Republicans really hold racist double standards when it involves teenage pregnancies and marriages. This according to Joy Behar, who shared such a sentiment on the September 3 edition of "The View." Discussing the pregnancy of Sarah Palin’s daughter, Bristol, Behar expressed sympathy for the father and fiancé, Levi Johnston.
Behar exclaimed it’s "the end of his life" because "he’s married at 17" (Johnston is actually 18, which is the legal difference between a child and an adult) When Elisabeth Hasselbeck asked "why isn’t that the beginning of another [life]?" Joy Behar, implying Republicans are racist, rebutted "if this was a black teenage couple, you wouldn’t be saying it so easily. Not you, but the Republican party would be all over that." Behar subsequently added "they’re white, they’re Christian. Everybody loves them on the right wing."
Later in the broadcast Joy Behar read a letter to the editor making a bizarre apples and oranges comparison. The "New York Times" reader declared it hypocritical of the McCain campaign requesting privacy in Bristol Palin’s pregnancy, but "the Republican party spent 30 years making policy on women’s bodies." Behar had trouble recognizing the difference between protecting at least a potential life and condemning excess gossip from the media.
Also of note, Whoopi Goldberg praised Sarah Palin for sticking with her daughter and not disowning her as some parents have done. Whoopi also recounted wishing at the time her then pregnant teenage daughter would have an abortion, but did not. Whoopi conceded "it worked out."
"God bless this woman for sticking with her kid. Because there are a lot of kids out there who get tossed out, thrown away, who are on their own. And so I tip my hat, and I’m a pro-choice person. I tip my hat. My kid made her decision to have her baby. Wasn’t the choice that I would have liked her to make at 15, maybe not. But, you know, it worked out. Thank you God.’
The relevant transcript follows.
JOY BEHAR: The boy, I just feel bad for this kid. I don’t have a son, but I would not like it if he got some girl pregnant and the next thing I know he’s married at 17 years old and that’s the end of his life too.
ELISABETH HASSELBECK: Why isn’t that the beginning of another? I think sometimes we’re only hearing that.
BEHAR: Come on, let’s get real.
HASSELBECK: Let’s get real.
BEHAR: He’s 17.
HASSELBECK: Let’s get real.
BEHAR: If this was a black teenage couple, you wouldn’t be saying it so easily. Not you, but the Republican party would be all over that.
HASSELBECK: Don’t paint them.
[applause]
BEHAR: Come on! Get real!
HASSELBECK: Joy, that is completely-
BEHAR: They’re white, they’re Christian. Everybody loves them on the right wing. But if this was a black teenage couple-
BARBARA WALTERS: Joy, the boy’s mother said they did plan to be married, but, but not yet.
[...]
WHOOPI GOLDBERG: God bless this woman for sticking with her kid. Thank you God.
[...]
BEHAR: To the point of, you know, privacy and why we dig into people’s personal information and all of that stuff. I agree with you because I don’t want anybody in my business. So there’s a letter to the editor today in "The New York Times" that really said it I think. It said "To the editor: I love how the pregnancy of Sarah Palin’s daughter is according to John McCain’s campaign ‘a private family matter.’ This after the Republican party spent 30 years making policy on women’s bodies. Why can’t Republicans recognize that reproductive choices are private for all American women?" [applause] Her name is Claire Bushie, Claire Bushie which I thought was ironic that her name was a Bushie.
HASSELBECK: I think the privacy that they were talking about is specific to the election. Like we are, we are allowed to dive so far into people’s-
BEHAR: But isn’t it the same idea Elisabeth?
HASSELBECK: -private lives during an election.
BEHAR: Stay out of my uterus. Stay out of my e-mail. Stay out of my blog.
HASSELBECK: I’m not going to change your mine. You’re not going to change mine. I’m pro-life. I believe in the right to life. I believe when that little life begins at conception. I’m certainly not going to change your mind.
WALTERS: You think there should be laws to govern this.
HASSELBECK: I think they should be protected. What Sarah Palin’s daughter is doing is remarkable and I think that it is. I, I am pro-life, but I’m not here to change your mind on that

There are 262 cities in this country with a population of 100,000 or more. But there are close to a hundred thousand small towns with ten thousand people or less. "You do the math," the conservative pollster Kellyanne Conway told me. "We are a nation of Wasillas, not Chicagos."
Dig deep into Sarah Palin, get all you can, talk to everybody, get every vote, every quote, tell us of her career and life, she may be the next vice president. But don't play games. AND, LEAVE HER KID ALONE BITCH!!!!!!!

September 3, 2008 - 14:40 ET by Hunter12In psychologiacal terms, it's called projection. Joy's putting her own beliefs on the face of the situation. She thinks people would react how she would react in that situation. So look out Whoopi, you're sitting next to a closet bigot, who thinks your daughter should be thrown out of society.

Loud, spitting when she talks, interrupting everyone all the time, sudden unpleasant aromas scaring the cat away, talking while hanging a drumstick or two from her mouth, reminding everyone how non-racist she is because she knows Whoopi, and listening to her murmur and interrupt herself alone in the living room after everyone else went to bed.

Unfortunately men in the US don't have reproductive rights. If the woman decides to abort, the man can't stop it. If the woman decides to have the child and name the man as father, the man is required to give support for the child. There is no "choice" for the man.
Does she have a daughter?
September 3, 2008 - 15:04 ET by Hunter12Does she have a daughter? I hope that if she does, the girl never comes home pregant. Joy's response will be obvious, "Well, you little sl_t, you were obviously asking for it. To ruin the life of some nice young boy, what were you thinking?"

He's actually 18, for what it's worth. He could enlist in the Army.
And heaven forbid, Joy, if your son "got some girl pregnant" and had to take responsibility for his actions! You would just pay for the abortion, so that your little boy could go on with his life the way he'd planned it, right?
Once again, Joy speaks, and removes all doubt.

September 3, 2008 - 14:52 ET by Gat New YorkI have to preface this by explaining that I made the mistake of clicking the wrong channel which is the only reason I saw The View.

Behar is Attractive
September 3, 2008 - 15:35 ET by Rush FanI may not agree with her beliefs or her politics, but I can ignore all of that because Joy Behar is a very attractive woman.
If I'm not mistaken she was a top runway model in her younger days. If my memory serves me correctly (now I'm getting up in age so I could be wrong) she was also in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition two years in a row.
As Clint Eastwood said in the movie In the Line of Fire "I know things about people." I feel I know Joy Behar. It's not just her outer appearance that is attractive but her inner beauty as well. She is kind, considerate and seems to be very tolerant of other people's viewpoints. She seems to take a common-sense approach to everyday issues, as I can attest by having watched her on The View every day.
Okay, it's true that she has had lapses in judgement from time to time. For example NewsBusters documented that Joy, when discussing Obama's Rev. Wright problems, said: "I think Reverend Wright might be being paid by the Republicans. That's what I think." She emphasized: "He's on the payroll!"
It's also true that she implied on The View that those sainted by the Catholic Church are no more than mentally ill individuals who heard voices. I could go on by why bother. Let's face it folks. Everyone, including Joy Behar, is entitled to make some mistakes from time to time.
So the next time you hear Joy Behar make an asinine, idiotic, absurd, foolish or just plain stupid remark remember that famous saying that begins with: "Beauty is only skin deep but .....

The fear on the left
September 3, 2008 - 16:50 ET by joev11It's amazing the left actually becomes ENRAGED over the fact Sara Palin kept her Down Syndrome baby and more incensed he daughter is marrying the father if her child AND keeping the new life to boot.
It makes them look so very awful because of the stark difference of their beliefs (abortion anytime for any reason) and Palins belief in the sanctity of life.
The left hates Sara Palin because her nomination as McCains VP has sealed the deal and insured a crushing defeat of the Obama the empty suit and Biden, Washington insider whose brother and son are currently on trial for fraud involving a hedge fund. Oh, you didn't know about that? Google is our friend, libs, checki it out.
Finally, ask yourself this question, folks. If Palin was such an awful choice and of no help in McCain quest for the WH, why are they trying so hard to destroy her? Why not just smile and congratulate her and let the McCain Palin ticket sink into oblivion?
We all know the answer to that, don't we?

Behar is an idiot!
September 4, 2008 - 11:39 ET by whatajoyWhy does ABC pay Joy Behar for going on TV to look like an idiot each day? She doesn't seem to have higher than an 8th grade education and she never thinks twice before she speaks. The more she talks, the more dumb she sounds. She doesn't even get her facts straight before spewing her vile venom to America.
Nothing Behar says is informative, educational, persuasive or entertaining. She does not make a difference in America, sad to say. She just babbles about in life and has no clue what she is talking about. She's definitely on that show for her humor, not her debating skills. She couldn't sell water in the desert to someone dying of thirst. She's too dumb to know how and she'd probably drink the water herself not realizing the other person needed it as they lay in the desert dying.
Behar needs to take some night classes and even take some general American History courses just so she knows what a President does and doesn't do. She seems to have no clue. She said once or twice that President Bush can write a check out with our money anytime he wants to. Give me a break.
I tell ya, America is definitely a land of opportunity to have someone as dumb as her on such a hit daytime TV show for this long. How does she get away with it? She's an idiot! There's no getting around that. The more she speaks, the dumber she sounds.
If you look up idiot in the dictionary, it'll have a picture of Joy Behar as an example next to it.

September 9, 2008 - 16:12 ET by Hero SquadWhy is it that Joy Behar wants us to stay out of her **gulp** uterus, yet she's perfectly fine with jumping all over somebody else's?
I mean, isn't that exactly what Joy's doing by declaring their lives over at age 18 because of a decision they are making about Bristol's uterus?
In that conversation, it looks like everyone was dumping on Joy. Sometimes it's got to be hard to support her, even when she's on your own side!
