Olbermann to Left-Wingers Opposed to Limbaugh’s Rams Purchase: Stand Down

Remember how the left was up in arms about the possibility that conservative talker Rush Limbaugh might purchase the St. Louis Rams, especially from the left-wing noise machine and the pundits that echo its message?

Well, in a curious turn of events on MSNBC's Oct. 8 "Countdown," host Keith Olbermann told his viewers that those who are opposing Limbaugh's bid for the Rams were the third worst people in the world on this particular day.

"The bronze tonight to critics of Rush Limbaugh," Olbermann said, referring to the third place contestant, the "worse" person, on his "World Worst Person in the World" segment. "You heard me - critics of Rush Limbaugh, ones who were bristling at the news he and hockey executive Dave Checketts might buy the NFL's St. Louis Rams, suggesting he should not be permitted to because he made racist comments about Eagles quarterback Donavan McNabb that resulted in Limbaugh's firing by ESPN in 2003."

Technically, Limbaugh resigned from ESPN according to the network's Web site. But Olbermann, a former ESPN anchor himself, scoffed at the idea that Limbaugh should not be allowed to take ownership in the National Football League based on his past comments about McNabb.

"There are now going to be character tests for sports owners?" Olbermann said. "There will only be three of them left. Unless they beat the Vikings Sunday, as of next Thursday it will have been a full year since the Rams won a game. My God, if Limbaugh wants to buy them, far be it for me to tell them he's flushing his money down a rat hole."

Olbermann could have his own self-interests in mind. It's possible he could be concerned what sort of precedent a denial by NFL owners could set. Olbermann doubles as an anchor for NBC's Sunday night NFL broadcast for the pre-game and halftime shows and he certainly has said some less-than-flattering things about conservatives over the years.

The Left's useful idiot

The Left's useful idiot here will be ignored. He's only liked because he ticks us off...few of the Leftards actually watch him, much less take orders from him.

One of the 34% who thinks George W. Bush was a great President. One of the 86% who wants to bring back the stock and pillory.

Self Interest?

LOL, kinda sorta maybe.

Obertoon is looking for his next job....or at least hedging his bets.  His ratings are pathetic, he's hoping his "roots" may still be viable, and hopes if he ends up back in the sports arena, Rush won't kick his butt out of the Sky Boxes.

This is the funniest thing I've seen in quite a while.

Rock on, baby!

I hope he fails, too.

Hmm

I'm going to have to take him at his word on 'character test for sports owners' here.  Though he alludes to the dismal Rams, I think he is actually endorsing liberty and the free market, while subtly 'almost' delegitimizing the 'racist' comments Rush ACCUSED the media with.  Just when you thought you knew anything about liberals.. though I'm not so quick to give kudos yet.

Wow for a supposed sports guy

Unless they beat the Vikings Sunday, as of next Thursday it will have
been a full year since the Rams won a game. My God, if Limbaugh wants
to buy them, far be it for me to tell them he's flushing his money down
a rat hole."

He sure hasnt been following the NFL lately. You can turn a team around in a heart beat these days. The Cards, CARDS where in the Super freaking Bowl last year. This guy is clueless about everything

Rams

The Rams are very, very bad though, worst offense and defense in the league!

I think my Gators

could beat the Rams, this weekend.

Having said that, though....I think Rush will turn it around.

And I, for one, shall be pleased.  Very, very pleased.

I hope he fails, too.

Yep, they probably could beat the Rams

Too bad you have to play LSU instead!

Well....LSU

It's going to be a good game.

However.....night game, Death Valley...only good for +6.  That means you're going to need another 22 to get over on us..

Good luck with that.

I hope he fails, too.

I like our chances,

We got some pretty big fast badassed kids on that team.We havent played very well together yet, but I think it's coming.

I had to turn down 2 tickets to the game today, my luck is pitiful.

Ya'll haven't seen fast......yet.

Yet.

See you Saturday.

I hope he fails, too.

Have fun Blonde

You might be +7 but welcome to death valley. LSU fans are the best. Try the food.

                     GEAUX TIGERS

Hey Cajun

I've heard alot about those Cajun tail-gate parties.  So, I'd love to.

Question of the hour is....will you all be saying the following tomorrow?

OEAUX NEAUX.....TEBEAUX!!!!

I still have no idea who starts.

Either way, it's going to be a great game.

I hope he fails, too.

Oh, my...

Does Tiny Tim still have a wee bit of a headache?

Geaux Tigers!!!!!!

With all due respect, I hope Tim does recover fully... just next week.  I sure will be glad when he uses up his eligibility and gets drafted out of the SEC.  I also hope his talents translate well into the NFL... its time for another Montana.

If you cut me, I bleed purple and gold... but I think LSU is going to have their hands full Saturday... headache or no.

SORRY BLONDE...

I would'nt bet on that. As bad as the Rams are, & they suck bigtime, I don't believe that the best college teams could really do much against an NFL team. Even the bad ones. Good college players wash out in the pros, & they are pros for a reason.

As for your tilt with LSU, good luck. The Gators will need it.

Agreed

Granted the Rams are really bad right now, no matter how bad an NFL team is, they are professionals and would run circles around the best college teams.  The difference is the speed in the secondary and the strength/brutality on the lines.

As for the big game Saturday night, anything is possible.

They are not

Worthless, you will just have to trust me hear. A good GM, no nonesense coach, every winner has them!

I would love to know why

I would love to know why Obiewhine changed his tune? Maybe he got a call from the NFL Commisioner and reminded the deluded one that he could become persona non-gratis if he kills this potential sale? Maybe he got a call from NBC Sports that he should lay low on this as NBC wants to retain NFL Broadcasts rights. I don't know, but I would be curious to find out.

With Oberman's vitriolic record...

I find it hard to believe that there isn't something odd about his 'about face'.

Sorry, but I cant just take him at his word.

I suggest that whether Rush

I suggest that whether Rush buys the Rams or doesn't, will be entirely up to two parties, himself and the seller.

No amount of "left" whining, whinging and tantrum pulling will make a difference either way. Especially from Olberwomman.

BUT if he does the deal, against the left's screams, then they will have a chicken farms worth of egg on their faces as they expose their irrelevancy yet again.

Hence Olberwomann's about face.

Chicago's 2016 Olympic Games bid... one more example of Obama's SMART diplomacy.

Theory

This perpetuates my theory that Rush and Olbermann are secret man-friends and often go blowing with each other on Tuesdays.

someloudthunder

Rush & KO go.... blowing? with each other on Tuesdays?

And I was about to try and sleep. :p

Were Limbaugh to buy in

There would likely be some sort of clause that only lifelong sports broadcasters do the show, that that Olberdork be nowhere near a microphone or camera for anything Rams.

If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you can read it in English, You're welcome - Deskpilot, AM(H)1 (AW), USN (Ret)

Olbermans groveling

Limbaugh has more money than God and will soon be an owner in the NFL. As such, he will have input into the announcers that the NFL sanctions for coverage of the sport. Olberman knows his ratings are sheit and will be cancelled soon. So he will be forced to fall back on what he did to get started, football coverage. He STILL has his repulsive face on NBC coverage on the weekends. This illustrates the cowardice and veniality of this "man". It will be so delicious to see Olberman kissing Rush's butt, groveling for a living. The irony is just to great!

Maybe if you had millions

Maybe if you had millions of listeners you could afford to buy a football team too, Keith! Don't be jealous.
