Will Media Ignore Michelle Obama Remark?

First she said that only Obama can "fix America's broken soul," and now this. If anything can stop Obama from getting the nomination or eventual Presidency, his wife running her mouth could be it. See video here.

“For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country,” she told a Milwaukee crowd today, “because it feels like hope is making a comeback.”

Doesn't this beg the question, "when did she become an adult"? Yesterday? The question is, will the media pay attention to this gaffe? Probably not much, and that is why the bloggers have to. Will Michelle be this year's Teresa Heinz Kerry?

So her husband's run for President is the only thing she has ever been proud of America for? That sounds quite self-centered and arrogant! Nothing? Nothing like winning the Cold War, or feeding poor countries? Wow! How selfish is this?

Did she mean this the way it came out? Shouldn't the media be asking?

Yes, they should be asking but of course they won't. This woman is a real work. I saw an early interview with her and her husband on 60 Minutes about a year ago. The interviewer asked her if she was ever concerned about Barack running for office because of possible death threats. She said, "He is a black man in America. He could be shot anytime he stops to get gas at a service station." She forgot about the black men killing white folks at gas stations in DC a few years ago I guess. With that kind of hate-America attitude and their Afro-Centric church and talking about saving the soul of all of us, we non Afro Centrists better watch out if they do make it to the White House.

Here's one scary scenario I read earlier today. Obama wins the WH. Immediately our enemies (take your pick) try to stir up trouble between the races. Then they make a serious attempt on Obamas life. Delsa, which post of mine did you find comedic? I hope it wasn't the one about Obama being more likely to be shot by another black man. I didn't mean for it to come off like I was joking about it.

I thought it was terrible of his wife to act like he could get shot while filling his gas tank, just because "he is a black man." And it is true that most crimes against blacks are committed by other blacks.

It seemed to me she was trying to make it sound like white guys would shoot him just because he's black. She was really "playing the race card" there.

I hope this clears it up.

Isn't she just expressing what a great country she thinks this is - her whole life she bought in to the popular culture and media myth that she has been getting screwed because she was black - a victim. Now she finds herself in the middle of a real chance at the white house. To some of our black co-americans who have been led by the likes of Sharpton and Jackson, her position as a possible first lady, has got to be pretty overwhelming. (there are times that I get carried away about this great country too.) I think she gets a pass on this. Unlike some of the candidates wives, at least she seems excited about the opportunity - who wouldn't?
