Want to see the bitterness of media elitism? Take a look at what San Francisco Chronicle's environmental blog, "The Thin Green Line," thinks of the public's attitude about global warming.
According to an April 17 Rasmussen Reports poll, only one out of three voters believes global warming is caused by human activity. For Cameron Scott of the Chronicle's "The Thin Green Line," this isn't due to the public's ability to discern a hoax when they see one, but a so-called "disinformation campaign," as he explained on an April 18 post.
"This is the most successful disinformation campaign in the history of the world (it's largely financed by fossil fuel companies)," Scott wrote. "There is virtual scientific unanimity on the issue: Natural planetary trends alone cannot account for the rapid changes we are currently witnessing."
However, there is a large amount of skepticism on the theory of anthropogenic global warming. A report released by the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee Dec. 22, 2008 revealed more than 650 prominent scientists questioning the hype surrounding Gore's global warming claims.
According to Scott, this is a result of the politicization of science and he compared it to other hot-button issues, where individual beliefs don't always agree with what some on the left think is not open to debate.
"I suppose this is what happens when you politicize science-evolution, sex education," Scott wrote. "Acceptance of human causality among Democrats and unaffiliated voters is about the same, hovering at about half. But 66 percent of self-identifying Republicans disagree. And in worldwide polls, the question of human causality isn't even asked."

Alarmists just keep bringing up the tired old propaganda about big oil being behind everything. But they fail based on simple logic, the millions of people that work in the fossil fuel industry around the world all live on this planet too. I would love an alarmist to explain what benefit they would get from "destroying the planet". The whole thing is a scam forged out of socialist thinking to take down capitalism.

April 19, 2009 - 01:50 ET by ICONIC FREEDOMGreat posts - thanks for the links.
I'm sick and tired of this bullsh*t from liberals who know little or nothing of science - what actually is considered FACTS - and give little attention to what a hypothesis is vs. a theory.
http://www.uoguelph.ca/~rmckitri/research/trc.html
I've taken the time over the years to personally research stories, gather data, understand it and reach conclusions - like a responsible citizen would do - instead of relinquishing my "trust" to others who have personal agendas to sway information.
This link is reason enough when you read about the so-called "hockey stick" and how it was debunked, how the information was thwarted & misguided and how a cover-up was attempted. If liberals don't believe it, ask why it no longer exists in the IPCC report
I'm sure many, many other Americans can point to links & websites that do the same.
We're not stupid; we have access to information; we pay attention and take response-ability for knowing.
Unlike liberals, we don't just "feel" like gorebal warming is happening - we look at the science, which is objective, not voted in by consensus.
The only question ANY human being need ask: "Why won't the scientists who created the models which started this whole load of cr*p, release their data, the models and show it all on youtube or television and prove it once and for all?"

SMART GRID == ELECTRICITY RATIONING
April 19, 2009 - 10:12 ET by 10ksnookerThe other goal of the CAP-N-TAX fraud.
It's time we say prove it ... The latest analysis is the excess CO2 in the atompshere is traceable to source with carbon dating methods. And that shows that the majority of CO2 is it not from burning fossile fules.
And here is anmother fine question ... Since CO2 has been much higher than today, how do we know the present level isn't too low?
Prove it or shut up, I say.
Gee!?!?
April 19, 2009 - 13:06 ET by Wildcatter1980No GE aka General Electric, owner of NBC with their subdivisions CNBC and [P]MSNBC. Also, a major manufacturing corporation heavily involved in the electrical power infrastructure and the "smart grid". And, a major recipient of TARP bailout funds for it financial arm.
The company's performance has been abysmal since Jeffrey Immelt took over for Jack Welch. Why the President tabbed him as a "worthwhile" economic adviser is unexplainable. (It is apparent the reasons were not related to economic knowledge or business sense.)
It is also apparent that GE is wielding its (corporate) influence to cajole the President and the Federal government to support the "smart grid", other electrical grid upgrades and alternative power sources to rebuild GE's bottom line. All of this is happening with nary a peep of protest from the far left wingnuts who regularly rail against the Republican Party as the political party of big corporations as well as the "excessive" influence of lobbyists inside the beltway.

It looks to me that they are just about to attain their goal of turning the once mighty US of A into a third world economic (and more importantly for them) military basket case.

Instead of Tea Parties to fight Cap-and-Trade...
April 19, 2009 - 04:43 ET by on-the-rocksmaybe we need a series of "Bring your cap and trade it with someone" parties, or something like that. In other words, to demonstrate the only types of caps that we will accept are "baseball" caps, everyone would bring a new cap and trade it with someone, while protesting this power and money grab by the government. "Trading caps parties", perhaps.
It would give some more common citizens the chance to "take apart" lib journalists or at least flummox them more.
One additional thing, if this sort of thing were to come together, we could ask that participants try to make an effort to buy American-made caps (or at least ones made in this hemisphere), to keep our own stimulus money closer to home.
[If this doesn't make any sense, I apologize. I woke up too early and I need to go back to bed.]

No, that would be the Islam/Leftist alliance that has managed to convince at least half the world that tiny Israel is the problem in the Middle East.
The 2nd most successful disinformation campaign in history is that CO2 is a "pollutant."
The 3rd most successful disinformation campaign in history is that "Global Warming" exists in the first place, not whether it's anthropogenic or not. That 34% (i.e. *millions*) of people believe such nonsense is truly frightening.

April 19, 2009 - 08:46 ET by pbthinkerThis whole debate should be about the politicization of science. Re Consensus
April 19, 2009 - 16:37 ET by slickwillie2001Good article, tfp. The truth is that Al Gore and his acolytes have always been unclear on what they mean when they use the word consensus. Dictionary-wise, it can mean anything from 50.1% to vague terms like 'most'. In the first IPCC report, they would not reveal what percentage of those in the report that agreed with the conclusion. Skeptical insiders estimated at the time that the believers numbered only around 60-65%. At the same time, of those in the report, a small minority had purview over the entire report anyway. They tended to be divided up into areas of limited responsibility.
How would the public feel about the IPCC reports and their conclusions if they knew that 49% of the participants did not agree with the conclusion? A Congressional investigation could find out these statistics easily, but that will never happen.

April 19, 2009 - 11:50 ET by danboSorry Mr Scott. With a degree in anthropology, I'm a believer in the "theory" (not law) of evolution.
But in anthropology you learn a few things about science. And climate. So I can't buy your disinformation.
The only way you can say the science is over (science is never over) is to ignore a whole lot of inconvient data and science.
But then your disinformation is to pretend none of this inconvenient data and science exists.
May we ask who paid you to write this BS? And how much?
