Brazile Defends Jones: 'If You Made a Controversial Statement and You're Liberal, You're Labeled as a Radical and That's Wrong'

The evidence is in on Van Jones. He's and admitted communist, signed a petition supporting 9/11 conspiracy theories and has called Republicans a series of vulgar names, and according to Democratic strategist Donna Brazile - there's nothing wrong with that.

Brazile, a CNN regular, appeared on CNN's Sept. 7 "The Situation Room," and reacted to Jones' Sept. 5 late-night resignation.

"Let me just say that Van Jones is a very, very intelligent man," Brazile said. "A Yale graduate, someone who came up from the public schools of Jackson, Tenn. to make something of himself. People have a deep and abiding respect for his expertise for on the environment."

In her defense of Jones, she also added the Obama administration's decision to use "so-called czars" was necessary to help the American economy, due to their "special expertise."

"And let me just say something about the so-called czars," Brazile added. "I don't know if it's 15 or 30. I don't care if it's five. President Obama is assembling the best and brightest to help transform our economy to ensure that we can adapt to the new conditions that face us each and every day. These are people with special expertise."

And Brazile had no qualms with any of the controversial statements Jones. She said there was nothing wrong with making controversial statements if you're liberal and the "radical" label was not justified.

"I don't know the vetting process at the White House," Brazile continued. "All I know is if you made a controversial statement and you're liberal - you're labeled as a radical and that's wrong. Let me just say to conservatives there's nothing wrong with liberals."

I'm not depressed, I'm stoked. Went to a Tea Party Express venue today in New Lenox,Il. and the turnout for this rally was magnificent. Of course, ABC,NBC nor CBS were there, and there were no news helicopters overhead trying to see how many were in the crowd. Doesn't matter, Americans were there with their signs and flags and we are far from being defeated by this Administration. Go America, fight this with all your might. I was Just.... Jones read it and agreed with the statement. Beck (as I remember) reported that the distributors of that document said that they contacted every single signer--post signing-- to verify that they were indeed the signer and that they agreed with the statement.

This leads to a story. I had a woman canvassing for a local politician and I did not recognize him. I asked the woman what the politician stood ofr and she had a blank lookon her face and said I dont know. I asked her what she stood for and she did not answer coherently. I then asked her why she is voting for him and she said he was a democrat. I smiled and said that is exactly why I will not vote for him. Local Democrats grow up sometimes to be national Democrats. Remember this all played out with Beck pointing out the problems with Jones. Then, a group Jones founded, goes out and tries to pressure sponsors of Beck's show to pull their sponsorship, all supposedly because Beck accused the one of being racist. So, according to Ms. Brazile, you should be able to make a "controversial" statement and not be put upon.

If he resigned then, obviously his actions were viewed as unacceptable; but only because they came to light. Is Ms. Brazile suggesting that the President made a poor decision by not supporting Mr. Jones and putting the power of the presidency behind him? If that's the case then let the President come out and say he knew everything and didn't have a problem with it, then we can judge him on what he said. As with Reverend Wright, he's hiding behind the "I didn't know" excuse, well I don't believe he didn't know about Wright and I doubt he didn't know about Jones. I'm sure there is a fraternity, among community organizers, where they know each other and what they espouse. I'm sure Van Jone's reputation proceeded him into the White House and, after the back slapping and congratulations about how he could get those a**hole Republicans all fired up, they went about laying out his position to spend some tax money.

At least Donna Brazile didn't play the race card, for that I'll give her credit.

Someone should ask Brazile if she feels that Jones would have received confirmation in the Senate if his position had required it. There is not one Republican who would have voted for him, and there are enough Democrats who realize they would not be re-elected if they had voted on party lines and confirmed him.

So the only reason 0bama put him on staff as a "czar" is that he knew Jones couldn't get in any other way. If 0bama did things properly, Jones would not be in the administration now, so there is no net loss here.

my husband and I were talking about this very topic this afternoon...How much, exactly, are all these "czars" getting paid, and where is this money coming from? My guess is that every prez must have some type of "discretionary fund" that he can use to pay for "advisors" , or whatever else (obviously within reason of course) that he feels is necessary to help him, in some way, do his job.

You're exactly right about the taxpayers being able to see a complete listing of who's getting paid what,where that money is coming from, exactly what their job(s) will entail, and how much power they will have in their position(s). Don't hold your breath on seeing it anytime soon, however.

The fact that "O" named yet another one of his "czar" lackeys today, was not an accident. It is a clear attempt to send a message to those of us who objected to and ended up taking down Jones, and the message is "screw you". Obama is so arrogant it's breathtaking sometimes, and this is one of those times. Instead of refraining from naming any more "czars" for at least a while so the noise surrounding Jones can die down, he blatantly names yet another one. Geez, I loathe this guy.

I have news for Ms. Brazile...The reason that Jones has been labeled a radical is because he holds radical views, not just because he's a liberal. Not all liberals are radicals (just misguided and truth-challenged). The fact is that Jones signed a 9/11 "truther" petition, and I think that any reasonable person would agree that anyone who thinks 9/11 was an inside job that was either put together or allowed to happen by President Bush, is a card-carrying, nutjob radical, no matter what Ms. Brazile says or thinks. A couple of points . . .

1. For better or worse, Obama's special economic expertise comes from Goldman-Sachs alumni like the notorious Robert Rubin, fomer Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, the Fed Chairman, and former NY Fed Director and current Treasury Secretary Geithner.

Additionally, he has all the expertise and information of the Departments of the Treasury and Commerce an a team of economists at his disposal.

2. Jones is a self-avowed Communist. Any economic advice this radical has to offer can be found in the Dustheap of History. the Marxist/socialist economic model has born nothing but death, poverty, and despair.

To be sure, Jones is not gone. The President is free to solicit his advice as he choose. But at least we -- the American taxpayers -- won't be subsidizing our destruction through his salary.

A word of advise to Donna. When you're trying to defend the brain trust of a President you support is it wise not to describe them with the phrase "the best and brightest."

ps Since most liberals are unaware of history pre-2001 the phrase was first used to describe the LBJ brain trust, especially McNamara and Rusk, who mucked up the Vietnam War.
