More Name Calling – Lib Columnist Sirota Calls Obama School Address Opponents 'A Bunch of Psychopaths'

If you don't see eye-to-eye on an issue with your ideological counterparts - rather than debate the issue, you can go on national TV and call them derogatory names like liberal talking head David Sirota has done.

Earlier on CNN's Sept. 7 "American Morning", as NewsBusters' Noel Sheppard pointed out, Sirota called Fox News host Glenn Beck a "right-wing political terrorist" and added that Van Jones was "a national hero." But this time he set his sights on Florida Republican chairman Jim Greer and "people like Jim Greer" who were concerned about President Barack Obama speaking to school children in a highly politicized environment.

"My take is simple," Sirota said on CNN's Sept. 7 "Campbell Brown". "The Orlando Sentinel wrote about what Jim Greer put out there. Jim Greer put out his criticism of Obama's socialist indoctrination plan before any of these lesson plans came out."

And Sirota declared this would be a victory for his side, as parents would realize that those skeptical of the president speech were "a bunch of psychopaths."

"What the effect of this is going to be is - it may have been a short-term controversy that helped Republicans, but what is going to happen is all the parents who tuned into this speech because of the hysteria by people like Jim Greer, are going to read this speech and realize that the Jim Greer's of the world - that the right-wing Republican base are a bunch of psychopaths to try and make this into a giant controversy about socialist indoctrination."

But according to Greer, Sirota was "a little confused" on the timeline and how his public response played out, since he relied solely on the reporting of the Orlando Sentinel writer's take on Greer's disposition.

"I had not even raised this issue until a principal sent us the lesson plan and said you need to see what these things include," Greer explained. "And after looking at the lesson plans, where the teachers were told to talk about the president's - what can we do to help him before the speech and after, that's when the issue is raised."

Greer added that it wasn't being a "psychopath" for parents to take issue with the possibility the president might try to use a school address as a political platform.

"When you talk about psychopath, it is strictly an issue of parental control and parents being involved in what their children listen and see in schools," Greer said. "That's not a psychopath."

David Sirota is a psychopath.

Um, no

We are not PsychoPaths!

If we were, we would join the Democratic Party and SEIU.

Just wondering...

Just wondering if this same label applies to those that opposed the same kind of speech that was given by a Repub president without a worshipxxx, I mean lesson plan?

I thought Sirota's point

I thought Sirota's point about "sticks and stones won't break my bones" was especially forthright, followed closely by his closing argument of "nanny nanny boo-boo." It's hard to argue with that.

Tell this psychopath Sirota

Tell this psychopath Sirota this is how we really feel:

My objections to the speech

For anyone who cares... Disissing the lesson plan and all the hoopla there...

He lies or slips or.. wait this is a PREPARED speech so context and present and past participles should be accurate concise even. Soo why does he say his mother was too poor to send him to the school that the american kids went too and not.. my mother was too poor to send me to the school that the oether american kids went to. One puts him in the same category the other he is an outsider. Seems petty to a liberal but not to me.

Second, he keeps repeating the mantra of what are you going to do for your country. This would be fine if he was a militairy recruiter but he is speaking to 5-12 year olds (yes older kids too but this is the area I object to the most.)

third is he playing grandpa with the wash your hands? come on that is incredibly corny... or is it? He is a cool dad he talked about having kids eat there vegetables the other day. And before you ask Yes I am paranoid.

the speech

after an entire week to sanitize it, if it was anything but utter pablum I would be shocked.

It was the Kim Jong Il

It was the Kim Jong Il touches of "Look at what an inspiration I, your Dear Leader, am!" that creeped me out. That and the fact that he seemed to be speaking from the assumption that the kids were all mind-numbed xBox addicted sofa spuds with insipid teachers and lackadaisical parents. Not a word about "Many of you are probably excited to be back at school..." For me, and my friends, and my kids and their friends, back to school was exciting.

And a lot of those kids he's accusing of wanting to still be in bed are farm kids who are up before dawn milking cows all freaking year. Didn't Dear Leader have a job as a teenager?

Yeah, his several

Yeah, his several references to himself seem grossly out of place. It makes it seem more about him than about the students. And sorta self-pitying. Reminds me of the "I had to walk 20 miles to school, and it was uphill both ways" type of stories.

In fact, I agree with pretty much all your points. The whole thing seems targeted at lackadaisical, inner-city "problem" students. Not really very "inclusive" at all. Although I'm sure some will argue it was aimed at those very "problem" students on purpose, as they need the motivation more.

But... that's not what it's being sold as.

<edit: I forgot about the "freer and fairer America" he refers to. What's not fair or free about the America we already have? And fighting "discrimination" and "protecting the environment?" Seems to presume we're a bunch of polluting bigots. CTTOI, aren't these more properly political questions?>

Wow...

That's one angry leftie.

" if Republicans are able to stop Barack Obama on health care, 'it will be his Waterloo, it will break him....-Sen. Jim DeMint

This is nothing new.

It's the standard demonization of opponents by the left.

They never say their opponents are just wrong.  They are always wrong and stupid/crazy/evil.  Any combination thereof.

These are the same liberals

These are the same liberals that won't even let the U.S. Army, Navy, AF or Marines recruit near schools.  Obama is perhaps the biggest threat to our American way of life and he needs to be working on solutions for the economy, not indoctrinating school children that can't even vote and would be better off studying math or playing in the sand box.

David Sirota

David Sirota is on a roll today.  What's striking is that he sounds very angry today.  What does he have to be angry about?  The dems have all the power but they are losing control.  That's not a good combination in politics.

Uh Huh

Calling those that oppose the obvious and intentional, but deftly denied, Socialiam being rammed down their throats in every aspect of their lives "a bunch of psychopaths," can only HELP the Obama Administration...

...continue to lose favor with the American public.

Keep talking loony libs - keep talking!

so I am a psychopath today?

when are they coming for my children?

They already have

if they go to a public school. Didn't you know once you drop them off you relinquish your rights? I work for one of my local school districts they are broadcasting live and the official policy is its up to the teacher to decide if they will air it in the classroom. To counter this another local district not only is NOT airing it but has issued letters to all the teachers stating they are forbidden from showing the speech. Clearly I work for the wrong district.

Can—you—imagine—a—RepublIcan—president

Giving a speech to school children nationwide during school hours?  Really?  Imagine the blast of complaints you'd get from ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, et al?  The press and liberals would label a conservative like that as "brainwashing children" and "filling their minds with (fill in the blank)".

I hope kids across this nation yawn with boredom and fidget in their seats while this hot air bag for a president speaks.

My kids won't see

My kids won't see it.

I called the school last week and they told me it is not being shown.  And if it was I was going to be shown I would have had my kids opted out.  And if the school didn't have that option, my kids were going to be taken out of school for the hour.

It wouldn't be bad if he

It wouldn't be bad if he stuck with the study hard, overcome adversity, discover your gifts, etc. speech. It's the Dear Leader is Such an Inspiration to You All aspects, along with his assumption that without his many eloquent speeches the teachers would be smoking in the lounge and the parents would chain the kids to the sofa and go on a drug run.

An inspirational address by the POTUS is an improvement on the "Chicken Fat" song we got thanks to JFK:

http://www.boyscoutfun.org/chicken_fat.htm

wouldn't happen

Liberal teachers would opt out.  It would go out to CSPAN and see perhaps a few conservative districts' classrooms but mostly be packed in the dust with the rest.

Suddenly, states rights would be important.   Teachers would assert their ability to control their cirriculum locally.  Parents would have the ability to opt out and be notified ahead of time of the complete content of the speech by districts (no public outcry necessary)

This would be a non event because it would never happen.

Psychopath

If I were a Psychopath, I might believe:

1. The U.S. government planned, or at the very least enabled the attacks of 9-11 to occur.

2. We ought to give all of our wealth to the American Indians. Give it all to them. Give it all to them.

3. White people are poisoning black people via the environment.

4. There have been a grand sum of zero reasons to be proud of my country during my adult life UNTIL the nomination of Barack Obama.

5. Despite Valerie Jarrett's intro to a Van Jones speech in which she states that the Obama administration had followed Jones's career since the mid-1990's and they in fact recruited Van Jones as a result -- despite that, Barack Obama had no idea Van Jones was the slightest bit controversial.

6. Jeremiah Wright is just one of those "Crazy Uncle" type of Reverands. Nothing to see there...

7. Bill Ayers was a bad man long before I was even in my teens, so it's okay to associate with him now. And the fact that his Weather Underground co-founder helped with the Stimulus Package, well, that's just a coincidence.

Now THAT would be Psycho!

In re #5: That would be the

In re #5: That would be the equivalent of sitting in the same church for 20 years and having no idea what the preacher had been saying.

Now, THAT'S crazy!

→ So be it

If Donna Brazile, Jeremiah Wright,  and David Soetero, or Siroto, or whatever his name is, wish to take the side of the truthers and those who think the US had 9-11 coming,  so be it.

In order to provide cover for their worshipful master, they gladly, almost whimsically declare with Van Jones that we were asking for it when a bunch of Jihadists took out the Towers.

This post, and these lips dare not express how lowly I regard their hatred of my Country.

Snivelling, craven, piglets.  All of them.

Now, Now, Cool.  Look at

Now, Now, Cool.

Look at the bright side.  Rush Limbaugh's declaration that the MSM has met its Waterloo and it is Obama becomes reality with each spike, with each circling of the wagons and with each Dem puff piece.  Mainstream America is now sick of the MSM.

Let Donna Brazile defend Jones.   It will take them both out with one shot.

And while you are at it, I discovered a terrific beer I haven't had before.  Comes from a tiny brewery northeast of Munich.  Veldensteiner.  Their Pils is terrific.

Or a BBK Pils.

Keep your liberal agenda...

We don't want this liberal agenda, subliminal suggestions for our children. Keep your liberal agenda! These are the same people who want the bible reading in school, the next thing will be the reading of the koran. Our children don't need these types of brainwashing!

so kengie

Show proof of anyone on NB who said they want the Bible read in school. Now.

You can't shout me down here..

Don't deny it..you liberals want to push your agenda on us, you want us all read your Koran or you bible. You are not Boss Limbaugh  so I don't have to show YOU proof..now or later.

us liberals?

kengie are you working from the wrong script?

It is far better to be a psychopath, than to let the children listen to a psychopath. Isn't that how Charlie Manson got started?

Partisan Speech

My kids won't be seeing this speech.  Our school sent home an opt-out form which we promptly signed and returned.

Last night I read the speech and was surprised to find it more partisan than I thought it might be.  I was mostly opting out on the idea that Obambi was doing this for politcal gain.  What's more, the liberal media (and even Fox News) are out there today painting it as a nonpartisan speech.

I don’t agree that the speech is straightforward and has a
nonpartisan message. In sections the speech is outright partisan, and
the whole speech is a political stunt by Obambi, making the whole
affair partisan.

In particular, this section of the speech is trash:

“You’ll need the knowledge and problem-solving skills you learn in
science and math to cure diseases like cancer and AIDS, and to develop
new energy technologies and protect our environment. You’ll need the
insights and critical thinking skills you gain in history and social
studies to fight poverty and homelessness, crime and discrimination,
and make our nation more fair and more free.”

Umm, yeah. AIDS is not on the list of the 15 leading causes of death in the United States (http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nvsr/nvsr57/nvsr57_14.pdf).
AIDS is a serious disease and one that certainly needs research, but
the issues surrounding it are controversial and have been highly
politicized and AIDS was chosen here for that reason. No mention of
heart disease, stroke, diabetes, liver disease, or influenza, all of
which cause more death in the United States than HIV and are
“straightforward” enemies of humankind.

He talks about protecting the environment. Liberals like Obambi are
all “do what I say, not what I do” on this issue and really are using
their environmental agenda to strip away freedom. It is dangerous and I
don’t want these people planting in my children’s minds that the
environment is in some kind of catastrophic trouble. That’s a tool of
the left.

I don’t believe discrimination is a big problem in the United
States. To insinuate that it is a slap at his fellow Americans. Poverty
and homelessness are tragic and we (not the government) must aid these
people, but these problems will mostly be eradicated through
individuals making changes in their lives, not through magical social
studies.

Finally “the more fair and more free” clause takes the cake. Our
county is (or at least was) the most fair and freest country that ever
existed in the course of human history. The United States pretty much
founded fair and free. But, you see, these are code words for the
Marxist belief that we need more redistribution of wealth and more
government control in order to be “fair and free.”

Don’t tell me his speech is nonpartisan.

You know how I know the Commies are lying about the true nature of Conservatives?

Simply because idiots like this guy are still in one piece.  That speaks volumes for how much folks are willing to put up with without snapping.

Of course, they aren't going to be found in places where "middle Americans" abound, or if they do venture into the woods, they have good security...and lots of it.

This constant blanket goading is obviously an attempt to get some hot heads to do something.
