Krauthammer: Mainstream Media Can No Longer Ignore Fast & Furious
Following President Obama’s decision to use executive privilege to shield Attorney General Eric Holder from turning over documents to Congress, the mainstream media can no longer continue its media blackout of the Fast and Furious scandal.
Asserting executive privilege "has several immediate effects" upon the public's awareness of a scandal the media have heretofore largely ignored, Fox News contributor Charles Krauthammer observed on the Wednesday edition of Fox News Channel's Special Report.
The first is... there’s no way that the mainstream media, which have studiously tried to ignore this can do that anymore. In fact, as [Special Report host Bret Baier] pointed out, NBC, which has shown exactly ten seconds of coverage of this on its Evening News in the last year-and-a-half, is now going to have to explain the whole thing since the viewership has no idea what it’s about. So, number one, it becomes a huge national issue.
Secondly, it involves the president. Not that he was involved in the actual communications but he is the one that has to issue the, has to authorize the claim of executive privilege. Once he does that, clearly he is connected even though it’s not– it wasn’t claimed on grounds of presidential communications...

Speaking of blackout

I just learned today that after more than a year of discussion, the 17,000 member rank and file US Border Patrol agent union voted on Monday to demand AG Holder's resignation over this. Their website says "AFL-CIO" in huge letters at the top. They had a press release, which was carried by the AZ Star, the Washington Times and a couple paragraphs in the Daily Caller.
Of course this is all "politically motivated" and AG Holder is doing a great job when 17,000 of his unionized employees vote to demand he resign.

Inasmuch as the Department of Justice was created by the Congress, not the Constitution, it is silly to believe the DOJ can invoke EP against its creator.
The President shouldn't claim EP just because his lackey facilitated the deaths of 200 Mexicans and two border agents.
What was it Nixon caught so much flak over? And why do Mexican American love this President so much?
Let the spin begin

Get ready for the democrat talking points to be spewed every single time this comes up in the JVmedia. Every politico that is invited to talk about this will be subject to dealing with the talking points, unless they turn the tables with the reality of detailed human cost. Every response to any question/scenario set forth by the JVmedia must be prefaced with some version of:
What you are asking about is the cover up of the Murder of two U.S. Agents, Brian Terry and Jaime Zapata and the further murders of hundreds of Mexican nationals at the hands of drug cartels that were given these assault rifles by the actions of this administration implementing Fast and Furious.
This is a topic that is going to be pitched as a witch hunt and GWB's fault. Those are the initial talking points that have hit the air. Don't let the weakness of cowardly politicians help the JVmedia cover for this administrations deadly actions. Spread the word that it is a simple matter to beat the left on this because they(the JVmedia) are aiding and abetting the cover up of the Murders of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry and ICE Agent Jaime Zapata.
I would love to see one of these politicos ask one of these sycophants why they hate Border patrol and ICE agents so much that they would help to cover up their Murders or the murders of over 300 Mexican national for that matter. Can't you just see Creapy Chrissy's head exploding over at PMSNBC?

Ah yes....it's Bush's fault

And oddly, the e-mails regarding the "Bush" gunwalking program are widely available.
Furthermore, agents tracked the walking guns.....on both sides of the border. Unlike Holder's program, where there was no method to even track the walking guns, nor any cooperation or even notification of the Mexican authorities that it was allowing unsupervised weapons into the hands of criminals.
I don't think the patented Obama ---> BUSH'S FAULT is going to work this time.

You and I both know they didn't care to stop the guns, they wanted to use it for more gun control. When they held the contempt vote the other day I think it was Maxine Waters or the other useless idiot Shelia Jackson Lee that hit on that very subject; more gun control and more ATF agents.

The democrat motives are so transparent even a blind person could see through them.

Not sure where Charles K. is coming up with this nonsense, but the MSM absolutely can continue to ignore it....just like they ignore everything else.

First clue - labeling Mr. Krauthammer's opinion as nonsense.
Second clue - not having much to say after that.

Sorry, Vet, you're wrong!
So much of the time, The Hammer is right on the money with his observations. This time he's wrong. NBC and ABC can, indeed, continue to ignore this story, as they have done for the past 18 months.
CBS has done a creditable job of reporting it. They could have done even better by doing an hour long expose on the F&F program. If CBS really wanted to establish bona fides as a real news agency, they would also compare Bush's Operation Linebacker and Obama's Operation Fast and Furious. http://drawandstrike.blogspot.com/2012/06/stupid-new-liberal-talking-poi... does a very good job of comparing the two.
It is true that NBC and ABC, along with CNN, et al. can only continue to diminish their credibility, an item that is nearly non-existant, if they continue to ignore F&F, but what makes you think they give a rip about credibility? Especially NBC and their sewer dwelling lovechild MSNBC.
As for your second sentence, what more needs to be said after he made his point? Does a commenter need to write a Doctoral Disseration to have a valid point? Methinks thou dost protest too much.
Sorry Mr B.
