Jon Stewart Desecrates Nativity Scene to Make a Jab at Fox News
In a snarky segment aimed at mocking Fox News for dismissing the Democratic/MSNBC "war on women" meme, Jon Stewart placed a depiction of Jesus Christ's Nativity over a women’s vagina, gratuitously offending millions of Christians, not to mention non-religious folks with any shred of common decency. [Audio here. Video and image after the jump. Viewer discretion is advised]
In the April 16 Daily Show segment, Stewart proceeded to show clips of Fox News reporters talking about things like a “war on Christmas,” or “War on Easter” as proof that Fox was apparently ignoring the “war on women.”
During the segment, Jon Stewart took the iconic image of Christmas and placed it over a woman’s vagina, saying, “What can women do to generate the same sense of outrage from Fox as the removal of decorative slightly poisonous holiday plants? Perhaps they could play into the theme? Maybe women could protect their reproductive organs from unwanted medical intrusions with vagina mangers.”
Stewart aired the image again, with the Fox News logo attached to it.
Makes you wonder if Jon Stewart would make the same sort of disgusting “jokes” about Judaism or Islam?

COMEDY CENTRAL
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart
4.16.12
11:11 p.m. EDT
JON STEWART: Welcome back. Now, Hilary Rosen's comments on working mothers wasn't the only news last week regarding women in the workplace. Let's go to Wisconsin.
(CLIP)
ED SCHULTZ: Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker quietly signed a bill last night repealing the state equal pay law. Glenn Grothman who pushed for equal pay repeal explained, “You can argue that money is more important for men. I think a guy in uh, their first job maybe because they expect to be a bread winner some day.”
STEWART: Wow. Even for a bill meant to screw women, that takes balls. But it's just the latest in a series of conservative legislative efforts that seem to amount to a multi-state roll back a number of rights women have come to enjoy. I wish there was a pithier way to say that.
(CLIP)
AL SHARPTON: The GOP war on women has exploded.
STEWART: It’s catchy. War on women? There’s a problem with that one.
(CLIP)
STEVE DOOCY, Fox News: It's not a war on women.
MARK DAVIS, Dallas Morning News: The ridiculous of this war on women.
JANINE TURNER, Washington Examiner: They created this phony war on women.
DAVIS: It is only the bitterest cynicism that portrays that as a war on women.
JUAN WILLIAMS, Fox News: This is a made up phony war on women.
STEWART: Respect! I think what FOX is trying to say is that elevating this political fight to the level of “war” diminishes the seriousness with which real conflicts are engaged. War is real. War is hell. Not some casual metaphor.
(CLIP)
ERIC BOLLING, Fox News: In case you didn’t know, there's a war on Christmas in America.
STEWART: I did not know that. I did not know there was a war on Christmas because from my perspective, Christmas seems to be everywhere. (Laughter) But if Fox believes the attacks on Christmas are so serious as to warrant this label they are otherwise loath to use, I'm happy to hear the reasoning.
(CLIP)
DOOCY: A lot of companies haven't been saying “Merry Christmas.” They've been going “Happy holidays.”
Fox News Reporter: Calling the state house Christmas tree a holiday tree.
Fox News Reporter: A possible tax on your tree?
MEGYN KELLY, Fox News: The Tulsa holiday parade of lights. Formally the Christmas parade of lights.
BILL HEMMER, Fox News: The homeowners association, Doylestown Station, PA, banning colored and blinking Christmas lights.
STEWART: No colored lights? This is war! When it comes to Christmas lights at Doylestown Station, it's whites only. Only this time liberals won't lift a finger. That's a pretty strong case for a war on Christmas. You do have to ask then, so what evidence is there for some kind of war on women?
(CLIP)
ANDREA MITCHELL, MSNBC: Arizona's legislature would force women to prove to employers they are using birth control for medical reasons.
THOMAS ROBERTS, MSNBC: In Mississippi today, criminalize abortion at murder.
REPORTER: Arizona, now doctors will not face a lawsuit if they fail to tell parents about any risks the unborn child could face.
MITCHELL: Pennsylvania would require sonograms before abortions.
CHRIS HAYES, MSNBC: The transvaginal ultrasound–when seeking an abortion in Virginia.
CHRIS JANSING, MSNBC: The Violence Against Women Act. Now for the first time there's opposition to this.
LAWRENCE O’DONNELL, MSNBC: In Texas a bill that would block Planned Parenthood from receiving state planning money.
REPORTER: A bill making single parenting child abuse.
SHEPARD SMITH, Fox News: So if your one who likes to beat your wife, you should probably move to Topeka, Kansas because it's legal there.
STEWART: Of course if you want the best barbecue, Kansas City is where it's at. Eh, but for wife beating you’re gonna head to Topeka. Wow! So with all those attempts to curtail women's rights in area after area, are you telling me that, that doesn't raise the level of war? That doesn't bother anyone at Fox?
(CLIP)
GRETCHEN CARLSON: Uh. You know what? This gets me so upset. I have a feeling I might have to leave for these future discussions.
STEWART: You know what, I apologize Gretchen Carlson, exhibiting actual empathy for women–Oh, I’m sorry, she wasn't talking about women's issues. What was she talking about?
(CLIP)
DOOCY: There apparently is an elementary school in Stockton, California. They can't have things that remind people of the Christmas season like poinsettias or Santa in their classes because it might offend people who are not Christian.
STEWART: Well, that is upsetting! (Laughter) What can women do to generate the same sense of outrage from Fox as the removal of decorative slightly poisonous holiday plants? Perhaps they could play into the theme? Maybe women could protect their reproductive organs from unwanted medical intrusions with vagina mangers. (Laughter) I–I had not seen that picture. That really could be anything. That almost looks like the crown from those imperial margarine commercials. Or perhaps instead of asking for birth control, women could get an advent calendar with pills instead of chocolate. (Laughter) Oh! The 20th, placebo day! All right. Christmas is a special case. That is an incredibly important holiday. And again, I'm sure that nothing else rises to that level of outrage.
(CLIP)
Fox News Reporter: War on Hanukkah now too.
Fox News Reporter: This is the war on Easter.
ERIC BOLLING, Fox News: War on, wait for it. Fall holidays.
BRIAN KILMEADE: Let's talk war on Halloween.
DENEEN BORELLI: War on fossil fuels.
Fox News Reporter: The war on the constitution.
SHANNON BREAM, Fox News: The war on ladies' night.
Fox Business Reporter: The War on Fisherman!
BRIAN KILMEADE: Can you accept the war on salt?
SHEPHARD SMITH: It's the war on chocolate milk.
MEGYN KELLY: War on sugary drinks.
DOOCY: War on food.
Fox News: Is this a nanny state war on spuds?
STEWART: Oh, my God! No wonder we're having trouble in Afghanistan and Iraq. We're in like 18 wars. Oh, my God. We're Sparta. (Laughter) Seems like women are the only thing there's not currently a war on. Gotta be some way to earn America's women the coveted war label.
(CLIP)
SEAN HANNITY: The liberal media wages a war on conservative women.
Fox News: The media is waging against conservative women.
STEWART: Oh, so for Fox if–if women upset with recent Republican legislative restrictions want to be considered victims of war, the solution is easy. Uh, vote for them. We’ll be right back.

Ever since Hilary Rosen destroyed their "War On Women" template they don't know what to do with themselves.

The Stewarts of our world rely on the pacific nature of Christians. Let him do the equivalent to Muslims. I assure you he has not the courage.
I would suppose that this has nothing to do with politics. Stewart is more than likely what we call in counseling a “user.” He is on something or trying to stay off what he has been using. People struggling with addictions of one kind or another become irrational. Maybe his boyfriend upset him.
haha... so...

he makes a nativity joke and therefore he's a drug addict? Also he's gay?
And another point, mocking Muslims in this context wouldn't make sense. In fact, it rarely would, whenever the boring "try that on Muslims" refrain gets thrown about. Perhaps if the counterpoint to his argument was Fox News' "War on Ramadan"...
Yes, mocking muslims in this context wouldn't make sense.

I feel sorry for the poor people who don't know any better and believe this stuff exists.

Jon Stewart is betting
Submitted by wiley cat on Wed, 04/18/2012 - 12:26am.
Jon Stewart is betting everything he has on the proposition that human life has no intrinsic worth and that there is no reason or purpose for the phenomenon called life as we experience and observe it, to exist, other than accidental and inexplicable.
That is the only illogical basis (there is no logical basis) on which to build an equally illogical ethic that the object which (whoops--watch it) has appeared and is growing arbitrarily in a women's stomach, normally until the time at which the hangar doors (located in the arbitrary and accidental position at the bottom of the stomach within which the obviously growing object exists) swing open for the object to come into full view, to be evaluated by any number of other "objects with inexplicable life" for any number of other arbitrary and imaginary propositions, to decide which arbitrary and imaginary pseudo-description will be selected by the forcefully dominant "categorical imperative"-based power structure as the allegedly compelling pseudo-description of the accidental circumstances calling for the ending of the existence of the accidental "object with inexplicable life".
I would imagine that Mr. Stewart, in line with his if he hasn't already developed a "pseudo-description" of his solidarity with those championing the ending of the existence of the incubated, accidentally {or incidentally) "object with inexplicable life" (but with no intrinsic value). It is good that these objects can be seen dispassionately and without having to think about them as purposeful life. Thank goodness he does not have to worry about such things with respect to his own arbitrary and accidental life.
Without God there is no "Justice". With God there is no "Social"(...Class as a political entity.).
what is a liberal apology?
Submitted by thescoots on Wed, 04/18/2012 - 7:46am.
I liken it to perfectly healthy people who, because of an invalid mother, keep the "handicapped placard" hanging on the rear-view mirror and use it themselves....You have seen these people at Lowes or Walmart....they park up front in a handicapped spot...get out and trott into the store....and you think..WTF?
This is how a liberal uses an apology.....it is a tool that is meant for another entirely legitimate purpose....but the liberal uses it for personal gain...as access or a short cut....knowing full well that how that apology....just like the handicapped placard.....is being misused is wrong....No matter....the ends justifies the means....
For the record
Submitted by BosTarus on Wed, 04/18/2012 - 1:32pm.
This has nothing to do with Jon Stewart-I just want to address your faulty analogy of the placard.
Not that there aren't a ton of people who abuse the handicapped placards-but there are an awful lot of people who have handicapped parking privileges without the outward appearance of being handicapped.
Both my mother and my father in law fall into these categories. My father in law has post-polio syndrome-he's fine on his feet for a time (he's even able to play tennis for short periods of time)... but after too long on his feet he starts to limp, and if he doesn't get off his feet at that point, he can seriously hurt his legs. He gets awful stares from people when he hops out of the car, looking fine. Luckily he doesn't care a bit what other people think and he just goes merrily on his way.
My mother, on the other hand, is very sensitive; and as a result she doesn't use her placard. She has a multitude of diseases that make getting around tough at times-but she appears visibly fine as she gets out of the car. And she was hurt too deeply by the evil stares people would give her-so she never uses it. Aaaaand she's had problems in the past because she refused to use her space.
So please don't assume any non-aged/non-be-crutched individual parking in a handicapped spot is a lying cheat. There are many handicaps that aren't readily apparent on first glance. So please spare those folks your awful judging glares.

...that stewart's clips on the percieved war on women:
a) came from leftist media sources
b) dealt mainly with abortion and reproduction issues (with two exceptions about pay equality and wife beating -- extreme cases to say the least) .
There is a war, but it isn't against women. It's against the culture of death.
I have to wonder if tthere's any truth to his claim regarding Topeka Kansas. Maybe there is, but ol' John's been known to... umm... how should I put this... "stretch the truth" now and then, so forgive the skeptisism on my part.

Submitted by BosTarus on Wed, 04/18/2012 - 1:47pm.
a) yes. Because the whole point was comparing Fox's reaction to the rest of the media's. The bit was about about Fox's use of the phrase "War on _____", how they are "liberal" with their use of the phrase, except for in the case of the "War on Women".
and
b) including contraception as a part of the "culture of death" is a bit of a stretch.
Also, the Topeka Kansas thing isn't "his claim"... that's a news story-from Fox no less.
