UPDATE AT END OF POST: Hilton Thanks Shuster; Shuster Attacks Prejean's Intellect

David Shuster, MSNBC anchor/journalist, now a part-time Biblical scholar?

The former host of the canceled MSNBC show "1600 Pennsylvania Avenue" has gone on an attack campaign against Miss USA runner-up, Miss California Carrie Prejean for her stance on the same-sex marriage issue and her newly formed alliance with the National Organization Marriage (NOM).

Shuster made the following posts on his Twitter site on April 30, including praising gossip blogger Perez Hilton, who hurled several hateful insults at Prejean:

Story Continues Below Ad ↓
  • Anchoring until 1pm - highly amused by this ad: http://tinyurl.com/ddhec2
  • Not sure Perez Hilton has ever been featured in a political ad. In any case, I think his assessment of Miss USA's logic was accurate.
  • If a narrow read of the bible is the last word on "marriage," what about bible based condemnations of cosmetic surgery? NOM = hypocrisy.
  • Lev. 19:27 expressly forbids men from getting their hair trimmed; Lev. 11:6-9 states that touching a dead pig makes us unclean. (football?)
  • Lev. 19:19 forbids planting two different crops in the same field or wearing two different kinds of thread Penalty? Lev. 24:10-16 death.
  • Who's the bigger hypocrite? Texas Governor http://tinyurl.com/cu7sm4 or Miss CA starring in NOM ad http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id...

However, after making those posts attacking Prejean, he went back to "Shuster the Journalist" and inquired about Prejean's positions with CRC Public Relations, the firm representing NOM with the following e-mail:

In your press release today announcing Carrie Prejean's decision to join NOM today as it launches a new ad defending marriage... you wrote:

"Carrie Prejean does not have an opportunistic agenda. She's a young woman of courage who chose truth over the Miss USA tiara."

(1)  Did you know Carrie Prejean had cosmetic surgery (breast enhancement) just weeks before the competition?

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30495983/

(2)  Why does NOM not consider that "opportunistic?"

(3)  What does NOM think of young women choosing "elective" cosmetic surgery?

(4)  Does NOM still intend to feature miss Prejean as a spokesperson?

We are doing this segment on msnbc nearly every hour... please respond at your earliest convenience.

Thanks

David Shuster

Prejean appeared at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. on April 30 to unveil a NOM television ad. She explained her stance and the reason she was speaking out about the issue - not for the sake of opportunism, as Shuster alleged.

"I am not affiliated with any organization," Prejean said. " ... I am not paid for this. I am very passionate about this. I'm speaking my own views, but I do appreciate the many people who stand on front lines to fight for marriage, including the National Organization for Marriage."

Despite Shuster's anti-conservative remarks in this case and others, including his mocking of the Tax Day tea parties, Shuster claims he's independent.

"I have no party, I'm a complete Independent," Shuster told MSNBC "Morning Joe" host Joe Scarborough on Aug. 26, 2008.

****Update: Shuster and Hilton had this exchange, with Shuster praising Hilton for his attack on Prejean:

now that was some good TV!  when he called the pres a "homophobe", i wonder how many lefties out there got their panties in a bunch...and didn't get that gutfeld was calling them two-faced morons!  gotta smile at that!  ;0)

The left firmly stands in the corner of free speech.  As long as you agree with them.  Have a viewpoint that disagrees with them?  Prepare to be maligned, attacked, smeared.  Prepare to have your personal life torn to shreds.  Prepare to be destroyed.

But you have the right to free speech....

As an aside.  I would suggest that if the breast implant comment is true then the hospital and staff that are involved need to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law... You know the HIPAA Law that FORBIDS release of medical information without the patients express permission....

Re implants

Agree on HIPPA, but the way I heard it the leak came from pageant management, claiming that they paid for it, or them. Don't know if HIPPA would apply to them. If the leak started or was confirmed by anyone in health care though, she definitely would have a case.

It doesn't matter

whether the information leak came from someone associated the the pageant or through the medical staff that were involved.  It is a violation of privacy in either instance.

Of course good luck prosecuting anyone associated with the pageant.  If it is found to be the responsibility of medical personnel, and heads don't roll, then there is a HUGE double standard.

I have worked in hospitals for too many years to even count and I have seen a number of medium to extremely high profile people come through, yet no matter what their popularity level is, there is always someone that knows them.  There is also always individuals ranging from a few to hundreds, that feel the need to check that patient's profile.  Unless you are directly involved in a person's medical care, you have no business prying into their's.

Unfortunately for some the opportunity is too tantalizing to pass up.  That is how so much info gets out.  Either those that actually saw the info with their own eyes blab to the public, or they blab to a friend f a friend of a friend who blabs to the public, or even in some cases there are the "disgruntled" employee, or ex-employee, that blab.

Honestly, besides knowing all of the laws surrounding PHP, there are still people that think that they can get around it.  It will be a damn shame if the people that "blabbed" this, get away with it because I have also seen many people loose their jobs over taking a peek at someone's records.  In this age of technology, it is too easy to track who accessed a patient's records and tell whether or not they had a legit reason for doing so.

The second revolution has started and I believe that it will be bloodless this time.  There is ample evidence across America that the American people are tired of being treated like children and told how to behave, what to believe and how to run their lives.

Carrie did a very good job sticking to her guns and explaining her position.  As previously stated, why does she have to defend her position?

In this day and age when all the fringe groups are trying to foist their beliefs on the majority of people there is no outlet for the majority.

The outlets for ideas are all on the side of the fringe and her having a microphone lets her tell the rest of us, who believe the same way, that we are truly the majority.  Her exposure benefits us all.

Why did Carrie have to

Why did Carrie have to defend her position?

Because Miss USA has to field tougher questions than the President. (h/t Miller, on BOR)

Women like these threaten the left and scares the s**t out of them. Does anyone know who won the Miss USA contest now? NO, so this works to her advantage. The winner has been pushed to the side by the leftist media so they could go after this young woman just like they did Palin because she and those like her represent women and men who can think for themselves and are not hampered by blind ambition and a willingness to do anything, say anything to get into the spotlight. She hasn't backed down one inch and I for one say more power to her and am glad she is not hiding and being fearful of the liberal onslaught. That is exactly what they want to do...silence her.

How irrelevant must you be to have your show canceled by MSNBC? Is it even possible to have ratings lower than .01? Nobody watches the entire network, so how can they even tell his show sucked?

President Obama is nothing more than a lying empty suit; a Hollywood style special effects smoke and mirrors show that has shown itself to be a total fraud.

WAKE UP AMERICA! SAVE OUR CONSTITUTION!

That's okay

He has no audience either. If he loses another viewer the only people watching his show will be the camera crew and staff at MSNBC. He is just trying to generate some "buzz" for a flagging career headed for the hopper. I suppose he believes by being this shrill nasty little piece of work it will endear him to the left and the guys upstairs and they will give him a better show or spot somewhere. Just shows how stupid he is. It hasn't worked for anyone else. Eventually, they will just cut him off like a hangnail and he will end up doing the hog report on some tiny station in Iowa. He is probably just compensating for all those wedgies he got in high school and college. He is a poster boy for girlie-men everywhere.

As a conservative Christian

As a conservative Christian myself, I see the snowball rolling downhill when it comes to gay marriage.  Where will we draw the line to what is acceptable and not.  I don't believe that legalizing gay marriage across the USA is going to stop with just gay marriage it will open the floodgates to other ridiculous things as well.

There will be some obscure study in a foreign country that finds incest is something "they are born with" so let's allow people to marry within thier families.  Let's allow people who love their animals a little too much if you know what I mean and are just "born that way" to marry their animals (like the woman that wanted to marry the dophin in florida).  I mean seriously where is there going to be a line drawn that says we are not going to allow this nonsense to go on any longer.

This woman was gracious for acknowledging that we live in a free country where we can live however we want and not be punished for it, (if it doesn't break the law) but when she voiced her view that isn't poplular with Pop culture she got strongly criticized for it! Big surprise!

Who scared you so badly that

Who scared you so badly that you think things like incestuous marriages and humans marrying animals is even a possibility?  What they're asking for simply is human to human marriage.  If that's what you're against, fine, but don't make up fears of legal bestiality to justify your position.

Besides, Miss Cali's opinion is one thing, but what she stated was factually incorrect - this is not a country where you can choose "one way or another."  Majority rules, and in this country majority has gone with "one way" over the other.

PS - Before I'm crucified, I do not agree with Perez's comments.  He's a jackass.

www.thebrattonreport...

Mike, as long as they are 2

Mike, as long as they are 2 consenting adults of legal age to marry in their state, whether it's male-female, male-male, or female-female.  Of course, I'm all for making the legal age to marry to be 21+ too, but that's another discussion.

21+

Depending upon the wording I could go along with that proposition. As long as no special rights are granted or implied via the recognition of separation of a portion of the population I would be fine with this definition of marriage and the increase in age limit.

The slippery slope argument while it may be valid is a poor excuse since it allows that we should prevent adults from doing what is within their rights in order not to have to prevent people willing to pervert (pun intended) the law for illegal means. Their is no slippery slope if defined properly and the perversion of any law does not in any way excuse the government or the people from fighting for the proper execution of the law.

A person may be won over with logic and reason but the masses must be bought with spectacle and platitudes. - 2008 Elections

Precisely what I'm arguing.

Precisely what I'm arguing.  Thanks for putting it so well.

As Pee-Wee Herman used to say...

I love my Mom...      but I wouldn't wanna marry her!

According to Stew and Agnostic, however, Pee-Wee was wrong!

Sorry, but there are, in fact, qualifications for marriage.  Period.  For all of recorded history, across all cultures, one of those qualifications, in fact the most germane qualification, has been male and female.  The other qualifications (consent, age, affection, the number two, etc.) have always been secondary to the main qualification.

Just why can't a young man marry his mother?  Or sister?  I mean, as long as they're two consenting adults in love, "equal protection" requires it.  Again (for no one has answered the question), why the magical number 2?  Why can't it be any number, including the number 1?  I fill out medical forms all the time indicating "relationship to the insured" as "self."  Why can't marriage liscenses be likewise construed?  That makes for an awful lot of single people being discriminated against out there.  Also, why the age "21" or "18"?  I went through puberty a hell of a lot younger than that.  If marriage is only about sexual behavior, and girls can get abortions without parental consent, then why can't a 35 year old man marry your 14 year old menstruating daughter (or your 15 year old "sexually mature" son) if they are in love? (and things like this do happen)

They see the magic number of 2 & 21. So many other issues

that are not addressed, but in their mind it "doesn't hurt anyone" even though our society will pay the price.

I think you're the first

I think you're the first NBer to use Pee Wee Herman to make an argument.  Are you asking me to write the entire law?  What you're suggesting is rewriting a number of laws, including the rape and assault of children, which I'm pretty sure (I hope) everyone here finds repulsive , as well as incest laws, which are equally repulsive considering the biological consequences of inbreeding.

As far as your traditional marriage qualifications that have been in place for ages, you're forgetting the cases of polygamy that spreads across all cultures and religions.

By the way, abortion has absolutely nothing to do with this discussion, but nice try anyway.

My position for a 21+ law being put in place has nothing to do with this argument either.  I merely think people should live life and get to know each other before committing the next 60 years.  I dated my wife for 7 years before we married.

You are the one wanting to change the law to include homosexuals

You need to convince us.

So far, you have only asked questions and not made a reasonable defense for gay marriage.

I'm not trying to convince

I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything.  I've stated my position as clearly as I can.  I'm just asking what everyone is afraid of, and I'm really hoping to get an honest answer from someone.  So far no one is afraid of gay marriage - only what it's going to lead to.

If you say you're against gay marriage, for religious reasons or otherwise (maybe you just don't want gays to marry - fine), at least it's honest.  Just don't use bestiality as your reasoning.

And the questions I've asked aren't being answered anyway, so what's the harm?

Difference.

Being against something isn't the same as being "afraid" of something, Stew.

Homosexuality, regardless of whether or not it is falsely recognized as being the basis for a "marriage," is a sexual deviancy.  It is counterproductive for individuals and for society--and it is far from compassionate to validate that behavior.

--Mike

www.thebrattonreport...

People have been gay

People have been gay forever, Mike.  It's not something new.  Your gay next door neighbors are still going to live their lives the same way whether they're married or not.

You think?

I'll bet my homosexual friends and colleagues will "lives their lives the same way" too.  Unless they respond to the truth spoken to them in love, as people have also been doing "forever."

--Mike

www.thebrattonreport...

And like I've said before,

And like I've said before, if you're against gay marriage because of your religious beliefs or just your own beliefs, fine.  I'm not looking to change your mind.  But to hide behind fears of what it will lead to, such as pedophilia, incest and bestiality is ignorant at the very least.

Fair enough. I do not fear gays and actually have been

approached and hit on by one guy while in the Navy.  Many knew who were gay and frankly did not say anything (contrary to the supposed "witch hunts" that go on in the military.

Acceptance of this lifestyle in an official capacity is to embolden that which is an immoral lifestyle.  As far as being nice to gay people an letting them live together in peace... fine.

I  think it is to our nations detriment to officially recognize gay marriage... and I guess you could say I totally buy the slippery slope on this one.

Approached and hit on, but

Approached and hit on, but it didn't turn you gay.  People, take notice.  As far as the immoral lifestyle, while I disagree with your point of view, I respect your opinion.  I don't think it will lead to our nation's downfall, as I don't believe legalizing same sex marriage will change the number of gays in our country even by 1.  I guess we'll wait and see.

Just because you've said it before doesn't mean it makes sense.

Who's "hiding behind fears"?  No one I've seen, just as I'm certainly not.

But you go right on miscategorizing objections to bad behavior as "fear."  That helps things a lot...

The thing I keep seeing is "what happens next, AFTER we legalize gay marriage."  Everyone is afraid of this snowball effect, when no one out there is asking for anything more than for 2 consenting adults of the same sex being allowed to marry.

Please understand the flaw in your reasoning, Stew.

It's summed up in three little words: "Everyone is afraid".

Preferring moral social behavior to immoral is not the result of fear, Stew.  Wanting the best for people who are ill is not the result of fear.  Believing this country should limit deviancy, rather than mainstream it, is not the result of fear.

The "snowball effect" is, to be blunt, a measured, sober, mature way to look at the potential consequences of lazy, liberal social planning.  If people engage in name-calling, that's never good, but people bring that sort of immaturity to most any issue without it being attributed to fear, Stew.

Do you seriously believe that there will be no negative ramifications from broadening the definition of marriage?

--Mike

And here's the flaw in your reasoning:

Preferring moral social behavior to immoral is not the result of fear

The "snowball effect" is, to be blunt, a measured, sober, mature way to look at the potential consequences of lazy, liberal social planning.

This is nothing but anti-gay propaganda.  Being gay is not a choice, no matter what you think.  Also, your morals are not the beliefs of everyone else.  Your morals are not always right.  Many straight people do not believe gay sex to be immoral.  What makes you think you are right about this?  Why are ONLY your set of morals the right ones?

And no, I do not believe there will be any negative ramifications from allowing gays to marry.  What are the negatives so far?  Several states have legalized it, and the sky hasn't fallen.

No offense, but ...

Unfortunately, I didn't ask a question about allowing so-called "gays" to marry.  I asked a question about broadening the definition of marriage.  There's a difference.

But I quite agree--if people like Stew want to shift the discussion from the issue at hand so that they can conduct personal attacks on other posters, then this subsection has run its course.

Can you post a message

Can you post a message without getting one last dig in? Allowing gays to marry and broadening the the definition of marriage (to allow gays to marry) are the exact same thing.  Where is the personal attack?  Is it that I asked why only your set of morals are the correct ones?

Queen, I'm ready to end this here.  Mike, go ahead with the last word.

Different groups have different goals, Stew.

Some want to broaden marriage in an attempt to validate one sexual deviancy, while others have as a goal the validation of a different deviancy.  Their respective attempts are so myopic as to lose focus on the greater social damage such redefinitions would wreak on our culture.

You, Stew, are advocating a move that seeks to validate a type of sexual deviancy.  Do you understand that any such attempt to broaden the definition of marriage can only end badly, whether it's to benefit your cause célèbre or someone else's?

Or, do consequences just not matter?

--Mike

www.thebrattonreport...

"This is nothing but

"This is nothing but anti-gay propaganda.  Being gay is not a choice, no matter what you think."

So, you are suggesting that it is an inheritable physical trait?  That a scientist can objectively identify "sexual orientation" from a DNA analysis (as he can with species, sex, race, etc.)?

Sorry, but I am not convinced that it is anything but a choice.  It's a behavior -- it's not a set of physically inheritable criteria.  And what else is behavior but a choice?  And even if it were true that "it's not a choice," it still doesn't follow that a trans-cultural, primordial social institution, the base unit of human community since the dawn of time, should be radically redefined according to our arbitrary transient whims.  As Abraham Lincoln once said, "Calling a tail a leg doesn't make it a leg."

"Let's wrap him up, alright?" -- Keith Olbermann

once again, the questions remain unanswered

1. Pee-Wee Herman was used as a satirical device. It makes a point, namely that "to consensually love someone" is not what fundamentally constitutes the basis for marriage.

2. What I am suggesting is that marriage, but definition, has qualifications -- by definition, it discriminates amongst people.

3. What I am also suggesting is that, throughout all history and cultures, the most germane attribute of marriage is that it is male-female intimacy. You have only inadvertantly acknowledged my point when you mention polygamy in history.

4. Yes, we do find sexual perversions repulsive, which is why there are laws against them. The same goes for homosexual behavoir, which was universally regarded as such until the covert media programming of the past 15 or so years.

5. Abortion may not have anything to do with the discussion, but it again, by way of comparison, makes a point.

6. Commitment is an act of the will. You either say "I will" or you don't.  And no one said it was easy, nor should anyone be led to believe that it is, and last, but certainly not least...

7. Once again, the questions which follow the question of "why can't two dudes get married?" have not been answered.

Wow! I can't believe you made that hateful, bigoted statement!

So you want to force-feed your opinions down the throats of other Americans?!?  You seriously want to insist that only two people at a time can get married?  Your zealotry makes it easy to persecute groups of men and/or women who only want to practice their Gaia-given instinct for polyamory!!  I hope you sleep well, knowing that your narrow-mindedness wrecks the lives of people who only want to build loving, committed relationships while being able to split the household chores three or four ways!  Or, five ways... Maybe six...

And wow, Mr. Authoritarian Dude--Did it ever occur to you that if someone is capable of taking on the challenges and responsibilities of middle school, that s/he is more than capable of handling a little thing like the lifetime commitment of marriage?!?

What is wrong with bigoted Neanderthals like you, Stew? People under the age of 21 have been getting married for a long time!   In the spirit of Barack Obama's one-world aspirations, we should take our cues from open-minded countries like Saudi Arabia, where eight-year-olds can be sold... er, can be encouraged to marry by their parents!!

People like you, Stew, with your oppressive talk of things like "consent" and "legality," are just using those terms to crank the yoke of oppresive, outdated morality around the throats of the truly progressive!  You make the truly open-minded among us want to throw up!  And then throw up all over again! And then get the dry heaves for a few minutes, only to throw up one more time!!

...Whew.  Man, it's tough sounding like that.  Didn't realize it was such hard work to make such little sense.  Point being, Stew, that if you're going to be sanctioning one sexual deviancy, there are others waiting in the wings, often loaded with "consenting adults."  Do you plan on telling them "no" when you've already set a precedent?

Is Shitster aware that No. 2 (Plugs) and No. 3 (Princess Botoxia) have partaken of the forbidden fruit of surgical enhancement? Probably dozens of times?

Why does he feel obliged to attack this woman? He's clearly on his way out at MSNBC, so the only thing I can think of he is angling for an administration job? He's making such as ass out of himself and his ratings are so abysmal no other network is going to touch him.

Not to mention

But I think Stew is correct when he charges that there have been many other examples of prejorative language used here in various contexts - especially when it comes to the discussion of homosexuality. BTW, the pirate term is a new one to me too.

"Homo is an shortened version of homosexual."

And "limp-wristed homos" is what? I'll throw in with Stew on the use of the term "homo" in the first post on this thread. The intention is obvious.

I think it has been established that "queer" and "homo" are perfectly acceptable terms when referring to homosexuals.

Would you like to answer any

Would you like to answer any of my questions above?

Once again, this brings us back to the argument about that N word again.  Yes, some black people use it, but everyone with a functioning brain knows it's not okay.  Queer Eye is a show about a bunch of gay men - they named the show themselves, and therefore are calling themselves queer.  Is it okay for gays to now be referred to as queers because a few guys on TV use it?  You decide.

Now where's the show "Jim the Homo?"  I don't see that making the mid-season replacement lineup this year.

So no, it hasn't been established.

Do you ever use the term "homophobe"

It's hard to talk when you're teabagging - Anderson Cooper

Yes.  From

Yes.  From Merriam-Webster:

Homophobia - irrational fear of, aversion to, or discrimination against homosexuality or homosexual

Homo - — homo adjective often disparaging

→ Stew

And since Webster doesn't say "homophobe" is disparaging, it necessarily isn't?

Does phobia mean "hate" or "fear"?

The term "homophobe", if one accepts that it refers to homosexuality rather than (homo = man), translates to fear of homosexuals.

I don't fear them, I just don't agree with the lifestyle, and I resent the use of the word "homophobe"

I therefore demand all homosexuals cease and desist from referring to my ideology as homophobic.  To do so is hate speech.

Fair enough?

Now will you answer my 3 questions from above?

Does your pastor say homo?

Do the educators teaching your kids use homo to describe gays?

Do the newsbuster writers use "homo" in their articles?

Does any public figure use the word homo when referring to gays?

And what does the fact that anyone has had cosmetic surgery have to do with their stance on marriage? That particular question was purposely meant to embarrass Ms. Prejean on a personal level and was completely irrelevant.

As far as the bible and marriage are concerned, this is just another example of defining the defense of traditional marriage as a strictly far-right religious idea. Traditional marriage has been the norm in many cultures for centuries.

Doubling down on stupid is not a particularly good idea. ~Andrew Breitbart

Shuster is an Idiot

As is almost always the case, he is distorting the point Miss California and all of the States that have voted on this are making. No one is calling for any rights to be taken away. Gays can co-habitate, they can get health insurance for their significant other, they can do everything a straight couple can do, but they cannot call their "union" a marriage. Marriage is defined as being between a man and a woman - simple as that. The only reason the dopes in the MSM and wannabe dopes like Shuster continue this distortion is because it's a convenient way to bash conservatives without the fear of  a fact check. I mean, they aint gonna fact check each other are they?

Like most PRETEND

Like most PRETEND Christians, David Shuster doesn't have the faintest clue about the bible or Jesus Christ.  CHRISTIANS have NEVER been SUBJECT to a SINGLE LAW in the OLD TESTAMENT. Only an IDIOT who is on his way to HELL would think that. The OLD TESTAMENT is for the examination of the prophecies that Christ's coming FULFILLED. PERIOD. The Christian church has NEVER been subject to ANY of the Law of Moses! In fact,  formerly Jewish CHRISTIANS who because of spiritual WEAKNESS, sought to RETURN to the tenets of the LAW were MOCKED, RIDICULED and told off, by Paul.

Colossians 2

20Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,

 21(Touch not; taste not; handle not;

22Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?

23Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body: not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.

Obviously he's not talking about the abstention of those things which in fact ARE sinful. He's talking about placing oneself under ORDINANCES that CHRIST SPECIFICALLY CAME TO FREE YOU FROM.

Without the verified Spirit of Christ an UN-REGENERATED individual like Shuster and others I could name, are INCAPABLE of reading the bible and understanding it. The reason is because the bible itself hides it's meaning from the un-regenerated.  I know that's news to a lot of you who think you can read your bible and be saved in that manner but faith doesn't come by "reading"... it comes by "hearing".

Rom 10

17So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

The problem is that not all of those who call themselves "preachers" have what they need to "preach". That would be the Holy Ghost. If you read the first chapter of the book of Acts you'll see that in Acts chapter 1 v 4 Jesus tells his Apostles this....

Acts 1

4And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.

5For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

Why did He tell them to wait? What were they hoping to do once they finished waiting?

Many of you on this blog mock my biblically correct positions. You in your ignorance like to suggest that it's just "my interpretation" or some such other bilge. When I point out the NECESSITY of receiving Christ's Spirit the EXACT SAME WAY that the Apostles received it, you scoff. Well, riddle me this batman, In Matt 10:8-10 Jesus Christ gave his Apostles the power to heal the sick and to RAISE THE DEAD. These are the same Apostles that were with Him for 3 1/2 yrs of His earthly ministry. They were there when he fed the five thousand they were there when he raised Jairus' daughter from the dead as well as LAZARUS. BUT according to Jesus Christ they were not yet fit to PREACH THE GOSPEL. So how is your preacher who is in the same UN-REGENERATED state as the Apostles, meaning he is a good man, full of faith, that has undoubtedly not yet been "filled". I say this not to be cruel but because if he had received the Holy Ghost the same way as the Apostles, he would have told you to do the same! And since you find these, as Paul called them, "elementary principles" of the Kingdom strange, it's a good bet that your preacher doesn't have them~!

See in the first chap of Acts the Apostles are preparing to START THE CHURCH. They are ready to start PREACHING TO THE WORLD. But Jesus said that they were not ready without HIS SPIRIT. HE commanded them to stay in Jerusalem UNTIL they received it then and only then could they start the church.  They couldn't even UNDERSTAND THE BIBLE WITHOUT HIS SPIRIT which is why he did something unusual with them. In advance of receiving His Spirit the Lord opens their understanding in Lu 24:45. This was only for them because he needed them to know and understand the IMPORTANCE OF NOT LEAVING JERUSALEM UNTIL THEY HAD RECEIVED HIS SPIRIT!

When they received His Spirit, they did so with the SIGN that Jesus TOLD THEM IN MARK 16:15-20 and in JOHN 3:8 that they would receive (Acts 2:4), they spoke in tongues, the mysterious SOUND, that Jesus told Nicodemus about.

Most of your preachers CALLED THEMSELVES to the ministry. Jesus Christ has NEVER at ANY TIME called a man to the ministry who did not get His Spirit the EXACT SAME WAY the Apostles did.

That is why Shuster and many of you think the O.T has relevance apart from fulfillment of prophecy. That is why many of you scoff at the very method of salvation which saved Christ's apostles.  There isn't a single Catholic Priest who is saved. Not ONE. The ones who actually receive the Spirit with appropriate evidence, are then led by the Spirit to leave the Catholic CHurch so they can be baptized properly.

Jesus said you must be born again and that the process involved water baptism in HIS NAME AND the reception of HIS SPIRIT. The catholic Church will marginalize any priest who began to speak in tongues and the would KICK HIM OUT as they have many, if he ever received the proper revelation of baptism in Jesus name, like Peter ( Acts 2:38). This "intolerance" of the actual method of salvation exists in all of the "offshoots" of the Catholic Church, the Baptists (disclaimer below), the Protestants, the Episcopalians, Lutherans, Methodists, all are temples of false doctrine. They ALL regard as strange ANYONE who actually does it the way it was DONE. IF that ain't satan, I dunno what is!

That is why these elementary principles of the Kingdom seem strange or "intolerant", to you. I am not writing these things to laud myself above you. I am nothing, Christ is ALL.  I am writing these things so that you will read your bibles and find an appropriate PENTECOSTAL APOSTOLIC church to baptize you properly, they will also tarry (wait) with you until Christ himself speaks through your body. Be careful though, as the Lord said a little "leaven" , leavens the whole loaf and Apostolic churches are not immune to the wooing of false doctrine for the sake of "popularity". So ask them how they baptize and how one receives the Holy Ghost. If they don't tell you THIS about baptism ( Acts 2:38) and if they don't tell you THIS about receiving Christ's Spirit ( Acts 2:4 ) they are LIARS, start the search again.

If you live in the south, the FIRST BAPTISTS also receive the Holy Ghost properly as well as baptize in Jesus' name. All other Baptists do NOT as a rule consider the reception of the Holy Ghost necessary for salvation, much to their eventual chagrin.

God bless you all.

What, no choir?

Thanks for the warning, Acts

Just wondering Acts, have you personally been lifted up to heaven and returned to earth in order to be able to say with confidence which sort of baptism is legit? The argument regarding the words used in baptizing has been settled in all other Christian traditions except for Pentecostals. I guess they'll be plenty of room in heaven for you guys with all of the rest of us condemned to hell for ignoring your interpretation.

well QM, it's like this

Oneness people are quick to call themselves Pentecostal because they are on a mission to redefine what Pentecostal means. They desperately want to be mainstream and believe the Pentecostal name can be easily hijacked.

Calling them 'oneness' is more accurate.

Civilization is the progress toward a society of privacy. The savage's whole existence is public, ruled by the laws of the tribe. Civilization is the process of setting man free from men. - Ayn Rand

That is correct.

Any group embracing "Oneness" beliefs is at odds with what the Bible itself says about the nature of God as addressed in the doctrine of the Trinity.

Since Christianity, by definition, is Trinitarian, Oneness followers exclude themselves from the faith.

I'm sorry, excuse me for my ignorance here, Acts, but when you say:

"They," (the apostles) "couldn't even UNDERSTAND THE BIBLE WITHOUT HIS SPIRIT which is why

shallow logic

So Shuster fancies himself a biblical scholar?  Hate to break this to him, but he's a got a bit more studying to do.

First off, the Book of Leviticus is riddled with commands of all kinds.  His argument goes along the lines of this: If I can show one (or more) commandments from Leviticus that are self-evidentally no longer binding, then none of those commandments must be binding.  Unfortunately, for him, however, this argument, which relies on induction, is simply not valid.  On the other hand, if I can find but one of those commandments that are self-evidentally binding, then it does follow that they cannot all be non-binding.  I thus submit Exhibit A (Lev. 18:9-10):

9 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy sister by father or by mother, whether born at home or abroad. 10 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy son's daughter, or thy daughter's daughter: because it is thy own nakedness.

Does Shuster mean to say that incest is legitimate, because, after all, men can shave?

Sorry.  The verses in Leviticus that deal with sexual perversions are quite clear in their condemnation, unlike the verses dealing with personal hygene.  I submit Exhibit B (Lev. 18:22-25):

22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind, because it is an abomination. 23 Thou shalt not copulate with any beast, neither shalt thou be defiled with it. A woman shall not lie down to a beast, nor copulate with it: because it is a heinous crime. 24 Defile not yourselves with any of these things with which all the nations have been defiled, which I will cast out before you, 25 And with which the land is defiled: the abominations of which I will visit, that it may vomit out its inhabitants. (emphasis mine)

"Let's wrap him up, alright?" -- Keith Olbermann

...

Shuster needs his own pair of breast implants to finish the job.  He doesn't have a pair down there as it is.  In fact, all the pretty-women-hating goons over at PMSNBC might as well come clean on their misogyny of beautiful, conservative women.  Just say "we hate women because we're jealous."  Such pathetic, childish peons working in the world of adults over there.

Dear David Schuster

Here's what Jesus had to say about marriage and what he authorized on it:

Mark 10:7

"For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.  What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. "

Gentlemen...

I abhor all violence to women. When I hear of murders, rape, and kidnappings of these pretty girls, I cry in my heart. I want to turn back the clock of time to rescue them. What happened to Carrie Prejean was just as horrible, because sometimes, psychological assaults can have long lasting damage.

We must not let this pogrom of hate contiune. For me, this electronic rape of a beautiful and intelligent young lady was the final straw with the left in general.

I personally have nothing against a person's sexual orientation or what kind things they do in their bedrooms, in other words, private lives. Gay marriage is not the issue here. Whether you are for or against it is your personal opinion. I am 100% in favor of free speech...unlike the left.

The left is against any opposing view that doesn't subscribe to their repulsive and irresponsible agenda. The fact that this pretty girl spoke her mind is something they will never tolerate. They don't care that several young men love and adore her...it didn't fit their communist politically correct manifesto. The rat bastard pervert Hilton went on to call her a c*nt on MSNBC and no one is holding him responsible. NO ONE. Hence, electronic rape was committed in my opinion, and Miss Prejean's violated honor must be defended. This will not stand.

The liberal left must be destroyed at all costs, because they are in the process of doing it to America. There's no turning back now. Take action.

Just some

Just some observations:

1.  Shuster is a clearly a religious bigot, mocks the bible, should be prosecuted for committing a HATE CRIME.

2. Shuster clearly has no understanding of the context of what he is reporting on in the Bible..and he is a journalist?  Wow, even a rank amatuer could place context around those versus and prove Shuster's reading comprehension is that or below that of a 1st grader. For example: Cutting the hair, a command given to a certain few, who would voluntarily devote their lives entirely to God, they were also to abstain from all alcohol, and had a very peculiar dress code...  About two thousand years later..John the baptist came on the scene, and adhered to these very same tenants set forth in Torah milleniums prior.  The verse concerning planting two differnt crope in one field was an object lesson to the Hebrews to not mix those things deemed Holy by God, with those things deemed UNCLEAN with God..the two cannot mix and should not mix...as God makes it clear in the Bible HE cannot even be in the prescense of SIN (unholiness.)   and that dovetailes with the scripture regarding touching a dead pig (designated an unclean animal by God...of course Shuster is attacking Christians, Jews and Muslims with this particular insult to God/Hashem/Allah...so he is not making any allies here at all. Let me put this as simply as possible...if there is a God, and God created everything we see, then clearly God created all this for some reason, now wouldnt it make sense that God would communicate this purpose to us.  And then let us also contend that he would have to communicate to his creations (a primitive people)  in a method they would be able to understand?  Lets not forget the first lesson above, dont mix clean(holy) with unclean(evil).  That alone lets us know there is Good and Evil in Gods eyes.  And if that is true then either what Shuster is pushing is Good, or Evil.  By definition because he is rejecting his creator, (and this is entirely HIS DECISION, so he cant blame anyone but himself) I would be bold enough to assert that Shuster has shown himself to be evil..or immoral if you preffer.  Wow all this from a few verses in the Bible that Shuster REJECTS.

Shuster!

Why doesn't this bigot just go away! He has proven that he can't do a show, without it being cancelled.  Once again, PMSNBC has proven that they have no ethics. Just having this jerk on TV proves that PMSNBC is brainless!

Don't be shocked....

Since MSNBC can't pay the rent of their offices don't be shocked when you see Shuster answer the call, 'cleanup on isle 3, at your local McDonalds. He's not qualified for anything higher than the mop and bucket brigade. Old, Retired and glad of it.

The treatment

Beware. Anyone who dares speak the truth can expect the treatment. If the left doesn't think you should say what you said, you will get the treatment they have prepared for you. "Joe the Plumber" got it. This beautiful courageous normal woman is getting it.

It shows how really vicious the left is. They destroy good people. The KGB and the Gestapo were nothing compared to the viciousness of the left.

shyster

OK you smug little punk, who's trying to hold on of what little he has of what he considers a "career", how did you lose your job at 1600, only to be replace by Ed Schultz who lost rating share? It says alot about what your superiors at MSDNC think of your "journalistic skills" doesn't it asshole? Is this the "best" you can do, insult women? Afterall, besides this story isn't your 1 and only 1 claim to "fame" is insulting the Clintons about "pimping" Chelsea? You are nothing more than a gutless little weasel with the backbone of a common invertebrate.  I"d suggest you do the honorable thing, but being an MSDNC employee, you don't have an operational definition of the term,do you.  What does any of this have to do with her opinion, jerkoff, or are differences in opinion not allowed in your Obamaman's brave new world? You're at least 20-25 years younger than me but I'd do the time just to bitch slap you you arrogant punk.

What about Shuster's elective lobotomy surgery?

I'd guess that about ten times as many people have heard of Carrie Prejean as Ms California than have heard of Shuster.

And Shuster had better be careful. Seriously.

Poeple might start making very personal enquiries about HIS elective surgery. Starting with his lobotomy... and the pre-op Rachel Maddcow.

It's also common knowledge that "Perez" (has had more men in him than the Paris) Hilton has had penis enlargement surgery.

He had three size choices:

Large

Donkey

Dick Head

Naturally Perez went for Dick Head.
