Martin Bashir Bashes Rick Santorum Over Charity Giving, Fails to Consider Expensive Cost of Bella's Medical Bills
Bashing conservatives is nothing new for MSNBC or for Martin Bashir. However, on the April 13 edition of Martin Bashir, liberal British journalist Martin Bashir went on a rant about how Rick Santorum is a hypocrite for giving a small portion of his earnings to charity. Except there is one key fact that Bashir is missing. Rick Santorum is spending a lot of money on medical care for his sick daughter Bella. [Video below the jump]
It’d be one thing if Martin Bashir did not know that Rick Santorum had a sick daughter. Yet, Santorum has taken time off from the campaign trail to care for her, even citing her as one of the reasons for suspending his campaign. In fact, he even mentioned her care as a reason for not paying as much to charities as he would have liked. In an article published in the Christian Post, dated March 4, 2012, Santorum explained,
I was in a situation where we have seven children and one disabled child who we take care of. She's very, very expensive. We love her and we cherish the opportunity to take care of her, but it's an additional expense. We need round-the-clock care for her and our insurance company doesn't cover it so I have to cover it.
Bashir’s rant against Santorum was followed by praise of President Obama for giving 22 percent of his income to charity.
Perhaps Bashir thinks the NARAL-endorsed president is 11 times as godly as the pro-life former Pennsylvania senator.

MARTIN BASHIR: This week marked the end of Rick Santorum's attempt to win the Republican nomination. He spent months talking about his personal faith and haranguing the country for failing to do the same. But in his last tax returns, we discovered that he gave less than two percent to charity. Yes, less than two percent. It's hardly surprising that people will become cynical when politicians talk religion, especially when their actions don't appear to live up to their words. And particularly when one self-proclaimed Christian tends to give a minimum of ten percent of their income. I’ve no doubt that this election campaign will involve more ludicrous attacks on the President and his personal faith. But if you're not prepared to listen to his words, then why not take a look at his actions? The president, under no obligation whatsoever, gave twenty two percent of his income to charity. That is faith in action. Thank you very much for watching

I have come to strongly despise Martin Bashir
He represents the worse of the far left (as though there is a "best" with these vermin)
He is so intellectually and ethically challenged...why is he even on the air???
Because he represents the viewpoint of the far left,,,which explains why they love him
Bashir's a two-fer, maybe even a three-fer

He's "diverse" and non-American. And his London accent gives a bit of class or sophistication to his manner of delivery. He's a "Paki"* version of Piers "The Ploughman" Morgan.

And let's not forget the media bashing Romney because although he gives a lot to charity, the dont like the charities.

What did Marty the Basher have to say about the Bidens' measly 1.5%?
He and his wife both have high-paying jobs and ZERO dependent kids, ill OR healthy, to support!
Oh, but the Bidens don't "talk" religion, so I guess they're excused.

medical expenses and start the funding with a half mil out of his own pocket.
MR. Santorum would then have more money available for charitable giving.
And marty would be able to tell people that he put his money where it would be of value to Society in general, and the Santorum Family in particular.
But, then again, he is a liberal nutcase that only spends other peoples money on "Charitable" giving.

The term "insane" is, I believe, perfect for lib jackasses like Bashir. What's it to him what Santorum gives to his church or charity or whatever. Usually good churchgoing conservatives are going to give more than the average. The inference is, however, that Rick is not a genuine good guy. Despicable!

If I think of one, I'll use it in a future post; MSNBC won't dump him and he'll be back. Synonym contributions to my effort are welcome; especially those incorporating pustules, fungi, or in deference to the current Administration, algae.
Santorum gave more than Biden!
Submitted by cbeyer on Fri, 04/13/2012 - 11:02pm.
Biden is notorious for giving little or nothing to charities and gave one and a half percent during the past tax year. I am no fan of Santorum but the media bias here at constantly targeting conservatives and giving liberals a pass is noteworthy.

Martin Bashir works hard at being a complete dick.
Pardon my language, but there's just no other word that so perfectly describes him. It's as if the word and its meaning came into existence for the express purpose of being applied to Martin Bashir.

No, idiot, that's how much he claimed as deductible charity donations. There are other types of donations that you can't deduct. Get real, will ya?
The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States. The US Constitution
Unless you're a fetus. The US Supreme Court

Another consequence of big donations

In addition to the lamestream media pointing out the big charitable contributions made in 2011 by President O'Bonehead, they also are touting that the O'Boneheads paid a smaller percentage of their income in taxes than their WH secretary. Those two facts are not necessarily unrelated, but the lefties in the media won't tell you that. If you are in the highest tax bracket (currently 35%) and you give money to charitable organizations, your taxes come down at a rate of $35 for every $100 contributed. If you make approx $790,000 and you give $172,000 to charity, you will still be in the 35 percent tax bracket, but your taxes would be substantially less than someone who gave nothing to charity. A big decrease in tax from charitable contributions means a corresponding decrease in taxes paid expressed as a percentage of adjusted gross income.
