Everything you thought you knew about MSNBC political slant - throw it out the window, because one MSNBC host says you're probably wrong.

MSNBC's Contessa Brewer, appearing on "The Mark Reardon Show" on St. Louis KMOX 1120 AM radio on April 13. Brewer defended her network against the perception that it is a liberal cable news channel.

"No, but we're not liberal," Brewer said. "No, we're not liberal. We're not liberal. That's crazy - that's crazy talk."

According to Brewer, since MSNBC has a program hosted by former Republican Florida Congressman Joe Scarborough and has Pat Buchanan as a contributor that absolves the network of having the "liberal" label attached to it.

"I'm a middle-of-the-road kind of person," Brewer added. "I'm a smart thinker. If it makes sense, it doesn't matter if it's conservative or if it's progressive, which I think is the label they'd rather use - then I'm going to say what I say and sometimes I get a lot of crap for it."

A couple of Brewer's most outspoken moments over the past week have been her disapproval that President Barack Obama wasn't receiving an honorary degree from Arizona State University, both on April 10 and April 13.

Still, Brewer insisted that since there is the possibility that some of the voices are on MSNBC are "progressive," that doesn't make them "the liberal channel."

"But look Mark, MSNBC is not the liberal channel," Brewer said. "Do we have some progressive voices, some people who lean left? Yeah, maybe. But, are we the liberal channel? Come on."

She said those who think otherwise haven't watched enough MSNBC and are basing their judgment on snippets.

"I think if that's the perception, it's based on people who don't watch more than a segment or two at a time."

Moving the goalposts

Moving the goalposts again, eh liberals? Like there's a big difference between "progressives" and liberals.

Progressives are farther

Progressives are farther left than liberals. They are the neo-cons of the left so neo-libs would be accurate.

"DumbAssity of Dope"

Hmmmm...

Thou doth protest too much, me thinks.

Is she kidding?

Still, Brewer insisted

Still, Brewer insisted that since there is the possibility that some of
the voices are on MSNBC are "progressive," that doesn't make them "the
liberal channel."

I agree. Saying MSNBC is "liberal" is like saying Dr. Kevorkian was a bad doctor. From what I've read on this site, I'd say "vial," "repulsive," or "hate-mongering" would better describe the left's puppet network.

I watch all the time

I watch MSNBC all the time, because they constantly re-affirm my belief
that NBC is in the tank for democrats. I think we all know the
"Scarborough and Pat" excuse is a red herring. Joe is neutered and Pat
is constantly shouted down for his views.

What in the hell is wrong with you?

Why would anyone watch PMSNBC all the time? Anybody with a 1/10 of a brain wouldn't watch PMSNBC, on any occasion.

"I think if that's the

"I think if that's the perception, it's based on people who don't watch more than a segment or two at a time."

Uh, yeah contessa. A segment or two is all we can stand of you liberal bias.

This chick is unbeliveable. "I'm a middle of the road kind of person", "I',m a smart thinker". Yeah right. This one is as dumb as they come folks, which wouldn't bother me so much, but she thinks WE are as dumb as SHE is. Now THAT bothers me.

Restless,

"I'm a middle of the road kind of person", "I'm a smart thinker".

Well, naturally. "Smart" and "moderate" are just their code words for "liberal." After all, everyone knows that only conservatives are "dumb" and "extreme."

Excuse me, gotta go barf now.

A smart thinker?

How many intelligent people would describe themselves as a "smart thinker?" I mean, really, what's the alternative, a dumb thinker? Dumb people can't think, that's why they're dumb!

I personally would use the term "a reasoning individual," as in having the ability to reason. But, then again, I'm not dumb like Brewer.

Kinda makes me want to send

Kinda makes me want to send a link to the Shuster clip from the following (previous?) board to Contessa.

Listen to that, and explain how you're not a "liberal" mouth-piece network, lady!

"I'm a smart thinker."

I'm of the opinion that Contessa Brewer is one of the dumbest anchors on the air.

Hummm well she said it...don't blame me....

Brewer said when asked if MSNBC is the liberal network,  "I think if that's the perception, it's based on people who don't watch more than a segment or two at a time."

I guess she doesn't watch her own network.  Then again I don't blame her I don't watch it either.

Msnbc is a liberal network

Msnbc is a liberal network no doubt about it.  It lost all objectivity and lost my interest. Frankly, I don't watch except to laugh. Keeps getting worse year after year. Contessa is an airhead. I used to like the network when Imus was on, but now he is gone along with Tucker Carlson and Rita Cosby, who really didn't bring in the ratings, but who weren't liberal. Amy Robach is about the only one I can stand and she isn't even on. She's on the infotainment Today Show. I don't like how they bash and trash people they hate. Well I don't like them. They aren't fair or balanced.

Anyone see their coverage on

Anyone see their coverage on the White House mutt?

MSNBC is more liberally

MSNBC is more liberally biased than any other 'news' source.

P.S. The "Dude Looks Like A Lady" picture at the top of this screen is making me lose my appetite. Bleh.

"LIberally biased"?

How about outright "leftist"?

I CANT WATCH

....more than a couple segments at a time....makes me want to throw things....

progressive is to liberal as...

number 2 is to crap!

"There are two types of people in this country; those who provide freedom and those who enjoy it." MM says...

Have said it before, will say it again . . .

LIBERALISM IS A MENTAL, SPIRIT AND INTELLECTUAL DISEASE.

Those it infects apparently also suffer from terminal myopia.

Why doesn't MSNBC just

Why doesn't MSNBC just admit they are Liberal Progressives?

They know it. Their three viewers know it. Everyone knows it.

It's like when we watch the video of President TelePrompter bow to the Saudi King and the White House says "he didn't bow".

D-Lusional

I'd say Douche Bag, but I've already reserved that for Shuster, Schultz, Olberdork and that Maddow dude.

Who can stomach

more than snippets of Olbermann, Schuster, Maddow, and Matthew? Chrissy get a tingle in his leg when Obama speaks, my stomach begins to wretch whenever any of these four are speaking.

Who exactly are they trying

Who exactly are they trying to convince?

One of the 34% who thinks George W. Bush was a great President. One of the 61% who wants to bring back the stock and pillory (yep...approval for Congress now at 39%...do you believe that!?).

If the problem was just that

If the problem was just that some people watch a few segments and their programing is balanced then there would be something of a Bell curve of descriptions of their programing.  But there isn't anyone saying they're conservative or even balanced.  The 'smart thinker' just can't do the math.

A boat trip down denial.

Why is it that liberals can't admit it what they are called what they are. I know of no conservative who is ashamed of being called a conservative. And instead of admitting that they are liberal, they now want to be called "progressive" which, given the history of that movement through the 1920's and the 1930's, is WAY worse.

And then we see the great liberal strawman of the token representative. "MSNBC can't be concidered liberal because we have the Joe Scarborough show 'Morning Joe', so that innoculates them from the charge. PLEASE!!!!

OK, they have Joe Scarborough on the "right" (really he's in the middle) and Pat Buchannan is a contributor to that show.

But they then have Chris Matthews, Keith Olberman, Rachel Maddow, David Shuster, Contessa Brewer, etc. They are all VERY left of center.

So, to re-cap and help the "smart thinker" with some simple math...  1 slightly conservative host in a lineup of at least 5 liberal hosts means that the station is 5-1 on the liberal side. But even beyond that issue. It's the stories that MSNBC covers and the way that they cover them that makes them a liberal network. Also keep in mind that Joe is offset by Mika on his show. Who offsets Rachel, or Keith, or Chris on theirs?

Hey, I got the wrong "CHANGE"!

"I'm a smart thinker. Not

"I'm a smart thinker. Not like everybody says... like dumb... I'm smart and I want respect!"

BTW, Brewer, "progressive" is NOT the label we'd rather use to describe you.

'Progressive' = Socialism

Until I see a current definition of 'progressive' as it applies to democratics, I have to assume that it is a code word for 'socialist'. Note that the Congressional Progressive Caucus used to be called the Demomcratic Socialists of America, or DSA. I suggest that they renamed it to get away from the word socialist.
