HBO Targets Cheney With Miniseries Based on PBS 'Dark Side' Show

With a movie based on the gossipy, mostly unsourced, pro-Obama, Palin-savaging “Game Change” already casting and likely timed to boost President Barack –War of Choice! — Obama’s re-election bid in 2012, it looks as though HBO’s decided to double down with a miniseries written by a “West Wing” alum that’s based in part on the PBS (your tax dollars used against you again) Frontline documentary, “The Dark Side.”

HBO has optioned the book Angler: The Cheney Vice Presidency by Pulitzer-Prize winning journalist Barton Gellman for a miniseries to be executive produced by Paula Weinstein.

The mini, which will be based on the bestselling book and the Frontline documentary The Dark Side, tells the story of Richard Bruce Cheney from his early days as Donald Rumsfeld’s protégé in the Nixon administration, to the nation’s youngest Chief of Staff under President Ford, to serving as Secretary of Defense under George H.W. Bush, through two controversial terms as Vice President under President George W. Bush. According to the producers, the project will center on Cheney’s “single-minded pursuit of enhanced  power for the Presidency (that) was unprecedented in the nation’s history.”

In the meantime, don’t hold your breath for any kind of election-timed docu-drama titled, Jeremiah and Me, or Obama: The Lost College Years the Media Isn’t Interested in Investigating.

No check for Stephen F. Hayes?

Submitted by Tim Graham on Tue, 03/22/2011 - 8:24am.

What? No option moola for Steve Hayes? He wrote a book on Cheney, too -- but oh, it didn't play along the Darth Vader lines. PBS: your tax dollars not only trash Dick Cheney, but inspire more Cheney-trashing on HBO.

the brown lagoon

Because Leftist Liberal policies are basically a no sell to the American voters it is absolutely essential  that they run campaigns of personal destruction against their opponents in order to get Liberals elected.

It is a testament to their current desperation that they are now reaching way back into their archives of forgotten oldies to drag up Dick Cheney and flog him again but who except die-hard Lefties have any interest at all?

The Lefties don't want to face the fact that Americans have moved on.  Dick Cheney, George W, Rumsfeld are all names from history books now as far as voters are concerned.  Even 'Hope and Change' is seen as a campaign slogan and nothing more.

To get obie reelected the mud merchants will have to work overtime against whomever runs against him.  They will be given the full Palin.

Nonsense

Submitted by c5then on Tue, 03/22/2011 - 9:50am.

Cheney is NOT Darth Vader or even the evil emperor. He is more like stern and serious Master Windoo. The Princess Padme media do not want to hear anything negative about their young and handsome padawan, Obama, who they have fallen madly in love with. The padawan is simply misunderstood and his massive power is underappreciated according to them.

He must be re-elected to the ruling council so he can bring ballance to the budget. only he can see the importance of spending our way out of the recession and into prosperity. You see, the only way to save the republic is to give padawan Obama special emergency powers so he can fix everything and then relinquish them at a future date.

The anti-Cheney campaign never ends

Submitted by Galvanic on Tue, 03/22/2011 - 11:03am.

Personally, I never liked the guy, going back to his days as Secretary of Defense.

But it appears that as Obama's tenure lengthens, there is less and less positive image to address, so the MSM and entertainment media fall back on the Bush/Cheney bashing.

And that campaign long ago flunked its freshness test.

I think Obama's re-election campaign slogan will be "At least I'm not Bush."

Crush, Kill, DESTROY The Cheney!

Submitted by stratman on Tue, 03/22/2011 - 5:01pm.

Media goofballs must be worried Cheney is going to run in 2012 against C-3PObama, who no longer has Rahm2-D2 with him on the Millennium Phony. Fortunately Chewmomma remains with her assortment of Klingon death belts at the ready and Hans Soros has evaded carbonite stasis again and awaits rendezvous.

Anyone else think Obama's Administration looks like the bar scene in Star Wars?  I'd almost swear this video was taken last Wednesday at the weekly party in the White House.
