Former CBS correspondent and best selling author Bernard Goldberg noted the clear double standard NBC and MSNBC has on liberal versus conservative commentators. On the February 11 edition of "The O’Reilly Factor," Goldberg discussed the corruption at NBC News after the fallout from the David Shuster "pimped out" comments.
Goldberg alluded to left wing partisan commentator Keith Olbermann, without mentioning him by name, and noted that has anchored the election night coverage and moderated a presidential debate. Goldberg posed the question "would NBC News have Rush Limbaugh anchoring their election night coverage on MSNBC? Would they have an angry, ideological right winger like Michael Savage anchor their election night coverage on MSNBC?" He then answered his own question "of course not!" And added that "they do have a left wing bomb thrower doing it."
BERNARD GOLDBERG: The people who run GE either don’t care or don’t realize how they’re hurting their brand, how they’re corrupting NBC News. They don’t realize that it’s just plain wrong to have a rabidly partisan commentator who says the president of the United States, and this is an exact quote, "is either a pathological liar or the idiot in chief." You can’t have that person anchoring election night coverage and moderating a presidential debate, but they do. They really literally do.
BILL O’REILLY: What is the danger, what is the danger to the folks? You know, so millions of people watching us right now and they’re saying "okay Goldberg, O’Reilly, they don’t like NBC News," which is true, but "why do I care?" Why does the guy in South Miami care whether NBC News is corrupt, whether General Electric, the parent company, is corrupt? Why?
GOLDBERG: Because, because we’re now going on the road of having a free for all, where somebody, somebody hosts anchoring election night coverage, which is, we’re not talking about election night coverage for city council. We’re talking about the race for president of the United States. The people at home need to know that when they watch the media, the national media, that they’re going to get an honest, fair shake. And you can’t get that from somebody who’s such a partisan. Look would NBC News- and I mean this. This is not just a throw away question. Would NBC News have Rush Limbaugh anchoring their election night coverage on MSNBC? Would they have an angry, ideological right winger like Michael Savage anchor their election night coverage on MSNBC? Of course not! But they do have a left wing bomb thrower doing it. This, this as I say, should bother GE because the American people have less and less faith, every time a poll comes out you see this, they have less and less and less faith in the news media. And a democracy can’t survive for long- it can survive in the short run- but it can’t survive for long if people don’t have faith in the news organizations that tell them what’s going on.

Didn't Olberamann say that
Tue, 02/12/2008 - 16:26 ET by motherbeltDidn't Olberamann say that the entire Bush administration was an enterprise to cover up Bush's crimininality? Didn't he call President Bush a criminal on many occasions? Hasn't he called for the impeachment of both Bush and Cheney?
Yeah, but you know, wacked-out liberals are able to put their personal feelings aside and do "straight news" at the drop of a hat.

Actually, I believe Olby's name has gone the way of Al Franken's on Bill O's program ... You know, "He who shall NOT be named on MY show" ... He calls Franken Stewart Smally when he must use a name ... I think it's time Bill and Co. adopt John Gibson's name for Olby ... Bathtub Boy ...

Probably can't afford anyone else either.

They Don't Care
Tue, 02/12/2008 - 16:26 ET by Wildcatter1980NBC/PMSNBC/GE simply does not care.
In fact, is GE allowing NBC/PMSNBC to lean so far left that they risk hurting their left shoulders/collarbones because they (GE) don't want the far left-wing nutroots to target them for being a big, bad, greedy corporation? By being "green" and allowing NBC/PMSNBC to parrot them, GE is protecting itself from the far left-wing nutroots.
Just my $0.02
I understand the "green"
Tue, 02/12/2008 - 17:03 ET by Free ThinkerI understand the "green" focus at NBC, GE has invested alot of capital in projects to take advantage of the global warming hype and the more it can hype it the better for GE's bottom line. As far as the left wing news slant, I think it is counterproductive to its brand to promote global warming theories but then have a news staff that has little credibility because it is so transparent in its far left ideology. Although it may be part of the strategy - the more a lie is repeated, the more people believe it. It also doesn't hurt GE to have a news organization trying to influence elections to put the politicians in place that will most likely pass legislation that is beneficial to GE's strategy. Talk about a "big, bad, greedy corporation."
Thank you Justin...great
Tue, 02/12/2008 - 16:29 ET by bigtimerThank you Justin...great catch! (glad to see this isn't about the View for a change...heheee)
I saw this all and was never more happy...Goldberg said it just like it is.
The absolute idiocy of letting this rabid leftist who is bordering on insanity be a moderator let alone to be a pretend newscaster is and has been horrendous....the only, and I mean only reason anyone would allow this type of leftist filth be broadcast every night is simple...they have an agenda...an appalling one at that with an equally appalling so-called man doing it.
If anyone ever on any of the other networks had said anything close to this about the ex-Impeached President they would of been hounded and replaced...within 24 hour. Heck the networks wouldn't even use the word lie or liar when it came to Clinton, they all used the 'L' word like we were little children, heck I remember when Bob Kerry used the word lies and liar about the Clintons... he was forced to back-down and apologize....
Enough is enough...letting this man spew his filthy leftist rants every-night is beyond belief...so is nbc/msnbc...hypocrisy at it's finest.
Olbermann's insult of Chris

The Conservative movement is about to be reborn.
One problem is that
Tue, 02/12/2008 - 17:26 ET by balboaOne problem is that Olberman wants to be all things to all people at MSNBC: pundit, anchorman, etc. He should simply say "I'm a pundit" and leave it at that. The other problem is that Olberman is the most successful "brand" they have at the station, so MSNBC is trying to extend him over as many different categories as possible.
Yeah KO is all things alright...

Bernie Goldberg amazes me
Tue, 02/12/2008 - 17:47 ET by Lame CherryI can not figure out Bernie Goldberg even though I adore this gentleman. How he can be a liberal and tell the Truth is what I can not fathom. How he can be a liberal at all just boggles my mind as he sees things so clearly.
If all liberals were like Bernie there would not be a problem in this world as things could be worked out. Maybe it is Bernie is a capitalist liberal and people like Dan Rather are communist liberals as something beats in Bernard Goldberg which is rare.

That could be dead on. The far left wing of this nation, which seems to be growing are just socialists beating down the path to communism. Thats not the problem though, the real problem is that they are all liers and won't admit to being socialists!

Tue, 02/12/2008 - 22:02 ET by DCC1They are already asking for it, they want "better education" right? But they won't let a child transfer to a better school or district if it upsets the racial balance.
They want a "better healthcare system". So they are asking for the government to take hold and mandate what treatment we can or cannot get.
They want to "take those profits" from the evil corperate empire, but wait till they get the pink slip because a company cant make the bottom line.
They don't believe in spending for military or defense of this nation, wait until we are invaded from China.
But we are just crazy for think that actions have concequences I guess...

Wed, 02/13/2008 - 11:19 ET by marpelEven though that lib-shill, David Shuster turns my stomach, he's so unprofessional, what he said about Chelsea is not half as bad as what that jack-ass, Keith O says about Bush or any other conservative every single night. If he's reporting the news, his opinion should not come into the scripting. And what is the result of MSNBC hiring people like Shuster and Keith O? Americans turn to Fox....
CNN doesn't even have a dog in that race as awful as they are...
