Chuck Woolery: Only Thing Stopping Leftist Celebs From Paying Higher Taxes Is Hypocrisy
To me this ‘raise my taxes!” nonsense coming from wealthy hypocrites is exactly like this Global Warming nonsense coming from wealthy hypocrites. How’s this for a compromise: when you start living like the planet’s in peril only then will I stop laughing in your lying hypocritical face every time you open your lying hypocritical mouth.
To have gazillionaires wring their lying hypocritical hands over the plight of Mother Earth from air conditioned mansions as they ply their trade in an entertainment industry that guzzles more energy than Halliburton and Walmart combined, epitomizes a lack of self-awareness so pathetic it should qualify you as being mentally ill.
No one is stopping Matt Damon or Alec Baldwin or any one of these “tax the rich” Leftists from paying more in taxes. The only thing stopping them is their own “do as I say not as I do” hypocrisy. They refuse to lead by example and my guess is that their hypocrisy goes even deeper than this. Anyone want to bet dollars to donuts you’ll see — wait for it, wait for it — WRITE-OFFS on Matt Damon’s tax returns?
I didn’t think so.
Legendary game show host Chuck Woolery is all over this with a helpful PSA that should be titled: “The More Lying Hypocritical Celebrities Know.”
Over to you, Chuck:
This entire debate is really an indictment of a sycophant entertainment media that refuses to challenge statements like this from “geniuses” like Matt Damon. Maybe if some of these celebs knew they were going to be challenged they would work a little harder at back-filling their arguments. As things stand now, people like Matt Damon not only come off as hypocritical, they come off as stupid.
Don’t get me wrong, Matt Damon coming off as hypocritical and stupid is okay with me, but you would think that those on his side would want to do something about it.

tax the airwaves

Why don't celebs and other media types cry out for special taxes for using the public air waves? After all, they are able to exponentially multiply their market value "for free". This would allow them to assuage their guilt for being rich. Let's see, a gazillion dollars (celeb salary) times 90% (a reasonable tax rate in order to use public air waves to increase their own value) equals a balanced budget. I'm all for taxing the rich!
Hooray for Chuck ...

he understands GAME SHOWs better than most. I agree media elites should face repercussions for their endless ill-informed rhetoric. How about a 95% entertainment tax.
Ain't it the truth?

The very wealthy liberals who complain they are not taxed enough are the first ones to hire tax attorneys and accountants to lower their income tax burden, yet they can't afford to make a gift to the government to pay down the debt. Warren Bullfit's company already owes a billion in unpaid taxes over a decade (according to his company's external auditors and the IRS), yet he complains about paying lower taxes than his secretary?
The hypocrisy is just appalling.
Buffett and his shareholders

He understand he has a fiduciary responsibility to make as much profit as he can to please his shareholders so he'll fight tooth and nail to make certain the government gets as little as possible. What is humorous, to me anyway, is that he doesn't think the US Government has a fiduciary responsibility to taxpayers. He fully recognized years ago that the government is wasteful in its spending but he does not care!

Chuck, one suggestion: knock off the Walter "that's the way it is" Crankcase routine. Just use your cheerful game show voice but with a whole lot more exaggeration of that patented Chuck Woorlery smile for effect.
Keep up the good work!

FDR's "fireside chats" without a fire
Submitted by lrgon on Wed, 09/14/2011 - 12:45am.
Franklin Roosevelt delivered his thirty minute spots on the radio.
The pictures I've seen of FDR don't show a fireplace in the background. A CBS commentator named David butcher coined the phrase "fireside chats" without there actually being a fireplace in Roosevelt's office. The listeners might have tuned in to this socialist blowhard go on about some government program he wanted congress to pass and they might have had a fireplace. But most things that Roosevelt did were normally concealed in a socialist bag of tricks.

First of all, people like Obama claim all they want is that "the Rich" (a term that has no real definition) pay their "fair share."
Let's go by the top 1% taxpayers as being "the Rich." According to the IRS, the top 1% earned ~18% of AGI (Adjusted Gross Income) in 2010. They paid roughly 40% of the Income Taxes for that year.
So, they are paying at roughly 2x their number.
"Fair" should never be a measure, because "fair" is a SUBJECTIVE term. I could easily say that based on the above, "the Rich" paid far more than was "fair."
