Anderson Cooper on His 'Planet in Peril': 'We Have No Agenda' Really?

Photo of Justin McCarthy.

CNN’s Anderson Cooper appearing on "The View" to promote his special "Planet in Peril." At the outset, Cooper claimed the series has no political agenda.

"There’s a lot of politics surrounding it, a lot of arguments surrounding it. But we just want to look at the facts. There’s no agenda. There’s no- we’re not trying to- we’re not advocates for any cause. We’re basically just looking at facts and letting viewers make up their own minds."

Really? Later in the segment it sure looked like it did. Co-host Joy Behar asked what can be done. The CNN anchor noted to save the environment, we need "major policy decisions."

JOY BEHAR: Whenever I see these types of films, even like Al Gore’s film, which was brilliant, "The Inconvenient Truth" (sic). But I never know, what am I supposed to do? I mean, besides vote for people who are pro-environment, and who don’t vote against, you know, environmental laws, what else can the average person do? It upsets me to see polar bears disappearing.

COOPER: You know, there’s a lot of things people can do. They can make changes in their own lives, which will contribute, but a lot of these changes that we’re talking about, a lot of the things that scientists say need to be done are huge massive changes, which are beyond just one individual. We’re talking about-

BEHAR: Policy.

COOPER: Yeah, major policy decisions.

That sounds like an agenda, and not exactly "looking at the facts" and "letting viewers make up their own minds."

Every time Joy opens her

Every time Joy opens her mouth she sounds like an uneducated moron.

(regarding GOP candidates decision to forego debates sponsored by groups that hate the GOP):

BEHAR: Scheduling conflicts. What, are they all at a Klan meeting at the same time?

(regarding Clarence Thomas's autobiography):

"Why is he writing this book? He won basically the round. He’s the
Supreme Court Justice for life. He should write a book, ‘If I Harassed
Her.’"

Joy is one of these knee-jerk liberals who have no idea what they are talking about, but they know it will go over well with their libtarded friends. She doesn't even know the name of Gore's movie....and you can bet she knows jack squat about polar bear populations....

But it wouldn't.......

upset me to see Joy Behar disappear! And she can take Cooper with her!

No Agenda??!!!

The title of the show implies that the "debate is already over", as the tired overused phrase goes. The conclusion that "major policy changes" are required means that their is no room left for the possibility that there is no "global warming" but just a short term uptrend.

It doesn' even leave room to discuss that, over all, a warmer climate might be better for humans than worse. After all, the peak of the medievil warm period around 1100-1250 is called "the climate optimum". (it was much warmer than present and had almost 2x the CO2 that we currently have - all before large scale fossil fuel burning)

Sounds like it has nothing but an agenda to me. It certaintly doesn't explore the scientific facts

The day that "politician" became a career choice is the day we started losing the Republic. Let's get it back! Fred08.com

Keep a Straight Thought

It is amazing that Cooper can't keep his story straight (no pun intended) for even a few minutes.

This journalism stuff is hard when you have a point to push.

I agree with Cooper. Lets

I agree with Cooper.

Lets start by bulldozing every mansion in Malibu and The Hampton's, restoring the coastline and giving the wildlife back their homes.

Limo's and private jets should be outlawed. No more Helicopter rides to beat the traffic.

Al Gore must stay home and do interviews via Skype. Why fly around the globe in private jets preaching about Global Warming when you can stay home in front of your computer and stread the woed. Better yet I propose "House Arrest" for the Gores...lol.

Get back to me when those simple requests are completed.

I'm a refugee from the Democratic Party.

Now Just one Minute

Now just one minute. Coop has a cool place in the Hamptons.  If it is bulldozed you won't get an invite.

Could not be dumber

LOL. Everything that comes out of Behar's mouth is unbelievably ignorant. Woman hasn't cracked a non-fic book for centuries, I'd guess. Polar bears disappearing? Not. And it's AN Inconvenient Truth, Joy. Brilliant movie? Not.

This woman does not need to say "I never know....what am I supposed to do" because it's obvious she doesn't know anything. I'm continually amazed by her nonsense.

As for Cooper: Jeez, Anderson, could ya' take off the blinders for 2 secs? Everyone's got an agenda. Hard to believe he can't admit to that.

I'm guessing Joy also

I'm guessing Joy also believes David Copperfield really made that elephant disappear too.

sponsors

The following show of "Planet in Peril" is brought to you by Volkswagen. They don't have agenda but there product does.

....."We Have No

....."We Have No Agenda".....

Oh puhleeeeeze!!!!

ROFLMAO!

You know, it is possible to

You know, it is possible to have someone who personally advocates for a certain position to produce a show which presents facts objectively.  The journalistic ideal is not people with no opinions, it's people who can present issues fairly despite their opinions.  Shows like The View exist to ask authors or producers questions like "So why did you do this?" and I think in that context it is perfectly acceptable for them to discuss their personal feelings.

So how about if you judge the special after it's aired instead of before?

Would you say the same

About a hypothetical news special produced by John Stossel and co-produced by Brit Hume? Or might we see similar prejudice, only from the left? Face it, Anderson & Joy have a history with the facts that some on the right might consider rather loose...

You are not truly seruious are you?

When has this ever ocurred with anyone in the Gore Clan regarding "Global Warming", oops, excuse me, I mean "Climate Change" and what makes you think this Clan Member will?

Scripps Lectures

On October 8th I attended a Lecture at Scripps Aquarium in San Diego presented by the famous Dr. Naomi Oreskes (all papers agree) and the title was: The American Denial of Global Warming. Approximately 500 people were in attendence and after an hour of pure propaganda 200 left the building. My favorite part of the lecture is when she pulled up her home made slide showing that the media was biased against AGW. Folks, I can't make something like this up. She actually put up a slide taken from the media of The Governator proclaiming "The Debate is over". I guess you can just have it both ways.
