Barbara Walters announced that comedian, actress, and liberal activist Whoopi Goldberg will take Rosie O'Donnell's place as the moderator on "The View." Barbara Walters made the announcement.
"Today is the day we have been waiting for. You are about to meet the new moderator of 'The View' and we are thrilled. She is brilliant. She is funny. She's an enormous talent. She's an Oscar winning actress, a Broadway superstar. And we have her. Please join us in welcoming Whoopi Goldberg."
Although she will likely be less controversial than Rosie she does have a history of left wing remarks.
Most recently, as a guest co-host of her new show, Whoopi railed that "nobody as a right to burn [their own Dixie Chicks CD's]" and "burning them in public brings on 1933."
Speaking at a Democratic National Committee fundraiser in 2004, Whoopi used crude remarks to describe the president exclaiming, "keep Bush where it belongs [points at crotch] and not the White House."
In 1997, upon interviewing with Katie Couric, Whoopi discussed her support for abortion rights and "outed" Katie Couric as an abortion rights supporter, claiming they "marched together." When Couric denied it, Whoopi joked "it was somebody that looked like you."

"nobody as a right to burn [their own Dixie Chick CD's"
August 1, 2007 - 12:24 ET by drillanwrGee, now the French Hen's are right up there with the Koran?
DC CDs more hallowed
August 1, 2007 - 12:28 ET by LionKingThe liberals consider the Dixie Chick CDs more hallowed than the Holy Bible or the American Flag...yet they keep trying to win over the Christians and convince us they love America.
[For liberals, hypocrisy knows no bounds.]
"nobody as a right to burn [their own Dixie Chick CD's]"
August 1, 2007 - 13:12 ET by PamShe is wrong in that we do have the right to burn them, but in principal, I agree with her. How about just tossing them in the trash and never patronizing the musician, but burning them, as a form of protest, is no better than burning our flag in protest.
Just because you can say or do something doesn't mean you should.
Dixie Chicks don't merit the respect that the flag does
August 1, 2007 - 13:27 ET by Dee BunkPam - are you saying that the DC's deserve the same respect as our flag? I have to disagree with that.
I live near Chicago where Steve Dahl and Gary Myer used to have a radio program and they held a huge even at Soldier Field to burn disco albums. NO ONE had a problem with anyone doing that (it actually got out of hand but no one had a problem with the concept). The disco artists didn't go on some crybaby tour.
It's not like anyone is burning them in effigy like the liberals do to people all the time. That is hateful. Burning the DC CD's is just drawing attention to the fact that they are no longer going to patronize. People who burn our flag in our country are ungrateful hypocritical morons. If they don't like it here then they should go to a different country and do it.
What?
August 1, 2007 - 13:49 ET by RJWhat? Burning the Dixie Chicks CDs is no better than burning the flag?
Pam, rather than being thought a leftist simpleton, would you like to reconsider that statement?
"rather than being thought a leftist simpleton"
August 1, 2007 - 18:47 ET by PamNo I wouldn't like to reconsider it, but I would like you to proof read prior to posting something. What is it that made my statement leftist? Absolutely nothing, that's what. This isn't about left or right, it's about behavior, bad behavior.
Pam...
August 1, 2007 - 18:55 ET by LionKingPam...you do not see a difference between a CD and the American flag. That is why you are accused of being a leftist. Conservatives love this country and respect the flag as a symbol of this country...the said desecration of the American flag is a slap-in-the-face to the USA.
you do not see a difference between a CD and the American flag
August 1, 2007 - 20:24 ET by PamYes I do see the difference between the two. I am not for burning the flag or anything else, while one is protesting something/anything. To light a match in anger toward anything or anyone, shows hate, and imo, mental illness. There are much better, and more productive ways to get a message across. Again, just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should.
Moral equivalence is a hallmark of leftist thinking
August 1, 2007 - 20:33 ET by RJWell? Are you leftist?
Your tsk-tsking about hate/bad behavior/mental illness, and your equating burning the American flag to burning a CD sure makes you sound like you are....
Well? Are you leftist?
August 1, 2007 - 23:49 ET by PamNo, I am not a leftist, in fact I cite this blog almost daily. Do you have no other arguement than to accuse someone of being a leftist?
If it walks like a duck, Pam...

i.e. "if you equate burning a CD to burning the American flag, you might be a Leftist." :^>

August 1, 2007 - 12:42 ET by Senior ChiefBefore Rosie was known to be a loud-mouth and a lefty lesbian wacko, Goldberg was already way out there...
Now, ABC should think deeper since they are a business establishment and rating is the goal. They need to add a conservative talker. 3 to 1 is not fair and when Hasselbeck get into labor for a period of time, that show will tilt and sink to the left. FOX should produce same talk show format with a 2 to 2 lib-conservative combo. I will even hire Rosie back to sit next to Ann Coulter or Michelle Malkin. And that's a show- a WINNING entertainment formula!

August 1, 2007 - 18:32 ET by BradyCan anyone tell me why this woman doesn't have eyebrows? Recognizing how petty it is on my part, her lack of eyebrows has always piqued my interest. At what point in your life do you decide "Hey, I'll shave my eyebrows!" and then get up every morning, look into the mirror and decide to rinse and repeat. Does she get a "5 o'clock" shadow or does she ever go camping and not bother to shave for a day or two and thus end up looking rough?

Yawn.....Whoopi is co-host
August 6, 2007 - 18:00 ET by whatajoyYay!! Another "THE VIEW" post!!
I don't like the show, but I love Justin's blogs about the show, which have been very few and far between since Rosie was axed.
Whoopi, big deal. That was so predictable. Why can't they even out the playing field and have TWO liberals (Joy/Barbara) and TWO conservatives (Elisabeth/???)? Poor Elisabeth. It's three against one. And Whoopi is a BORING talk show host. Is this the best that Barbara could do? I would have expected her to get Janeanne Garafalo or Roseanne Barr, but Whoopi? Whoopi is so boring and her syndicated radio talk show is a borefest on satellite radio. I can't believe Ted Danson slept with her in the 90's. He must've been beyond drunk.
So, big deal. Whoopi is the new host. I tell ya, as much as I hated Rosie, she at least made THE VIEW interesting during her time on there. She was such an idiot and didn't care if what she was saying was pc or not, but that's what made it so funny. She gave liberals a bad name, and I'm sure the liberals are elated that she's gone. But as a conservative, she gave me a good laugh!!
