ABC Ignores Own Poll Showing Majority of Americans Support Benghazi Select Committee
On Tuesday, June 3 the latest Washington Post-ABC News poll found that 51 percent of Americans support the formation of a select committee to investigate the terrorist attack in Benghazi.
Despite the new polling, the June 3 ABC World News with Diane Sawyer ignored the poll completely but had time to run a full story on the strength of different cell phone cases. [See video of MSNBC's Chris Matthews commenting on the poll below.]
The new poll found that while 51 percent of Americans support the formation of the Benghazi select committee, 42 present oppose the committee. In addition, 58 percent of Americans believe President Obama covered up information surrounding the Benghazi investigation. Only one-third of Americans say they believe President Obama has been honest with the American public about what happened in Benghazi.
Despite the fact that ABC chose to omit its latest polling on Benghazi, MSNBC's ultra-liberal Chris Matthews commented on ABC's findings, although he chose to dismiss the results. On his Hardball program on Tuesday night, Matthews mocked how "The Republican strategy of saying Benghazi, Benghazi, Benghazi every chance they seem to do it pays off apparently...So keep saying it, people keep listening."
It's unfortunate when ABC's evening news program refuses to mention its latest polling yet a competing network, albeit by mocking its results, reported on the American people's continued desire to seek answers in the Benghazi scandal.
