Guess who's not pleased about Van Jones middle-of-the-night-on-a-holiday-weekend resignation? Perhaps you never would have seen this one coming, but no other MSNBC "Countdown" host and provocateur Keith Olbermann himself.
Bitter and seeing red? Perhaps. In a post on the Daily Kos dated Sept. 6, Olbermann urged the half-crazed liberal Kos readers to go digging for dirt on Fox News host Glenn Beck, Beck's radio producer Stu Burguiere and Fox News president Roger Ailes. (h/t Morgen of Verum Serum)
"I don't know why I've got this phrasing in my head, but: Find everything you can about Glenn Beck, Stu Burguiere, and Roger Ailes," Olbermann wrote. "No, even now, I refuse to go all caps. No, sending me links to the last two Countdowns with my own de-constructions of his biblical vision quality Communist/Fascist/Socialist/Zimbalist art at Rockefeller Center (where, curiously, he works, Comrade) doesn't count. Nor does sending me links to specious inappropriate point-underscoring prove-you're-innocent made-up rumors."
Olbermann said he plans to put forth his formal plans to go after Beck on his Sept. 8 show.
"Tuesday we will expand this to the television audience and have a dedicated email address to accept leads, tips, contacts, on Beck, his radio producer Burguiere, and the chief of his tv enablers, Ailes (even though Ailes' power was desperately undercut when he failed to pull off his phony ‘truce' push)," Olbermann wrote.
It's not clear what Olbermann's goal is here, but it does appear he's some how trying to employ the thirteenth rule from the tactics chapter from Saul Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals" - "Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it."
Olbermann dedicated segments last week during two shows going after Beck's analysis of the art in NBC headquarters Rockefeller Center, in New York City.

September 6, 2009 - 14:47 ET by pbthinkerThis is really going to be fun since Olbermann certainly isn't a journalist and will put stuff out that is so easy to disprove that he'll look more like a fool than normal.
The irony is that Beck admits he was a alcoholic so there's a good possibility there are stories out there. The irony is they're probably old and don't approach the 9/11 truther stuff.
Personally, I hope that Beck TIVO's the shows, get's all of this hate on records, then takes a show or two to tear it apart. It should be really easy to do.
In fact, I hope Glenn Beck does some shows next week about how the MSM avoided this whole episode and, not until Van Jones quit, did they even inform their readers.
Election 2008-God's way of showing us that elections count.
PBTHINKER...
September 6, 2009 - 17:27 ET by danybhoyThe biggest problem that BathTubBoy has is that Beck has admitted most of his pastfailing on the air. He has talked about about his bad old days as a drunk, talked about how using coke ruined his life, & about what an absolute dirtbag he was. It's out there, so Olby's plee/demand/order to dig up dirt of someone like Beck who already has done so will be fruitless.
The other thing that is great about this story is that this story started when Van Jones own group "Color Of Change" went after Beck & his sponsers. Beck speaheaded the expose' of Van Jones. Beck buried his with his own words, video/audio clip after clip. Here is what pisses BathTubBoy off is that Glenn Beck, from FoxNews, knocked off an Obama czar. Beck does'nt matter according to Olby, but he more or less forced out Obama's Commie Green jobs czar. How impodent does that make BathTubBoy look?
So if you are scoring at home...Beck-1, Obly-0...

JUST A THOUGHT...
September 6, 2009 - 20:43 ET by danybhoySince we, the taxpayers of America have bailed out GE to the tune of $138billion, could they be subject to an audit? Would it be possible to look into who made what at GE/NBC/NBCnews/CNBC/MSNBC? When GM took bailout money, they were forced to streamline their operation. They are killing off the Pontiac name, sold Hummer & Saturn, & even end their sponsership of Tiger Woods(Buick on his bag).
GE should be forced to pay back the money with interest or streamline their operation. They should get rid of nonperforming divisions, & I don't see how MSNBC could make a profit. They pay too much for on air "talent", & do too poorly in the rating to make money. I would insist on using a clawback type of system in terms of trying to get back some of our taxpayer funded excesses that have been paid out to a clearly underperforming & corrupt "news" operation.
My advice to ANYONE in buisiness who takes any gov't money is simple...When you deal with the devil, you are always the junior partner.

September 6, 2009 - 15:14 ET by Gary HallOn one of the national Sunday morning news talk shows this morning (?? which one? Oh - I think that there was yet another LA Times on page A-2 piece by leftie columnist Steve Lopez, making fun of only one side of the isle, which attempted to paint this same picture. (I note that Lopez mentions Olbermann, in order to cover his butt for the obvious bias charge - but he and the LA Times journalists and columnists are going to continue to devote one article and one column after another attacking a few on the right - and have not and will not expend any curiosity in actually looking at the left wing media insanity).
But here we have Mr. Quack, Keith Olbermann, going public and begging the nutcases at the nutcase blogosphere site, KailyKos, to send him anything they have, or can find.
And of course, as he has always done, we can expect that any and all of this information he comes by, will be fit, by NBC standards, to be a part of the news.

September 6, 2009 - 15:28 ET by GregEBeck didn't really "take down" anyone. He lets America see who Van Jones is, which is something all media should be doing. Amazing that basically ONE voice on TV does that? That's asinine! Why not all media? (yea I know the answer, but I'm speaking of how it SHOULD be).
Van Jones took himself down. Period. He has no business in a non-elected position in the federal government. IF he was elected, then the citizens would have done that. Even with his mindset, if he was elected it's different. I still wouldn't want him running anything related to the federal government, but voters would have been those that spoke on it. In this case though, no one spoke except the Obama and whoever advised him that Jones would be a good fit for the green jobs dictator. Jones took himself down. September 7, 2009 - 06:27 ET by danybhoyI don't think Beck will mention BathTubBoy by name too often, & should take the John Gibson approach & call him BathTubBoy. Beck & O'Reilly make a damn powerful tag-team of sorts, & they both know what they are doing in going up against Obama/GE/Olby.
There is a difference in the approach Beck/O'Reilly take compaired to Olby. In retail terms, Olby bitches at the poor clerk on the floor or at the service desk, while Beck/O'Reilly go after the person who can fire the clerk. Which approach sounds more effective?

September 6, 2009 - 15:32 ET by FeynmanFanI'd be a little surprised if Beck stooped to KO's level and went after him personally. My guess is that he'll just ignore most of it and only report on the accuracy of something that KO says. Given the fighting that's been going on between KO and O'Reilly, it seems more likely that O'Reilly would make him the perennial "pinhead" and talk about whatever stupid thing KO said that day.

Dead On
September 6, 2009 - 19:42 ET by TeamcheeserCenturian,
You are dead on! Van Jones resigned before the conversation in the mainstream media turned to those things Glenn Beck was talking about. He resigned because of the 9-11 Truther thing, mainly, which Beck talked about right at the very end. For weeks, though, Glenn was playing video of Jones that would've burned any Republican if it was shown on MSNBC just once -- in a grainy video that made it hard to even verify the identity of the speaker. Kind of like Rather's Bush memos.
Now that Van Jones is gone, they never have to report the really bad stuff.
I was reading the huffpo
September 6, 2009 - 16:13 ET by equusartsI was reading the huffpo comments on Jones resignation for some Sunday entertainment and entertaining it was. You wouldn't believe how so many have their "panties in a knot" because Beck dared to actually tell the truth about one of their own on national television.
Huffpo monitors their comments big time and won't print anything they find "offensive" (which means nearly any post by a conservative-free speech doesn't exist in their world) yet there were countless threats to Beck and horrid language, shouts of racism etc. It's ridiculous. I never use foul language or threats etc. yet Huffpo printed about 1 out of 5 of my posts. (I was doing an experiment to see how bias they were-oh boy did I learn!) But they are fine printing threatening comments towards a tv commentator who is conservative?
Compare that to conservative sites such as Newsbusters who print comments from everyone. Thank God we here still believe EVERYONE has the right to voice an opinion! We need to fight for that right because if they get their way, it won't be for long!

Olbermann decides to attack Beck, a paid TV pundit.
No wonder msnbc is in the toilet.
Does MSNBC really want to go there?
September 6, 2009 - 18:29 ET by ThisnThatSara, it was certainly obvious that Beck had the goods on van jones and others when he challenged the White House to refute any of his findings -- and reported, day after day, that the WH remained silent. Didn't respond. Beck's information was extremely damaging, and still the WH didn't respond, and finally van jones was completely exposed.
Beck still has the goods on a lot of other people. Watch them begin to fall, also.
And, Beck has stated that he is concerned for his safety because he expected the personal attacks to begin at any time. Obermann is proof of this. Obermann is so crazy that he publically announces "he wants dirt". Is this where MSNBC wants to go? It'll be interesting to see....

Reggie then turned to his mother and tore up the note with a snarl.
I suggest we all send photoshops of Beck rescuing kittens from trees, helping grandmas across the street, etc.

September 6, 2009 - 19:54 ET by TeamcheeserHe went after Hannity the other day too. First time I've seen him do that.
I've noticed some on air friction between Hannity and Beck. The other week, Hannity was listing the group of conservative books on the market that were at the top of the NY Times best sellers list. Beck's book was right at the top, but Hannity never mentioned it. He mentioned Levin's, Malkin's, Morris's, but not Beck's. Hannity didn't just overlook Beck's book once. He mentioned this list about five times over two days and each time he left Beck's name off the list.
And then I heard Mark Levin bad-mouthing Beck on his radio show. Levin and Hannity are very close, of course. It got me wondering...

September 6, 2009 - 20:23 ET by TeamcheeserBT -
More than anything else, I noticed Levin making fun of Beck. Heck, at the end of last week it sounded like Mark Levin was minimalizing what Beck was doing with Van Jones. And maybe Mark had a point --- that getting Jones out was not the main objective (He went on to say that the key is to get conservatives to vote for conservatives in the primaries -- THAT'S the main objective -- which I strongly agree with), but the way in which Levin made his point sounded a little bit harsh on Beck.
And then I remembered how Hannity left Beck's name off the list of conservative authors a few times (at the time I remarked that it sounded like it was on purpose -- HAD TO BE -- Glenn Beck's book had been #1 for way too long...)
I figured that Beck's book knocked Levin's book out of the #1 slot or something and moved on.
Until tonight.
THE GREAT ONE...
September 6, 2009 - 21:20 ET by danybhoyI like both Levin & Beck, both have great radio gigs, & I like their books. But Mark does'nt always play nice with others. Sometimes that is funny, sometimes that bothers me. That said, I would'nt try to tome him down, because he would lose his edge. Guys like him tone it down, & they are nothing. They need that sort of "on the edge" attitude to be great at what they do.
As for Hannity, he is part of a click, so to speak. It includes Hannity, El-Rushbo, Levin, Bortz, & Cunningham(who is on right now). Beck is not in this particular pack, HOWEVER...he does seem to get along with Rush, & has had him on his show(tv & radio) a few times. Plus Beck has said he gets along fine with Hannity, so who really knows?

Olbie's problem with Beck is that the Obama Administration needs Jeff Immelt to do the job he's being bribed, er paid, er I mean called to do.
That job is to silence Beck. Jeffrey, if you can't get this done, I swear I'll open up a new coal-fired plant and your wind turbans can rot.

and Wala, magically your ratings will go up and then MSNBC will see their ratings during your show go up, the Advertisers will see their profits go up in sales of products advertised during your show and we all have a win win situation.

I've read Olbermann's post
September 6, 2009 - 21:14 ET by marvlI've read Olbermann's post about 4 times now, and I still don't know what it means. They apparently didn't teach the King's English at the agricultural college he attended.
I also suspect while in college he did a lot of pesticides. This would go far toward explaining his personality defects and impaired mental faculties.

September 6, 2009 - 22:28 ET by candanceJust for kicks, I followed that link to DKos and read some of the comments. Those people are so nuts! They're comparing it to the Dark Night of Fascism Under Joe McCarthy, and they're whining because the Democrats are apparently "rolling over" too much for Republicans.
As for the plan to destroy Glenn Beck, here is their ammo:
- he's a creepy Mormon.
- he probably has a mistress somewhere.
- he's racist.
- he wants to kill Pelosi.
Oh, and incidentally, never again will I engage a lefty. They are lost causes. Reading that site, I felt like I was watching the crazy wife in Jane Eyre.

September 6, 2009 - 23:26 ET by seanrobinsOkay...here I go...hope this help, Olbie-wan-gadopie!
I have, after all, listen to Glenn Beck for lo these past 40-something years...
One: Glenn Beck (is a radio talk show host)...
Two: GB, I have heard (used to be a dope-head or something)... come to think of it, I may have heard that from him...
Three: Glenn, I think, now don't quote me 'cause I mave mis-heard (is a bit on the conservative side)...
And, four...and this may be the worst of all, but please find a second source for this one...Glenn Beck (is a Mormon!)...
I just felt that I had to reveal what I knew. I'm sorry Glenn, I really do apoligize, but I could not, in good conscience, hold this information back any longer.
I only hope 'n [change]. er, pray, that Olbie-wanko goes easy on you.

If NBC does not publically rein in this lunatic, and stop this obvious personal attack on someone, they should be held liable for any harm that may come to those Olbermann is trying to hurt.

Beck's next target should be Valerie Jarret
September 7, 2009 - 11:30 ET by PaulJameshttp://www.judicialwatch.org/news/2008/nov/obama-advisor-valerie-jarrett-linked-real-estate-scandals
The Tony Rezko Connection to the Chicago Thug White house
Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that it has obtained documents linking Valerie Jarrett, an advisor to Barack Obama and the co-chairman of the President-Elect's transition team, to a series of real estate scandals, including several housing projects operated by convicted felon and Obama fundraiser/friend Antoin "Tony" Rezko.
According to the documents obtained by Judicial Watch from the Illinois Secretary of State, Valerie Jarrett served as a board member for several organizations that provided funding and support for Chicago housing projects operated by real estate developers and Obama financial backers Rezko and Allison Davis. (Davis is also Obama's former boss.) Jarrett was a member of the Board of Directors for the Woodlawn Preservation and Investment Corporation along with several Davis and Rezko associates, as well as the Fund for Community Redevelopment and Revitalization, an organization that worked with Rezko and Davis.
(According to press reports, housing projects operated by Davis and Rezko have been substandard and beset with code violations. The Chicago Sun Times reported that one Rezko-managed housing project was "riddled with problems -- including squalid living conditions...lack of heat, squatters and drug dealers.")
As Chief Executive Officer of the Habitat Company Jarrett also managed a controversial housing project located in Obama's former state senate district called Grove Parc Plaza. According to the Boston Globe the housing complex was considered "uninhabitable by unfixed problems, such as collapsed roofs and fire damage...In 2006, federal inspectors graded the condition of the complex an 11 on a 100-point scale -- a score so bad the buildings now face demolition." Ms. Jarrett refused to comment to the Globe on the conditions of the complex.
"Like Barack Obama, Valerie Jarrett is a product of the corrupt Chicago political machine. And it is no stretch to say that she was a slumlord," said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. "We have real concerns about Jarrett's ethics. Washington already has plenty of corruption. We don't need to import more of it from Chicago."
Now is the time for all to come to the aid of their country and vote Republican.
Preaching to the choir...
September 7, 2009 - 15:43 ET by ThirteenburnI feel that due to the small audience who watch anything on MSNBC to begin with, makes this a case of "preaching to the choir", therefore, this story will have little impact. It's really a case of Olbermann being a 'champion of the obvious' and nothing renders a story more ineffective. Also keep in mind that if this we're really an honestly wrong situation and the outrage perpatrated from the left understandable, then why offer up the story to the media so late on the Friday before the three day holiday? Is that timeframe usually reserved for stories that one party or the other want's as little media attention drawn to as possible?
Exactly. So in reality, anything that Olbermann receives from those whack-jobs at Daily Kos is going to be what most of the uber-left already believe anyway, regardless Olbermann spewing forth his oral diarrhea.
