So now the media really cares precisely which foot of Sarah Palin may or may not have been across a border on one overseas trip? Why aren't they asking about some of Barack Obama's questionable overseas travel?
Dan Riehl says enough is enough:
Maybe it's time the media did some serious looking into the early travels of a fellow who wants to be President, not Vice President of the United States - Barack Obama.
This isn't crazy Obama Muslim Manchurian candidate stuff. Remember the Clintonite who off-handedly dropped the "drug dealer" line during the primaries? Well, anyone can source this below based upon MSM accounts, the news at the time or the few simple links provided. It's certainly enough to make me curious about some things.
By 1980 at Occidental Obama ran partly with a circle of wealthy, drug using Pakistani friends. He traveled to Pakistan between Occidental and Columbia in 1981. That was during the Second Military Era (1977-1988) - Pakistan was under Sharia Law and not the most welcoming to foreign visitors, especially without some graft or connections.
Based upon documented accounts, Obama seems to have also traveled the country-side, not just in the cities. By 1981 Pakistan had become the world's number one supplier of Heroin. Upon his return Obama took up residence with one of the drug using Pakistanis in a run down, presumably drug infested part of NYC in an apartment they couldn't qualify for based on income.
For a college kid out of California via Hawaii who ends up in a NYC slum via Pakistan partying with admitted drug users - using well beyond what Obama has ever admitted to, especially given the particular era, that Pakistan voyage is one very curious trip no matter how you slice it. And I don't mean for any possible Muslim/terror related reasons.
Here are some interesting quotes from Obama on this period of history.
In about 1982, Siddiqi and Obama got an apartment at a sixth-floor walk-up on East 94th Street. Siddiqi managed to get the apartment thanks to subterfuge.
"We didn't have a chance in hell of getting this apartment unless we fabricated the lease application," Siddiqi said.
Siddiqi fudged his credentials, saying he had a high-paying job at a catering company, ....
While Obama has acknowledged using marijuana and cocaine during high school in Hawaii, he writes in the memoir that he stopped using soon after his arrival in New York. His roommate had no such scruples.
The obvious question that the media are pretending doesn't need to be asked is...if you had to fudge the lease because of income, how did you afford the apartment. Why were you travelling back and forth to Pakistan so much with this known heroin associate? What was the relationship beyong roomates? Finally, why isn't the media asking these questions?

Obama trying to run out the clock.......
September 14, 2008 - 02:21 ET by BarkerIt has been pointed out that Obama's ties to terrorists such as William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn is enough to disqualify him from any law enforcement position.
There are far more questions surrounding Obama than there are days left until the election. This election is about more than just a man or a party; it is about whether Americans want democracy or socialism.
For one thing, Obama's '300 foreign policy advisors' are chomping at the bit to spread out into the State Department and the Pentagon. And that's just for starters.
It would not surprise me, however, if a campaign crippling revelation concerning Obama is brought to light some time, say, around October.;)
'It' can't come soon enough.
Congress and Security Clearances
September 14, 2008 - 03:07 ET by DamianoHere is the unfortunate truth: the official line on this is that by virtue of being in Congress, it is assumed that the party vetted you. So, the security clearance is pretty much assumed. The more confidential stuff is limited to respective committees, so the vetting process is again assumed.
In short, it's pretty much up the the media to vet candidates properly and disseminate that information to the voters. Once elected, no one can prevent a public official from the required resources to do their job. This is with the enormous omission and blatant cover ups and overt avoidance in exploring Obama's past is deeply disturbing.
It's a bit of a stretch to say that Obama's associations would disqualify him from most law enforcement jobs, since most employment laws prohibit that level of personal research on a person. It's more fair to say that he would likely be ineligable for a security clearance through more traditional military or private sector roles.

September 14, 2008 - 03:25 ET by Cool ArrowWith "What do I know about taxes" Charlie Rangel firmly ensconced at Ways & Means, It's not likely he'll get a cabinet slot.
Dr. George Tiller as Surgeon General seems plausible.

September 14, 2008 - 07:44 ET by on-the-rockshas become a little too much of an "old boy network" and vetting only goes so far. Maybe someone was running interference for him in the vetting process.
And maybe they are a little slack in the vetting process because they assume the MSM will cover for them.
Ithink you've got it right,
September 14, 2008 - 12:43 ET by celatorIthink you've got it right, and I agree completely with your assessment of the Obama "situation". The question I've seen come up is how high a security clearance above Secret (there are several levels above Top Secret, as I suspect you already know) various committee members should be given (if any). If you remember, that nutjob from Vermont, Patrick Leahy, got bounced from the Intelligence Committee for blabbing state secrets to the press. So one might assume that he does not have access to very much above Secret these days. Just guessing.
There were many questions about Bill Clinton's trustworthiness and associates, and what he ought to have access to, and the level of detail presented to him. If you remember, he met with his CIA Director only a couple of times for briefings. I don't know how the intelligence folks finally handled that, but I know it was a very tricky situation.
The major media report only half the news. Why are they surprised they have only half the potential audience?
It's pretty obvious Obama
September 14, 2008 - 01:40 ET by jkwtradingIt's pretty obvious Obama was a drug dealer , why isn't the FBI investigating.
