who will hold us accountable?  Oh that's right just like the Pols?

Whoopi and gang are heavily addicted to the kool aid while spewing the daily dem talking points.

No Obama Not now Not Ever

No pass from me on Whoopi

Before everyone declares Whoopi rehabilitated, let's remember just a month ago she asked McCain to his face if she should worry he was going to make her a slave.

That's the thing these

That's the thing these liberal women are going to have to get through their heads: the Obama camp treated Hilary Clinton like a dog!  Now they are doing the same thing to Palin.  It isn't like this just began either.  Liberals are always vulgar toward people like Barbara Bush, Nancy Reagan, Laura Bush, Condoleeza Rice, Harriet Miers, et. Al.  Liberals are not synonymous with feminist.

Whoopi

She finally spoke up... but it still won't shut Blohar up.!!

It seems pretty clear to me

that this is going to be the new liberal style.  They are feeling pretty confident they are going to play nice so when Republicans tell them where to stick their late concern they can play the victim card.

I can already hear - "look how hateful the right is being now," "they just won't work together with us,"

Joy Behar, the liar

Joy REALLY pissed me off when she said rally folks screamed "KILL, OBAMA! KILL, OBAMA!" when that is a frickin LIE, and nobody called her on it!

Secondly, and I hate to say this, but the show started out talking about how Madonna recently chided a concert-goer for sitting down during a performance, saying "hey, this isn't a Streisand concert!" WHY DIDN'T ELISABETH SEGUE INTO MADONNA'S THREATS TO SARAH PALIN?

My thoughts are she was told NOT to do that. With that same suspicion, E.D. Hill was a fill-in for Elisabeth on Tuesday. Politics was just BARELY brought up, and it was only about Sarah's motherhood responsibilities. But NOTHING from Joy Blowhard about Bush, etc., because E.D. would have sliced her THROAT with the FACTS!!!!

Sarah Palin receives No Respect From AP Reporter

Did you know Sarah Palin is a governor? Do you agree that she should be addressed as Gov. Palin or Governor Sarah Palin, or similar words to that effect?

Tell that to AP reporter Beth Fouhy.

This AP story written by Fouhy titled Palin blames Dems for withdrawn rally invitation was printed in my local Los Angeles newspaper. I didn't see anything out of the ordinary when I first read the article, but I came across it again today, and reread it more carefully.

I realized that nowhere in the article is Sarah Palin addressed as Gov. Palin. Yet Hillary Clinton is addressed as "the former first lady" and "New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton". Another congressman, the infamous Robert Wexler, is addressed as "Rep Robert Wexler, D-Fla".

Was Sarah Palin's official title of Gov. Palin inadvertently left off? I don't think so. With the exception of the beginning paragraph where she is addressed as "Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin", the article refers to her as just plain "Palin" numerous times.

For AP reporter Beth Fouhy to address Sarah Palin as Gov. Palin in the article would mean that Fouhy would have to show some respect to Gov. Palin. Heaven Fobid!

In researching AP reporter Beth Fouhy, I discovered that she is a former executive producer at CNN, and a reporter once assigned to Hillary Clinton. Why am I not surprised? If you want to learn more about her, there is an article at blogs4mccain.com titled AP Reporter in the Tank for Obama?

Whoopie?

Whoopie?  Oh.My.Goodness.

Well, it's about time!  Good for you Whoopie!  I've been wondering how the Whoop & gals on The LIBERAL View would feel if these attacts (on Palin) were directed at them and/or their sisters/daughters.

Wow!

Whoppi hedging her bets?

Jane Fonda was on with Merideth Vierra when she used the C word. Obviously this is a word that gets thrown around by low lifes. Whoppi wants to draw demarcation lines, Good for her.

I think the way to tell a Liberal from a Progressive, is their attitude toward Governor Sarah Palin. Liberals think she is a gimmick, and the Progressives feel threatened by her. I am guessing, Whoppi is a Liberal?

All the trash talk, that has gone on in this election, is related directly to the Media hyping one candidate over the other for ratings. There is some responsiblity, what if Obama is skewed up in the Polls, going into Election night, and he doesn't win? It will turn ugly. Perhaps again, Whoppi wants to draw a demarcation line her position in the Mainstream Media. I think it is past time for Liberals to identify themselves, from the Progressives and Socialist in the Democrat Party.

Sarah Palin vs. Hillary Clinton.

I resent any attempt to draw any parallels between Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton.

Sarah is a decent human being, striving to improve the world around her while being as gracious as possible.

Hillary is strictly about how much power her can draw unto herself, regardless of the cost to anybody else.
