In case you missed it, conservative talker Rush Limbaugh will be expanding his resume - long-time political commentator, potential NFL owner and now Miss America pageant judge.

On the Oct. 8 broadcast of Fox News "On the Record," host Greta Van Sustren revealed that Limbaugh would be one of the national judges for the 2010 Miss America Pageant, scheduled to be held in Las Vegas on Jan. 30, 2010.

"Rush Limbaugh, he's the King of talk radio," Van Sustren said. "He's trying to buy the St. Louis Rams. Well chalk up one more thing - Miss America judge. You heard that right - Rush Limbaugh has been named one of the national judges for the 2010 Miss America pageant. Limbaugh will be one of seven judges for the competition. Now that pageant is in Las Vegas now. It's coming this January at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino."

Van Sustren, a Miss America judge veteran and a part-owner in a NFL, pointed out her similarities to Limbaugh with the news involving the talk show host.

"Two odd coincidences - I was a judge at the 2003 Miss America Pageant, that was one odd coincidence," Van Sustren said. "And I am part-owner - one share of the Green Bay Packers. Of course, my share only cost $200, so Rush is clearly a bigger shot than I am."

But there's also a relevant media angle involved. Earlier this year, blogger Perez Hilton was a judge at the Miss USA Pageant. Hilton, whose real name is Mario Armando Lavandeira, asked a contestant, Miss California Carrie Prejean, what her stance on gay marriage was. Prejean answered, not trading her convictions for a pageant title and wound-up being the runner-up in the contest as a result.

Besides the likely criticism about Limbaugh being a judge, having conservative views that offend liberal sensibilities, will the media hold Limbaugh to the same standard that Hilton was held to with his antics? Or, in other words, would Limbaugh be given a pass like Hilton by the media should he ask a loaded-conservative question and be allowed to penalize a contestant if the answer doesn't conform to his views - just as Hilton did to Prejean in April?

Method to his madness

I don't backseat drive or day after judge El-Rushbo.  I suspect he's planning to ask the same exact question that cretin Perez Hilton did.  If that rat has been asked back, Rush will put him in his place, and ratboy will do the loudest whining before the show.

If Rush could get

just a quarter of his audience to tune in, it would be  the largest Miss America pageant since????

Don't tell me it wasn't a business decision. Miss America organizers have been looking for a way to get viewers to tune in for years. They may have struck gold with this move.

If Ruch holds to his commitment to this, which I predict he will, people will tune in waiting for the fireworks, but instead, they will get a fair judge, one who accepts his responsibility seriously, and will do nothing to defame any contestant.

Count me in as a viewer. I want to watch the post show fireworks too, as he is likely to inflame many on the left by doing the right thing, and keeping things cordial. buy stock in duct take. They're going to be buying lots of it.

It will be interesting to see how many, or which sponsors climb on board, as well as jump ship from this show.

Finally a Real Judge

I like Greta and I also like how she drew the Rush story into her life, especially the ownership of the Packers. I just would like to know if Rush invested in the Miss America Pagent? I think with his input they may actually make some money.

I still won't watch, but when they have the smartest person in the US pagent I will be there. That is the pagent that I think really matters and should be the model for the future.

If you think medical care is expensive now wait until it is free!

EL-RUSHBO...

How refreshing it will be to see a man who likes women to help judge a beauty contest. I also think Rush should ask something about freedom or America's greatness. It would be better then what we have seen over the years.

Judge Rushbo

An odd pick for the panel.  However, I hope and expect that he would be a fair judge.  I would not be appreciative if he politicized the competition along with how the left has.  His balance should be to ask question not on conservative ideology, but rather to focus on American excellence and where we may need to work.  I thought part of the idea of the competition was to show American women as being intelligent, accomplished, and downright beautiful.  It'd be nice to have such a deviation from the norm on the judge panel, but I'd be just as bothered to have conservative ideology be pressed by one of the judges as I am of liberal ideology.

odd pick??

as compared to a male homosexual?

That would be like inviting PETA to judge steak.

His balance should be to

What's the difference?

I haven't watched a pagaent

I haven't watched a pagaent since I was a child, but I have no real philosophical objection to them. If the judgement was on only attractiveness, then I would be against them, but they really do look for what society sees as well-rounded women. The contestants need to be marginally attractive, have a modicum talent and some intelligence, plus a relatively clean and wholesome personal background.

Unfortunately, these rather weak standards are much higher than the majority of young women seem to have these days. So, I would much rather see teenage girls striving to be like a Miss America role model, than the ignorant sluts that they seem to be fixated on now.

An actual heterosexual male

An actual heterosexual male as a judge at a beauty contest?  I am surprised NOW or the old Andrea Dworkinites are not picketing.

You are a genius!

Wow.  Just Wow.

Using such clever attacking language that we've NEVER EVER EVER seen here before about Rush Limbaugh.

I'm convinced.

I hope he fails, too.

That's one convert who NOW see's the light!   Great write Blonde.

Yeah, it was a trick post

The only winning answer, for you, little troll....was to not respond.

Too bad, so sad.  You may go now.

I hope he fails, too.

Quick to judge Rush

Do you know the causes for his divorce?  Maybe it was the wives'  fault?  Quick to blame him with no facts...

I think its madatory

I think it has become mandatory that the pageant has a homosexual judge every year.

Judge Rush

Rush will ask controversial questions.

The difference is he will not penalize the contestant for an answer he does not agree with.  That's something Perez can't comprehend.
