Inhofe Ambushed on CNBC's 'The Kudlow Report' by Fill-in Host over ClimateGate

When viewers tune into watch CNBC's "The Kudlow Report," they may not anticipate a host interrupting conservative Republican Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla.

But on CNBC's Nov. 24 "The Kudlow Report," fill-in host Simon Hobbs attempted to do just that. Hobbs, a regular on CNBC Europe, suggested there was nothing to emails unveiled after a hacker allegedly accessed the Climate Research Unit at University of East Anglia in Britain. These emails showed an effort by scientists, some on the United Nation's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), to manipulate data to strengthen the claim of anthropogenic global warming.

"You're well-known as a campaigner or man that believes humans are not the cause of global warming," Hobbs said. "I mean, specifically if you look at the coverage we have, the allegation is that the emails indicated that they were declining to share data with fellow scientists or they were seeking to keep other researchers with dissenting views from perhaps joining them on some platform. It doesn't indicate that the science was wrong or that the science was manipulated."

Inhofe refuted the claim and explained this was something he had suggested all along - that this theory of manmade global warming was a hoax.

"Oh yes it does, it shows that the science was manipulated and that some science was excluded, Simon," Inhofe replied. "Let's keep in mind now, it first started way back with Kyoto. I was a believer because everyone said that anthropogenic gases cause climate change. Or cause global warming. And until we found out what it would cost the people of America when the Wharton School did their thing, MIT did their thing, it would be a tax of $300-to-350 billion a year. So I though let's really check into science."

Hobbs interrupted Inhofe and demanded to know what specific evidence he had that those emails indicated "manipulation."

"I'm sorry, but I'm going to be terribly rude Senator, but I'm going to interrupt you again," Hobbs said. "What specifically in these emails indicates that the science was wrong or that the science was manipulated because that is not the reading that the international newspapers who have poured over them have to a man or woman come to."

But James Delingpole of the Telegraph (U.K.), in a post dated Nov. 20, has actually found several points to contend Hobbs' claims there was no effort to manipulate data to push the anthropogenic global warming theory:

  • Manipulation of evidence
  • Private doubts about whether the world really is heating up
  • Suppression of evidence
  • Fantasies of violence against prominent Climate Sceptic scientists
  • Attempts to disguise the inconvenient truth of the Medieval Warm Period (MWP)

Still Hobbs' pressed on and accused detractors of global warming alarmism of engaging in a "witch hunt."

"They've declined to share data - I mean, isn't there - the emails are naïve," Hobbs said. "They demonstrate a frustration from the limited ones that I've read, a frustration that the scientists so fervently believe what they believe can not in a marketing sense get their message across. But, isn't there a danger that we turn this into a witch hunt for a global conspiracy that for which there is absolutely no evidence?"

Inhofe fired back and explained it wasn't an "witch hunt," but an effort to show only one side of the science.

"Boy, I don't know where you come from - call it a witch hunt," Inhofe replied. "I can assure you that Kudlow wouldn't. This is something where one half - one side of the science has been shown all the way through and that's why these scientists, some of them have changed over like Claude Allègre from France, like David Bellamy from U.K., like Nir Shaviv from Israel. They were the ones who were marching down the aisle with Al Gore at one time."

Kudlow owes Inhoff another

Kudlow owes Inhoff another appearance without the idiot stand in. If he does not, Kudlow is going to catch hell from viewers including me.

I disagree

Kudlow may owe Imhofe an apology for his twit stand-in, but he does not need to give him another appearance.  Imhofe stuffed it so far up Hobbs' six that he will walk funny for a while.

''Imhofe stuffed it so far up Hobbs' six that he will walk funny for a while.''

You got that right. And TWIT is the only way to describe this idiot for ignoring the facts and continuing to rant the AGW Talking Points. I liked how Imhofe took us back YEARS in the disproving of the IPCC ''science'' (Peer Science, actually, and isn't THAT a hoot!!!) and that he knew that they could not keep this kind of chicanery hidden for long. And he did it so rationally and calmly.

Perhaps the most hilarious part was when Twit-boy seems to think that because Mann works for Hussein, well, then there is NO argument as to Mann's creds.

I don't care who you are, that there is FUNNY!

CBS may be in trouble

I know CBS's motto is "We're dead last and we're proud of it", but they may be getting a serious challenge from CNBC.  On the other hand, I am surprised the topic even made a broadcast so CNBC may be shooting for next to dead last....

Any conservative or

Any conservative or republican should KNOW by now what to expect if they appear on one of the Obama media cabal's shows.  Ambushes, dirty tricks, lies, obfuscation, argumentive hosts, insults... In short - total unprofessionalism.

It's a losing bid to expect 'fairness' from any of these channels, since they were IN ON THE CONSPIRACY from the start!  Of course they're going to try and bushwhack the truth-speakers and shout them down....  Their literal lives are on the line since they sold their lives to the perpetuation of this hoax.

Rude: A true talking head

Hobbs is one rude Bastid. I would have put him in his place. Then a hangup would have been in order. Then a call to his boss.

No Ambush that Inhofe can't handle

I would say Mr. Hobbs escaped with his tail between his legs.  You don't ambush a Okie like Inhofe.  He has more integrity and grit in his little finger than Hobbs has ever had in his whole life.

WAIT A SECOND...

How can Hobbs say there is nothing in the emails?

If I told you, "Say, here is where the bodies are buried & I'll tell how I got away with murder." You think there is something to that. That is what these emails are in terms of the scam of "GlobalWarming/ClimateChange".

Inhofe and others need to arm themselves ...

There are any number of lists out already documenting the CRU scientists' attempts to hide declines in temperature, exaggerate supposed increases, hide the Medieval Warming Period and Little Ice Age.

Anyone who wishes to discuss this scandal can very easily arm himself or herself with facts and sources.

I'd have asked Hobbs to cite his sources and to reveal how many of the thousands of emails and documents he has read.

The left will spin this scandal the only way they can ... by being loud and rude and pretending that there is a consensus that there's nothing to the story.

They'll argue that we're just not smart enough to understand the issues involved when all you have to do is let their own words hang these charlatans. But have the words handy, for Heaven's sake.

The Lawyers' Rule

The left will spin this scandal the only way they can ... by being loud
and rude and pretending that there is a consensus that there's nothing
to the story.

It's the old rule of lawyers:  If the facts are on your side, argue the facts.  If the law is on your side, argue the law.  If neither is on your side, pound the table.

The facts mean nothing! There is a consensus!!

Conclusion?

I certainly do not know the "ins and/or outs" of all this "debate," but the clear impression I got from this exchange was that Obama has (once again) likely surrounded himself with advisors who will give him nothing but a one-sided view of a very complex subject.

Stop federal judges from foisting their notions of "fairness" on the States.  Amend the 14th Amendment! - tim413

Note To Simon Hobbs:

Update: It has become fairly obvious this archive was not "hacked" or "stolen" but rather is a file assembled by CRU staff in preparation for complying with a freedom of information request. Whether it was carelessly left in a publicly accessible portion of the CRU computer system or was "leaked" by staff believing the FOIA request was improperly rejected may never be known but is not really that important. What is important is that:

  1. There was no "security breach" at CRU that "stole" these files
  2. The files appear genuine and to have been prepared by CRU staff, not edited by malicious hackers
  3. The information was accidentally or deliberately released by CRU staff
  4. Selection criteria appears to be compliance with an or several FOIA request(s)

Building a consensus = building bandwagons

If you think about it, politicians build consensus in much the same way. Political movement always has the same problem: how do we motivate others to get on our bandwagon? The first task is to create the bandwagon in the first place.

  • Now, your issue may be true by itself, anyway, but politically that doesn't matter. What matters in politics is getting a huge number of people to agree with you.
  • So, how do you start a bandwagon in the first place? These days, we all use polls, because Americans seem to love jumping on any bandwagon that they think everyone else is jumping on. We're kind of stupid that way.
  • That's why these emails were a scandal. True, they may not be evidence about the science of global warming. But they are smoking gun evidence of how these scientists were trying to create and sustain their political bandwagon. And once you remember that the global warming bandwagon promises to reward these scientists with gazillions of dollars in finance money ... well, it makes us all a little more skeptical.

When Hobbs claims the emails don't address the science, he's just being dense on purpose. He's trying to distort what the scandal is about to make it appear to be about nothing. Journalists do that all the time, e.g., I argue that this was their method when Clinton's grand jury perjury was "just about sex." And if you add in the patronizing and condescending smugness of "I'm sorry, but I'm going to be terribly rude Senator, but I'm going to interrupt you again ... " it shows that they have to resort to rhetorical tricks and attitude instead of facts or logic.

Pay attention to this media tactic. They use it all the time.

Imhofe knows his information

Great job.

Dr. Trenberth had a response to Climategate last night.

On Special Report. He was one of the ones in the exposed emails.

An email by a Dr. Trenberth says, "The fact is that we can't account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can't."

His response was on Special Report.

It certainly doesn't mean that there is no global warming. It does mean we don't have a complete enough observing system to fully track exactly what's going on and especially why it's going on.

Global Warming is happening. Um, there are some uncertainties and and the models are not perfect. And the key questions are then what do we do about it. And this is where the debate certainly is required.

Let me get this straight. You can't observe what is going on currently. You can't say why any current changes happen. There are uncertainties so the models cannot be perfect.

Yet, we are to believe you can predict what will happen in the future? You did not even predict the decadal warming period of the last ten years.

I don't know the long term result of Climategate. Based upon statements like these, I would say the debate is far from over and we most definitely should not drastically alter our economy for a long time to come.

Sincerely,

a Veteran of a 1000 psychic wars.

That's hilarious!

Even as he  admits that there is uncertainty and the models are flawed, he  still insists "Global warming is happening."  And then changes the subject to  And the key questions are then what do we do about it. And this is where the debate certainly is required.

We don't need no stinking proof.  We have a consensus!!

I caught that also. I had

I caught that also. I had to laugh. We don't have the ability to explain what's going on. But we're right. Good going there Kevin.

As great as the tapes are. The attempts to explain this away are a hoot.

Did Kevin Trenberth ever appologize to Chris Landsea?

The gift that keeps giving.

"You lie!"  Rep. Joe Wilson R-(SC)

What a hoot!

What a hoot!

We don't know why, we can't predict when, we aren't sure how, but IT'S A FACT, JACK!

I do believe this proves that Man Made-UP Global Warming is true.

Another classic example of the arrogance of these "scientists": They actually believe that we can go to Mars and release enough CO2 into the atmosphere to warm it up enough for habitation. Mars is 50 MILLION miles further from the Sun than the Earth is.

When asked if he went to war with Iraq  to derail the impeachment vote:  “I don’t think any serious person would believe that any President would do such a thing." - President Clinton (Dec 1998).

How much CO2 would they

How much CO2 would they have to release? Mars' atmosphere is already 95% carbon dioxide and "Martian environment temperature ranges from 130K (-143C) to 270K (-3C). Average daily temperature 200K." (-73C)   (http://marsrover.engin.umich.edu/projects/research_reports_2001/ThermalBalanceReport.pdf)

Whereas, earth's atmosphere is 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, up to 4% water vapor, and only 0.0360% (that is thirty-six one thousandths of one percent) carbon dioxide, and with only that miniscule amount of carbon dioxide, the temperature on earth is much higher than on mars. If carbon dioxide is such a powerful greenhouse gas, why isn't the temperature on Mars smokin' hot?  As you said, it is much further away from the sun.  But, then, the warmers claim that solar variability doesn't have anything to do with terran climate.

"A communist is someone who reads Marx.  An anti-communist is someone who understands Marx."  Ronald Reagan

Did you hear the other

Did you hear the other argument being put forth now about the last 10 years? "Well", they are now saying, "our models are good enough to predict the long term, but they might not be able to accurately predict short term periods of 5 or 7 years."

Yeah, right. So let's go bet trillion$ on that there long-term-prediction model,  ok?

Good job, Imhofe

I get really tired when these guys want to cover up one side of an issue.  That is why we have a President which the media refused to vet.  Wonder if they will ever come up with "buyers remorse".

Playing These Idiots

Playing these idiots is similiar to catching a big fish! Once you hook the fish, you let him jump and swimm around slowing bringing in your line. When you get him close to the boat, you net him! As these libs keep jumping and squirming, we're slowly reeling them in and soon WE'LL NET THEM!

NIWA, what's that?

And then along came NIWA ...

The way the whole climate fraudsters are operating is enough to tip anybody off with just a modicum of science experience that something is very wrong with the man-made CO2 driven global warming hypothesis --- yes it's a hypothesis, someone's idea of what might happen, or might not.

If earth's climate were so sensitive to CO2, we would all be dead long ago ... positive feedbacks are very destructive, and result in near immediate destruction of the host. When the volcanoes in India erupted, millions of years ago, with enough lava to cover the entire North American continent with lava 600 feet deep, that attendant amount of CO2 and SO2 exhausted into the atmosphere would have destroyed all life on earth -- but it didn't.

But proof the hypothesis is false is the missing CO2 atmospheric signature over the equator +-15 degrees latitude -- Al Gore's 'blanket' if you want to call it something. The fact that it cannot be found, and measured, is a sure sign the AGW hoax that electricity generation and cars are destroying the earth is false.

And now we know the data has been falsified.

Hobbs is an Obamabot

I love how he injected at the end of the video that Mann is a member of Obama's staff, like that makes him legitimate.

What a tool.

CO2 lags temperature

I believe there is evidence that co2 build up LAGS a rise in temperature.

Algore actually read the graph backwards... which for him is frontwards.

It's one effect of Boyle's law (and a couple others as well). A warm fluid holds less disolved gas. Climate heats (usually due to the Sun), oceans heat, water effervesses disolved gases. Done.

As obnoxious, overbearing

As obnoxious, overbearing and destructive as the "environmental" movement is over here, at least there is a significant enough collection of courageous and intelligent people in the U.S. to stand up to the eco-Marxist bullies.  Over in Britain the virus of "environmentalism" has spread to the extent that the groupthink has infiltrated the lion's share of liberals and conservatives.  You have sports fans calling in to the football talk shows obsessing over the "carbon footprints" they've left travelling to away games!  The sole purpose of the eco-parasite is to take the joy out of the lives of others...thankfully, we've got true heroes like James Inhofe to tell this Gladys Kravitz mob to stick it where the Sun don't shine.

"I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered."  -George Best

The only way the MSM is

The only way the MSM is going to treat this issue correctly and expose the hoax is if its current members are removed and replaced with actual journalists.

People on the so-called 'right' should be prepared to question the credibility of ANY "journalist" they are about to encounter.

After Hobbs said, "...blah,blah blah....It doesn't indicate that the science was wrong or that the science was manipulated."

Inhofe should have said, "Simon, is that a question or a statement?  Are you trying to get at the truth or are you trying to run cover for the people pushing the global warming hoax?"

Throw it back in their faces.

Climategate explained in the Wegman report.

“• What is the current scientific consensus on the conclusions reached by Drs. Mann,Bradley and Hughes? [Referring to the hockey stick propagated in UN IPCC 2001 by Climategate Michael Mann.]Ans: Based on the literature we have reviewed, there is no overarching consensus on MBH98/99.   As analyzed in our social network, there is a tightly knit group of individuals who passionately believe in their thesis. However, our perception is that this group has a self-reinforcing feedback mechanism and, moreover, the work has been sufficiently politicized that they can hardly reassess their public positions without losing credibility.”  AD HOC COMMITTEE REPORT ON THE ‘HOCKEY  STICK’ GLOBAL CLIMATE RECONSTRUCTION, also known as The Wegman report was authored by Edward J. Wegman, George Mason University, David W. Scott, Rice University, and Yasmin H. Said, The Johns Hopkins University with the contributions of John T. Rigsby, III, Naval Surface Warfare Center, and Denise M. Reeves, MITRE Corporation.
