The MSM is reporting on Obama’s STRONG condemnation of his pastor’s controversial, racist, American hating remarks. Sister Toldjah finds the defense laughable. Despite the holes in Obama’s repudiation, such as the fact that he was a member of Wright’s church for twenty years and apparantly never heard one of his extreme remarks or the fact that Barack didn’t find the remarks enough to leave the church….Sweetness & Light dig up the inconvient truth: Obama Knew What His Pastor Was Saying. Despite this fact, Obama still put the man on his campaign.:
The Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr., senior pastor of the popular Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago and spiritual mentor to Senator Barack Obama, thought he knew what he would be doing on Feb. 10, the day of Senator Obama’s presidential announcement.
After all, back in January, Mr. Obama had asked Mr. Wright if he would begin the event by delivering a public invocation.
But Mr. Wright said Mr. Obama called him the night before the Feb. 10 announcement and rescinded the invitation to give the invocation.
“Fifteen minutes before Shabbos I get a call from Barack,” Mr. Wright said in an interview on Monday, recalling that he was at an interfaith conference at the time. “One of his members had talked him into uninviting me,” Mr. Wright said, referring to Mr. Obama’s campaign advisers.
Some black leaders are questioning Mr. Obama’s decision to distance his campaign from Mr. Wright because of the campaign’s apparent fear of criticism over Mr. Wright’s teachings, which some say are overly Afrocentric to the point of excluding whites.
Bill Burton, a spokesman for the Obama campaign, said the campaign disinvited Mr. Wright because it did not want the church to face negative attention. Mr. Wright did however, attend the announcement and prayed with Mr. Obama beforehand.
“Senator Obama is proud of his pastor and his church, but because of the type of attention it was receiving on blogs and conservative talk shows, he decided to avoid having statements and beliefs being used out of context and forcing the entire church to defend itself,” Mr. Burton said.
Instead, Mr. Obama asked Mr. Wright’s successor as pastor at Trinity, the Rev. Otis Moss III, to speak. Mr. Moss declined.
In recent weeks, word of Mr. Obama’s treatment of Mr. Wright has reached black leaders like the Rev. Al Sharpton and given them pause.
“I have not discussed this with Senator Obama in detail, but I can see why callers of mine and other clergymen would be concerned, because the issue is standing by your own pastor,” Mr. Sharpton said…
I think this is about as good a recovery possible for Obama on this…however I’m not convinced. I’m sure the MSM will be though.

Fri, 03/14/2008 - 23:03 ET by nwahsMSNBC can ignore it all they want, but this is the deal breaker. The hatred in those sermons is undeniable, and for Obama to pretend he never sensed anti-American sentiment in 20 years of attendance, is ridiculous. Coupled with all the other anti-American demonstrations and Freudian slips, I'd say its a definite deal breaker.
This is all just too much
Sat, 03/15/2008 - 10:00 ET by dronetekI love how they keep forgetting that Obama had a close relationship with this guy for 20 years. The fact that hes only distanceing himself now is extremely telling. Do they think people are too stupid to come to the same conclusion?

Obama NEVER missed what was said even if he wasn't in attendence for the exact quote.
But I predicted this would happen. This story is officially DEAD as far as the MSM is concerned.
Someone is going to have to buy air time, make commericals and air them and hope that the stations don't refuse to run them.
Otherwise Fogettaboutit.

The ignorance of a children's book by a guy on the radio is pretty easy to overlook; the ignorance of the hate his pastor is spewing by a presidential candidate is not.

Fri, 03/14/2008 - 23:36 ET by balboaFor the record, I find both hard to believe.
The only chance is that something happened in the pastor's life for him to become bitter and vicious, that this vitriol was a new "development." Either way, gotta believe someone on Obama's staff told him "Uh...you gotta get out of this mess."
bal, you may very well be right.
Sat, 03/15/2008 - 00:07 ET by R D HelmHowever, in my experience, events that cause someone to become so full of hate and vitriol come very early in life, usually during their formative years.
As this country once treated most black Americans rather shabbily, it stands to reason that something probably did happen to affect this man's view, but I'm guessing whatever it was happened a very long time ago.
True men of God do not allow events to turn them into stark-raving hate-mongers. And when they do lose control (and some do) it becomes the responsibility of the congregation to step in and see that the pastor gets things straightened out, through counseling or whatever. That clearly did not happen in this case.
As for Obama's advisors finally stepping in, that should have happened long ago. "Rev." Wright has been preaching this BS for a long time. Obama, with all of his education, should have realized that his association with this man could cause him problems down the road, particularly if he was seeking national office.
Not only that, but it was not just a matter of Wright endorsing Obama, but that he was on the campaign staff of the candidate.
No matter how you slice it, this does not look good for Obama.

Sat, 03/15/2008 - 10:07 ET by dronetekWhen I went to Ohio State University, they had a anual event called "Black Heritgae week". Being an open minded person, I decided to check it out with some friends.
Needless to say, I've never experienced racisim like I did that day. From constant calls of "honkey" and "cracker", to the black hate groups that had set up right in front of my dorm.
I actually stayed and listened to one of these guys for a while and I was treated to such gems as, "Whites were meant to be the slaves of black men" and at one point the guy on stage sees me and says:
-"Come up here man....."
-**Extends hand to shake
-**I shake his hand
-"You see? I can shake his hand now but when the times comes I will spill his blood".
That day I realized that no matter how open minded I was, that I'd always be a cracker to the hateful people I saw that day. The idea that Obama has some kind of special pass because someone was racist to him at one time is nothing but bullocks. ALL of us experience it at one time or another, even if youre white.
Bal, I don't know that Rush
Fri, 03/14/2008 - 23:16 ET by motherbeltBal, I don't know that Rush never heard the name Curious George, but I think it's at least possible that he didn't know he was a monkey in a book. I had heard the name, but didn't know exactly who he was until I had kids and bought kids' books. Rush never had kids. How many people do you think know who "Horton" was, or what the "who" was, that he heard, if they didn't have kids and didn't read Dr. Seuss?
But to believe Obama went to this pastor's church for 20 years and never heard him say anything objectionable like he did in that video...well that would require the "willing suspension of disbelief."
A man with that much vitriol inside doesn't just let it out every 5 years or so....Obama had to have been present once or twice. I can believe he might not have said those things in private, because it was part of his "show." But surely he got on a roll like that at other times in two decades.

I'll freely admit that he may not have been present when any of these sermons were given, but to think he didn't know anything about them, or know what kind of kind of guy Wright is isn't believeable.

I have a feeling the "Messiah's" candacy is over.

Now from a tactical
Sat, 03/15/2008 - 00:50 ET by Right2thePointNow from a tactical political standpoint look at what you get here.
Obama has to get people to really stretch to believe that his preacher of record only turned up the juice when he wasn't in the house. The rest of the time it was always just singing My Sweet Lord in hundred part harmony. So Obama gets tagged either as a liar trying to wiggle his way out of this or an incompetent who stuck with a preacher he should have ditched long ago and therefore isn't qualified to be in the White House.
Another aspect is Obama just won another primary with 90 plus percent black support....more of the Clintons painting him into a corner of being only a candidate of the blacks.
Then we have to guess is Obama letting him out of the campaign and the distancing done at HuffPo any more sincere than the Canadian NAFTA fluff up. Is this another, don't really matter it's just political rhetoric moment.
No matter how you cut it, if Obama self destructs on this Hill wins by default here for the nomination.
At a minimum Obama is going to have a lot of explaining to do to get past this which will tie up time he otherwise would be keeping Hill on the defense.
Line it all up and look at where the breadcrumbs lead.

Obama being defined
Sat, 03/15/2008 - 00:16 ET by m1xramObama has been as vague as possible. It's a great tactic, nobody can nail you down. There could be anything lurking in the fog but as you get closer features become more clear.
Now that the fog is lifting we're finding out that Obama has stuff in his closet too. With this new context his wife's comments make more sense, don't they? How could anybody be proud of the country the Pastor describes? Good thing American's don't live there.
m1xram
This explains his wife's anger
Sat, 03/15/2008 - 01:03 ET by BeukeboomBarack and Michelle Obama have been attending this church for 20 years. Michelle Obama makes comments indicating a dislike of America. Their "pastor" (and I use that term loosely...very loosely) gives a vitriolic sermon showing an intense hatred for America.
Hmmm...couldn't there be a connection there?
BTW, in regards to Christian leaders, the Bible does have specific guidelines as to their behavior:
1 Timothy 3:2-3
Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. (NIV)
Titus 1:6-8
An elder must be blameless, the husband of but one wife, a man whose children believe and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient. Since an overseer is entrusted with God's work, he must be blameless - not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. Rather he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined. (NIV)
So how many of those qualifications does Obama's pastor exhibit in his latest rants of racism and anti-Americanism?
bambi's pastor is a racist,
Sat, 03/15/2008 - 01:04 ET by jdhawkbambi's pastor is a racist, America is wrong, hate monger. It is obvious that the entire bambi family believes the vitriol of this "pastor."
So, I revise my thinking on bambi. I said before that he was merely a stupid, liberal politician that offered nothing more than the same failed policies that dimocrats have championed for over fifty years.
Now, I can say that bambi is a stupid, racist, American is wrong, hate monger who should not only stop running for the presidency, but resign from the senate.
We simply can not have a president or senator that holds the beliefs of bambi's "pastor."

Sat, 03/15/2008 - 01:12 ET by Right2thePointNow if you look around the blogs on this issue, you will see that all of the left wing 'progressive' blogs are totally up to their necks in defending and rationalizing this whole issue.
They have put all their credibility on the line in going totally into the tank for Obama on this.
His non denial denial happens on one of those 'progressive' blogs and is cheered by all the others.
If Obama tanks over this, Hillary gets those pain in the neck progressives off her back and she doesn't even have to show up at Kos Konventions any more.
The whole 'progressive' blogsphere goes into finger pointing mode after realizing they have been totally owned by the Hill and Bill.
After all the 'progressive' blogs have been on Hill's case this whole campaign and they don't have any love lost for each other.

This whole Rev Wright thing
Sat, 03/15/2008 - 01:48 ET by maggieqpublicThis whole Rev Wright thing takes me back 35-or-so years. The Reverend’s words are painfully Old School. Rev Wright is Black Panther, Stokely Carmichael, Black Power, Black Muslim Bakery, stereotype racial politics. It is the politics many of us were introduced to long ago… but were too timid to speak out against in the classroom and the community. Well, guess what, many folks in the MSM have also avoided confronting absurd racist hate speech. And now we have a presidential candidate dancing around with hate politics.
If people like me had spoken out long ago, we wouldn’t continue to have “successful” losers like Rev Wright spreading their poison.
But what about Obama? After his last debate with Hillary, I was quite disturbed by his passive nature. Obama is submissive, non-assertive. He aims to please… “Yes, Hillary, I reject Louis Farrakhan.” Today, Obama rejects the words of Rev Wright.
Sorry, I don’t want a passive President.
But the image of the return of The Clintons gives me chills.

Speaking of tax free status, wasn't that campaigning from the pulpit when he was talking up B. Hussein Obama and talking down Mrs. Bill Clinton? Is campaigning from the pulpit authorized if you wish to retain your tax exempt satus?
I noticed on the replay of Mr. Wright's interview on Hannity and Colmes that he is not a full blood African American. Is the hatred that he spews in the pulpit derived from the hatred of his white relatives?
Mr. Wright is a retired Marine. If so, how does one go from a Semper Fi Marine to "God Damn America!"?
