Beck on ObamaCare: A Plan Octomom Would Love

While President Barack Obama's health care plan is garnering plenty of media attention including two prominent spots on ABC, Fox News host Glenn Beck says the plan won't even help the poor get insurance.

Beck appeared on FNC's June 17 "Your World with Neil Cavuto" to promote his new book, "Glenn Beck's Common Sense: The Case Against an Out-of-Control Government, Inspired by Thomas Paine" and called into question the claim that Obama's health care proposals will actually assist the poor.

"Look, it doesn't even make sense," Beck said. "When you start to look at it, they're talking about savings, but their savings come from moving people from Medicaid over to universal health. We're also leaving, I think it's 33 or 39 million people off the roles. They - we're not even talking about people who are making less than $33,000."

Beck explained that this initiative by the Obama administration would help those with incomes in higher tax brackets, depending on their circumstances.

"But it's not the poor," Beck said. "We're not even doing the poor with this bill. The poor are covered elsewhere. This is just everyone from Octomom. She'd be covered. She could make $230,000 a year or $222,000 a year and still get coverage, Octomom can. Jon plus Kate, and plus eight or whatever that is - they can also get covered up to $222,000."

But, the Fox News host said the plan isn't about helping people, but dismantling the U.S. health care system and strengthening the power of the federal government.

"I mean, what is this?" Beck said. "I thought we were helping the poor. It's not helping the poor. This is - this is about destroying the health care system that we have right now."

continuing to prove us right

They are continuing to prove us right, that Obama just wants to make Gov't more powerful. Not really there to help anyone.

DTOM!!

Taxed Enough Already

A plan only an octo mom would love... that's a great headline...

CNN Monday night had some disturbing figures $$ about the BHO health care plan (CNN doesn't exactly pass as non biased or independent reporting anymore does it).  They posted that by 2018 we will have spent 1.4 TRILLION (not exact on the figure, give or take a couple HUNDRED BILLION) dollars and only cover an addl 30% of the total uninsured in this country.  So, the plan itself is flawed in perspective that they want to dismantle the health care system and replace it with an even more inefficient and ineffective, expensive bureacracy.  Wake up America... Up next, Nationalized Sperm counts.  Line up at your local banks.

LOL

LOL re: Nationalized Sperm Counts.

I bet they have a plan for that too.

Taxed Enough Already

And since the ultimate goal

And since the ultimate goal is to get everyone on government health care, the cost estimate isn't even close. If it's 1.4 trillion for 19 million, how much do you think it will cost for 300 million, not to mention those who pay with their lives?

Our government getting involved in

healthcare insurance simply will not work.  As bad as the private insurance industry is, the government getting involved can only lead to massive inefficiency and corruption, with untold cost overruns.  Whatever is bad, the government will make worse, but you all already know that.

Destroying our health care

Destroying our health care system indeed...this is terrifying what is going on with the govt./congress...and the Power O and his team have.

Beck is doing a great job on this again today now...and he had an excellent opening about Walpin and all of our freedoms /free speech and being destroyed if you speak out...he gave perfect examples too...and like he said...who is next?

Who is next indeed....it could be any one of us...or someone we know and love.

Beck is onto something here:

Beck is onto something here. He said:

This is - this is about destroying the health care system that we have right now.

Carefully now - it's more than that. It's even about destroying the social net that we have right now. How? Listen here to what President Obama said, last Saturday in Green Bay, WI, about the historically sacred twin sacred cows, Medicare and Medicaid:

The real problem is Medicaid and Medicare. That's the nightmare scenario.

..and then Obama went out to propose that $400 billion be slashed from the M's.

Why would they do that? Because they need the money right now, to fund what they are proposing to implement. They'll come back for that money, and more, later on.

Imagine the outrage if a Republican had trash-mouthed the M's, and had proposed slashing funding for the left's two most cherished social safety nets.

The really odd bit here, is that the loud left in Congress, John Conyers, Bernie Sanders, etc., are actually calling for, in the moment, huge expansions of Medicare and/or Medicaid to bring everyone else into these programs. In it's current form, this bill out of the Senate Health Committee is calling for full implementation of the plan in the 2013.

Let's suggest that every member of congress which supports this bill (or who votes for it) and each and every member of their families and their staffs, be forced to drop their current federal health plan and be allowed to enroll in Medicaid for the next 3-4 years.

I'd be curious to see what the ones who survive that long will have to say about proceeding with government health coverage. (;~/ gary

CORRECTION

"I think it's 33 or 39 million people off the roles."

The correct word here is rolls

Why won't ABC's John Stossel be at the White House?

Michelle Malkin has confirmed that John Stossel will not be taking part in the White House Obamacare Show!

I wonder why not!

I didn't think it was physically possible, but this both sucks and blows.  -Bart Simpson

Obamacare is similar to

Obamacare is similar to what I try to pull on my husband.  I can spend $100 and save $200 if what I buy is on sale.  O.k., I don't NEED a Coach purse, but hey if it's on sale...

People cannot be given healthcare without paying for it.  When this happens they will go all the time for every procedure.  Because my husband is self-insured I try to keep my family healthy and go to the doctor when we need to.  Nothing wrong with that, but when Medicare pays, people go all the time.  I know from my mom and mother-in-law.

2 reasons, and second one is not being talked about

the first reason is to get more people under government control.  This is talked about all the time.

I was thinking why would one group WANT to do that.  If you follow the money, you will notice times where they pepper in comments about how MUCH doctors make.  You know those drs. that have 8 plus years of schooling, have to deal with lots of complicated things, and need a staff to support the operation of a business, that is not free!

Speaking of people's staff, the benefits that congress get, do their non-intern staff get the same level of insurance, or do they have a lessor plan?  Anyone know?

the govt.

jessieH          Name one thing that the govt. has put their greasy little hands on that was fixed. Anyone have an answer? No? Well, name something these idiots have ruined. EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some wonderful Medicare Numbers (forget Medicaid and Social Sec.

This article gives us some rather dated (2005) numbers about Medicare.

 I'll quote some stuff:

"Thomas R. Saving, a senior fellow with the National Center for Policy Analysis (NCPA) testified about the state of Medicare before a hearing of the Senate Budget Committee yesterday. Dr. Saving explained to Senators that Medicare, while currently costing less than Social Security, will soon surpass the pension program and will require an increasing transfer of general revenue to pay promised benefits, ultimately claiming nearly all of the government's income tax collections.

"The single biggest reason for Congress to reform Social Security is the existence of Medicare," said Dr. Saving prior to his testimony. "Social Security is the easier of the two programs to save. Once that program is put on a firm financial footing, we will be better situated to deal with Medicare."

Click Here to view Saving's testimony as prepared for delivery, which appears below this article.

Some of the highlights from his comments:

  • Today Medicare is America's second largest entitlement program, behind Social Security. In 2004 it accounted for 13 percent of the Federal budget, 2.6 percent of GDP and required general revenue transfers equal to 10.7 percent of federal income taxes.

  • By 2024 Medicare spending is expected to exceed Social Security spending and the differential will continue to escalate thereafter.

  • Taking all three parts of Medicare together we owe the current generation a total of $29.2 trillion and future generations will add another $32.5 trillion to this obligation.

  • Thus, the total Medicare debt is a staggering $61.6 trillion. Let me put this number in perspective for you.

  • Assuming that federal income tax revenues remain at the 50 year average ... the Medicare debt of $61.6 trillion is 62 percent of all future federal income tax receipts.

  • Thus, if Congress passed legislation today, binding on all future Congresses, setting aside 62 percent of all federal income tax revenues from now to eternity, you could just pay for promised Medicare benefits.

  • The transfers required to pay current law benefits given current law taxes and premiums will grow from their current level to almost 19 percent of Federal income taxes in 2015, to over 32 percent in 2025, and will require over 90 percent of projected federal income tax revenues by 2075!"

Remember, this was written in 2005.
