"Good Morning America" asked "What is going on?" with the stock market on August 16. Anchor Chris Cuomo asked Bianna Golodryga if the market drop is a correction or a recession.
"There seem to be two schools of thought here, those involved in all this sophisticated mortgage lending are saying this is the beginning of the end. But stock analysts are saying it is just a correction. Where are people's heads down there today?" said Cuomo
An on-screen graphic read, "Very Nervy Wall Street Correction Or Recession?"
Golodryga replied:
"We just don't know ... But at the same time, this isn't a recession. The economy and job market is still holding up."
"Good Morning America" is not the only program worried about recession. Business & Media Institute reported on August 15 that other media have wondered since August 6 if the markets are heading for a crash or will cause a recession.
BMI also interviewed a handful of economists who shared their thoughts on the stock market, mortgage market, the Fed and the economy.

Predictable
August 16, 2007 - 11:49 ET by mattmThe MSM is going to intensify their negative portrayals fo everything - the economy, the war, crime, infrastructure, climate, etc. etc. - in order to get Madame Hillary elected.
The Business & Media
August 16, 2007 - 11:52 ET by sarcasmoThe Business & Media Institute apparently didn't bother to ask anyone at CATO for an opinion, or we'd have no-doubt seen the I-word twice, but at least the guy from Heritage mentioned inflation once!

Correction Or Recession
August 16, 2007 - 12:02 ET by PamFunny, I don't remember this coverage when Clinton had the beginnings of a recession in 99'.
Or...
August 16, 2007 - 12:10 ET by mattm...when the economy stagnated after Clinton's 1993 tax increase.
Little Crissy Cuomo has got
August 16, 2007 - 12:39 ET by BeowulfLittle Crissy Cuomo has got to be the gloomiest talking-head on the idiot box. If there is a negative spin on a story, he'll find it. If there isn't, he'll make one up. What is it with this guy? I know he is playing politics, but doesn't anyone else think he goes waaaaay over the top with the doom and gloom? I thought Matty Lauer was bad, but he's like a bubbly ten year-old girl next to Crissy.

Bianna Golodryga
August 16, 2007 - 23:29 ET by Lame CherryBianna Golodryga needs an interview with the ABC execs to replace Cuomo. They can clone here and replace the manly Diane Sawyer too.
I quit all those morning shows long ago as CBS turned into this odd bald Hefner Smith Playboy thing with ugly women, ABC was like watching the Frankenstein show with manly Sawyer and that odd Gibson flat head and NBC.........was like watching all the dork kids from school got million dollar jobs.
Cuomo got the job as daddy was a communist like that creature Mika on CNN. Affirmative Reaction at work in the MSM.
