You got an opinon, well, opinons are like buttholes and yours is worth about as much. But there IS an Author and finisher of your faith whose "opinion" you'd do well to consider. Do the people in your church know what a "deed" is? Not the property kind mind you but "Deed"as in

Would the "scholar", I think this is how you shall henceforth be known, as "the scholar", consider the ACT of BAPTISM to be a DEED? Or something that one "does"? There's a reason that after the HolyGhost was shed forth on the Day of Pentecost, the "baptism of John" CHANGED to JESUS NAME.  You followers of John are so silly, didn't he TELL you to worship the one that came AFTER Him and not HIM? Obviously JOHN didn't know WHO JESUS was until he was SHOWN it when he baptized Jesus! Now, obviously John used the empty TITLES "Father, Son and Holy Ghost" because he didn't know the NAME that God would assume when HE was made FLESH (John 1:1, 1:14) But even when John was baptizing he told the people that it was ONLY TEMPORARY, silly rabbit! When Jesus told the to baptize the people in the "Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost" He also told that HE was the EMBODIMENT of the GODHEAD and that the NAME (singular) of the Father, On and Holy Ghost is JESUS! Colossians 2:8,9, John 14 7-11, 26, John 15:26, John 10:30, etc. Thats why JOHN told them that HIS baptism which you have, was ONLY TEMPORARY!

See John wasn't a glory hog. He told them "I'm just an apertif, something to wet the whistle" lol. Seriously, he baptized for repentance to soften them up for the prospect. Man's heart was "hard" which is decried countless times throughout your bible. When JESUS came to be baptized, John said that he needed to be baptized BY JESUS instead of the other way around! But Jesus told him to do it for an example to YOU, Candance! An example you have yet to follow, because John SAID that his baptism was TEMPORARY! I'm workin' hard for you dude, pay attention. God has at many times given MANY names for himself, to ADAM he was "The LORD GOD". To Jacob he was "the God oF Bethel" to Moses he was I AM, THE LORD and JEALOUS, yes Jealous is a NAME.

Yahweh, Jehova, Jehova Jireh, are ALL NAMES that GOD gave to his PROPHETS. Now all of that was in the dispensation of the LAW, law which would culminate in the messiah whose NAME is JESUS. Because the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the lamb slain before the foundation of the world, was the GREATEST sacrifice of GOD for MAN, God's earthly incarnation, was given a name which is ABOVE every name, oh bible prophet.

Jesus is the one who hung between heaven and hell. Jesus is the one who freed the captives from satan and gave your sould access to eternity. This is why ALL that you DO in WORD or DEED should be done in his matchless name, scholar. 

See when God gave various prophets, various names for himself, these names suited the "occasion" if you will. When the He came freeing the Jews He was "I AM", get it yet, genius? WHEN HE CAME OFFERING SALVATION HE CAME AS JESUS CHRIST and baptism is an acknowledement in the belief of THAT FACT, understanding that if we are baptized in the image or likeness of HIS DEATH we shall also take part in the likeness of His RESURRECTION!
