In case you missed it, the last episode of a CBS crime show, called "Cold Case," depicted Christian teens in an abstinence club as sexually active hypocrites that actually go to the extremes of stoning a member to death to keep their activities a secret. Quite extreme compared to reality. When is the last time you heard of a Christian abstinence club stoning someone to death?
The MRC's Culture and Media Institue, a defender of traditional values, says it is an attempt to influence this fall’s congressional debate on abstinence education programs. The show also depicts abstinence-only education as "useless, if not actively harmful."
Meanwhile in the real world of Iran, a real woman is about to really be stoned. Where is the media on this?
"The state-run newspaper Qods reported that a mother of three is sentenced to stoning. Reportedly, the evidence is video tapes of her having sex with another person." The man involved got away with 100 lashes. (h/t Gateway Pundit)

October 4, 2007 - 14:45 ET by Cool ArrowWell, if you can't actually equate Evangelical Christians and Observant Jews with Radical Islam in the real world, it's just as good to paint a picture showing how bad it could be if only it was that bad.

Tune into Criminal Minds and you constantly get jabs at civilians owning guns or like last night, "The murderer had to be a butcher or hunter".........yeah he was a furniture maker, but the FBI experts just knew by his lust for blood he had to be an American.
What is odd about Cold Case is that leading gal who looks like a vampire bit her or Al Gore was actually in growing up in a Christian musical family........guess the paycheck is all that matters to her now.

Typical lib to pull the old "found this in the Bible" stuff. David, being "a man after God's own heart" commited adultry and covered it up with murder. Doesn't make adultry and murder "going after God's own heart".
Old Testement (Jewish) laws were quite strict. Jesus came and asked those who were about to do the very act of stoning "he who has no sin, cast the first stone." They all left. Get the point?
Stoning is passe in the Judeo/Christian world, but as this blog addresses (and you don't), in the Muslim world it continues.

Of course not. We can't call them animals for stoning women, because it's their "culture." And who are we to say one culture is worse than another?
<sarc off>
However, insulting Christians, portraying them as hypocritical and evil, and pretending that they would stone a woman, is acceptable. In the Tom Clancy book made into a movie, (The Sum of All Fears?), they had to change the terrorists from Muslim fanatics to avoid repercussions from the Muslim world. THE LOTTERY...
October 4, 2007 - 15:59 ET by danybhoyThe only thing I can think of when it comes to a non muslim stoning death sort of thing was a short story written in 1948 called "The Lottery". It appeared in the New Yorker on June 28 of that year. It was made into some sort of movie(made for tv I believe)I remember seeing part of it when I was younger.
As for Hollywood smearing christians again, I'll tell you one of the big reasons why they do. Everyone who posts here knows who stones people to death, we also know what faith those people practice. If Hollywood dared to tell the truth about radical islam & it's treatment of women, gays, jews, & others who are not radical muslims like themselves, they would be targeted & killed. Christians don't threaten to kill those who say bad things about their faith. It does'nt happen. So it's too easy for Hollywood, nobody will end up dead like Theo Van Gogh. He was murdered by Mohammed Bouyeri because he made a 10 min film called "Submission", Bouyeri slashed his throat & left a note on him saying why.
Hollywood does'nt care if they go after christians, they know they won't die for doing so. They say radical islam is not the threat that Bush & others have said, that's their rational for opposing the war. But they know better then to point out the problems with islam, they too would have to live with that sort of threat, that would be too hard.

I think what Keith is
October 4, 2007 - 17:31 ET by drillanwrI think what Keith is saying is it's time to reach back, grab the Cat-O-Nine-Tails and turn the flogging on them ...
I agree ... While I'm not as religiously vocal as many of you on here (can't quote Scriptures or the Bible verses), I too take the flogging too quietly. We're not that Christ-like.
In the eighth grade I took the Sacrament of "Confirmation" (for non-Catholics, that's a renewal of Baptism during older childhood where you speak up for yourself ... unlike your Godmother and Godfather who had to do that for you when you were a baby ... and renounce Satan, becoming a "Soldier for Christ" ...)
While "spiritually" it was a personal recognition of Christ and my individual soul's devotion and loyalty to Him ... I never really physically understood that ... until recent years. Nor did I ever suspect when I was 12 yrs. old that I might actually be called to defend.
But what Keith is suggesting will only work if ALL Christian faiths unite together against things like this. Become allies ... Not that we're enemies. We just hold strongly to our different views.
I think we all are pondering if we are in a religious war of the ages .... on many fronts.
I DO know the other side in the war absolutely knows it.

October 5, 2007 - 00:40 ET by drillanwrI came to this conclusion while watching the Filipino guy on BOR this evening ...
ONLY cultures are to be protected ... not religions.
THIS is where it's a free pass for Islam ... It's both a religion and a culture ... It's all interchangable ... Footbaths in the airport? ... No, not religion ... it's their culture ... So, it gets protection.
Christians are just a religion. Doesn't matter what the rite or practice or custom within the denomination ... It's ALL just religion. So, everything about it is expendable ... Christmas? ... No, has Christ's name in it. Religion ... So Christians are totally open to bashing and trashing.

The first two shows were usually fun and uplifting. "Cold Case", like CBS's news division tilts left and often tries to send a message. I have no idea why my mom continues to watch it...the Christian stoning thing is stupid yet typical on every level. Judgmental? Check. Hypocrites? Check. Murderous tendencies? Check. The promiscuous girl as the one who is more "real" and compassionate and ultimately the victim? You betcha.
No sense of proportion
October 5, 2007 - 20:41 ET by GrannyGrump42I think it was Mary Meehan who wrote in Human Life Review that many members of the far left (though she was addressing abortion) lack any sense of proportion. Anything that makes somebody a bit uncomfortable is a horror too great to contemplate, but death or disability is no big deal -- as long as it happens to people that the far Leftie doesn't feel any connection with.
So real Muslim women really being stoned to death for real or imagined sexual behavior? No big deal. The hysterial Lefties are not burqua-clad Muslim women so it's Somebody Else's Problem. But chaste Christian teens? They frown at Sex and the City types, and it HURTS to be frowned at! "It's like, I'm being judged. I'm just so uncomfortable with that! They need to respect my lifestyle choices!" Therefore the chaste Christian teens are a horrible threat.
