All Military Components Meet, Exceed Recruiting Goals

  • Bookmark and Share

As Ken Shepherd of this site has pointed out before, if the military falls short of its recruiting goals the MSM trumpet it and frame it as a result of an unpopular war. So how will the media spin this? How will they react to the news that all military components meet and/or exceed their recruiting goals?

The first month of fiscal 2008 was a success for all active and reserve military components.

In a meeting with Pentagon reporters today, Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman said all components met or exceeded their recruiting goals for October.

On the active-duty side, the Army made 101 percent of its goal of 4,500, with 4,564 recruits. The Navy made 100 percent of its goal of 2,788 recruits. The Marine Corps made 102 percent of its goal of 2,720, with 2,788 enlisting. The Air Force made 100 percent of its goal of 2,656.

I wonder how the media that doesn’t ignore this news will frame it? Perhaps the headline from MSNBC will lead the way? “Lowering standards to meet recruitment numbers.”

 Mr. Stephenson,  they

Mr. Stephenson,  they will not spin it...they will not report it.  These Neo-Stalinist want to set the agenda.  Per: usual.  This sets their agenda on it's ear.

They have very creative folks writing for them,  their Commissars will tell them exactly how to report this,  if they do at all.  Of that you can be assured.

I think I have an idea as

I think I have an idea as to how this can be spun. Kudos to me if I get it right:

Recruiting goals were set too low.

The Rocky Mountain Collegian: Illustrating Idiocy

..or they were bribed with

..or they were bribed with $$$ or the only place they had an opportunity for an education....or they will just ignore it all....

It will be the same old spin with the msm who detest it every single time the goals are met.

Not supposed to happen don't you know, they have done everything they can to dissuade anyone from joining the evil military....the same evil people who have fought and died for the right for them to spin and work against them.

Pathetic all of them.

they are signing up because

they are signing up because they know Bush will be gone soon, and they will be under the comforting command of the HillBillies again...

If they mention it at all,

If they mention it at all, which I doubt they will do, they will say the economy has gotten so bad, and there are so few jobs that these people had no choice but to join the military.

You forgot to finish the

You forgot to finish the article, if it gets written at all:

"17 year olds forced into the military due to abject poverty and uncaring parents willing to sign their childrens' lives away just so there will be one less mouth to feed in the family.  Social Secuirty recipients that can barely shuffle to their own bathrooms to down muliple medicines let alone pass an Army or Marine PT test.  And, cretins that the recruiter had to sign for because they can't learned to read or write.  McNamara's 100,000 - here we go again!"

No, they'll just skip the story.  Heck, they already have the general in charge of Army recruiting on record that recruiting will fall short.  Why revisit it - especially if they are proven wrong?

I submit to the judges you beat me to it because your brain and computer speed are three minutes faster than mine.

Where do I lodge a protest?

Let's face it...we're all

Let's face it...we're all thinking along the same lines.
My thought was spinning the rising gas and heating oil prices...parents having to kick out 18 year olds because they can't support them any more....joining up for what my Army son calls "3 hots and a cot."

Even if there were a lot of

Even if there were a lot of kids "joining up for what my Army son calls '3 hots and a cot,'" does anyone really consider that a bad thing? Barring those who get injured, I can't imagine anyone coming out of the military worse than they went in. At the very least, they've had professional experience, a steady diet and excercise, and regular pay for the duration.

}}---> Recruiting goals

Meeting recruiting goals obviously indicates "No child left behind" is failing so miserably that the "Stuk n Irak" syndrome is kicking in.

See?  I can do a "Bush's Fault" in one degree of separation.

Bingo!

Yep, Cool, you win THAT category! LOL

You guys are missing the Point

It should be reported in BIG FRONT PAGE Letters for all the Terrorist's to see.

Back in 2002, the USA today ran a front page news item on recruiting, claiming Recruiting was Down......after reading the Article, it was a very misleading headline.

IF the MSM claims BAD recruiting numbers on the front page for the Terrorist to Enjoy, the &^%%$#holes should publish the $#*&^ing GOOD numbers for Military recruiting for all the TERORISTs to see....otherwise, only Terrorists will be buying your MSM.....I certainly won't be buying it.

What good is a Free Press, if it is a False Press ?   David Foote  GoE

And at the same time....

....we have Mark Shields blathering away on PBS about how all the West Point grads (well, actually 1/3 or so) are quitting the Army as soon as their obligatations run out.

Hey Mark, would you want to stay in an organization that is continually stabbed in the back by the MSM and the leaders of the majority party in both houses of Congress?

But then again Shields was the one who claimed it was  the Democrats who were the abolitionsists in the run up to the Civil War.

Oh well.

The Clinton Years

That is not surprising that about 1/3 are leaving.  That is pretty stardard for graduates of USMA and ROTC.  What is not being looked at is the rate that officers left during the Clinton years.  I was one of the young officers who left AD after 6 years.  I was sick of the PC envirnoment.

I am willing to bet the numbers were higher from say 97 to 00 than they are right now.
