ACORN, HuffPo Organizing Efforts to Infiltrate Tax Day Tea Parties to Shape Media Coverage

Acts of protest tend to be synonymous with the left and are usually considered unsurprising on the right. However, when conservatives demonstrate - liberals take notice in a big way.

On Fox News Channel's April 7 "Your World," host Neil Cavuto reported that the Tax Day tea party protests on April 15 will be "infiltrated" by their political opponents and led by left-wing activist organizations. He specifically named Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN).

"Only eight days before a nationwide tea party, some over-caffeinated crashers aiming to lay waste to it," Cavuto said. "Reports of very well-organized infiltrators trying to mix in and rain on this parade. Talk about taxing."

One organizer, Mark Meckler of the Sacramento Tea Party, dismissed the counter efforts and said they were to be expected.

"We don't take them seriously at all, and I'll tell you why," "It's not that they don't exist - we expect people to attempt to infiltrate," Meckler said. "We expect people to attempt to disturb what we are doing, but the reality is that this is a very broad-based grassroots movement. There is no leader at the top. There is no individual event that they can disturb that would cause us a problem nationwide."

Meckler explained that everyone was invited - even if they come to promote a philosophy that runs counter to what the tea party movement is attempting to convey.

"So also, the people - we trust the grassroots," Meckler continued. "We know, the people are skeptical of anyone approaching at these events, and we believe that people are going to handle it well. And in fact, we invite everybody to come to our events. We don't care if they are from ACORN, The Huffington Post or the Daily Kos. We want them all there. We're excited to have them attend."

In fact, The Huffington Post has even set up a Web site for so-called citizen journalists to infiltrate the protests.

"The Huffington Post wants to have citizen journalists at as many of these events as possible," Arthur Delaney wrote for The Huffington Post on April 7. "If you think you'd be interested in attending one of the Tea Parties and reporting back to us with dispatches, photos, or video, click here to sign up. We'll contact you shortly with further instructions."

If you sign-up, you receive an automated message from Matthew Palevsky, the Huffington Post's associate editor of citizen journalism.

"Thanks for becoming a Tea Party Reporter," the e-mail from Palevsky says. "This e-mail is just a quick confirmation that we have received your contact info and will email you our plans during the coming week. In the meantime, we'd love to hear your thoughts. Whether they be questions, suggestions or story ideas, share them with us at submissions+ideas@ huffingtonpost.com."

John O'Hara, organizer of the Chicago Tea Party said he wasn't worried either about these sorts of efforts and specifically named ACORN, calling them out of touch with mainstream America.

"Neil, I'm not worried about it at all," O'Hara said. "This is a genuine grassroots movement. If ACORN wants to send some of their paid, pretend activists to show up - that's fine. They don't have a message that resonates with the American people or resonates with this broad coalition that's upset with this spending that's going on in Washington."

Cavuto explained the early reports of the "so-called infiltration plan" were an attempt to make it look like fringe-group efforts and in some case appears as a "racist undertaking."

"The people understand what these movements are about," Meckler said. "The people who are involved understand that they're not racist. They are not fringe. They're not even partisan. I mean, these are events where we have people across the board - Democrats, Republicans, conservatives, liberals, Libertarians - you name it."

The Obama Brown Shirts

The Obama Brown Shirts begin to apply their thuggery to politics in an underhanded way and the media is just waiting to do their part in marginalizing and destroying any dissent.

These tea party organizers must truly be political neophytes because they sure sound sanguine and naive about the tactics these political thugs will employ.

The "Mainstream" Media: By liberals. For liberals.

And you pay for it

The ACORN goons just got a few billion dollars from the Bamster's porkulus bill and the Omnibus Bill. Of course they will be there, and this is what they do and we pay them for it. We will be paying for the protesters that will be sent to disrupt our protest. Welcome to the Bamster's country.

And I'll start taking bets

And I'll start taking bets now on whose side the media coverage will emphasize....

They might say "Wow, that sucks!"  But at least they'll say "Wow!"  -Duff Goldman, the Ace of Cakes

Make ACORN blow their dough..

Let's make the protests/Tea Parties more regular and massive so ACORN has to blow all the money Obama stole for them - bussing all over the country trying in vain to stop us.

Remember the Black Panthers standing at the voting stations trying to bully people into voting for Obama?  Only to flee in terror from someone with a camera who started 'documenting' their thuggery?

These vermin squirm and screech against real media exposure, cringing from it in horror like Dracula from a crucifix.  What will they do?  Say the Klan organized the tea party?  Say that right-wing kooks are trying to 'block black voters' from attending the tea parties?

They won't send Barney Frank - the guy has thinner skin than a balloon - he blows up even when being questioned by a STUDENT for cryin' out loud....

ACORN has us tax-payers

ACORN has us tax-payers supporting them and the Justice Dept. working for them via Holder via O via Soros and ilk.

By the way...speaking of ACORN...did anybody just watch the Dobb's segment with Sharpton along with the other lying witch from ACORN on their call for Arpio to step down?

You want to see red...watch it later...or check it out on CNNs site.

Maddening...they are after him and anybody that dares to interfere with them and O's agenda ....this country is in such big trouble with the control that is in place...you can be sure they are going to try to persecute and prosecute people who attend the Tea Parties...they are also trying to lessen attendance.

Btw... If and when we go

Btw...

If and when we go to a rally, hopefully the fourth of July is possible...

I'm going to make a poster of some kind that says we are sick of being forced to pay for ACORN, the UN and all the rest of the enemy within groups.

I'm really mad right now after and still watching Dobbs show on this subject...I have been anyway..this is just taking the cake.

I WANT MY COUNTRY BACK...before it is far too late!

Sorry for the rant.

bt,I sort of wish that

bt,

I sort of wish that Sean Hannity hadn't latched onto this tea party movement to the point of doing his show from Atlanta on the 15th. Even though he is perfectly within his rights, I'm afraid his strident Republican partisanship will give ammo to the opposition of the media and Obama thugs. Plus, I'm afraid he will "glitz" up this simple grassroots event and movement. Now, I hear that Newt Gingrich is horning in. This movement should be allowed to grow naturally and steadily from it's "regular people" beginnings. To celebritize and partisan politicize it now will be like putting a saddle on a poodle - you know what I mean?

Chris....

I know what you mean... ...and ACORN is really going to attempt to make this racist...trust me...use intimidation too, the JD is hand in hand with them. (I said long ago this JD is to be feared the likes of which we have never seen)

I just watched enough for me to be sure.

Btw...it's Gingrich's MO anymore...he always horns in after a fact is popular...he needs to be relevant at all times.

bt, You know the media is

bt,

You know the media is just waiting to declare the protesters to be nothing more than Republican dupes. Well, more like "knuckle dragging, racist, sexist, neanderthalic dupes". I shudder to think what the media will do with the information that Hannity, Gingrich, and other well-known Republican figures and politicians are going to show up.

The "Mainstream" Media: By liberals. For liberals.

→ Chris

I understand what you're saying about Hannity.  I like the guy, but he doesn't quite fit the picture of "grass roots"

On the other hand, Ted Nugent playing the Star Spangled Banner, and Glenn Beck, at the Alamo, seems to have a folksy feel to it.

Ice down the Lone Star.  Not very good beer, but I'll put up with it for a day.

Cool Arrow,

I suppose if it's to be a "party", it should have some entertainment - although, I don't think the original tea party in Boston harbor was entertained by "Paul Revere and the Raiders" :).

It's just that I liked the idea of this being a strong, yet simple, movement run by everyday people, without all the big boy muckety mucks horning in on it.

Didn't "Silversmith" sing "Fresh Air"?

It has been postulated Paul Revere wouldn't be near so famous had he not been immortalized by Longfellow in verse.

Billy Dawes completed his midnight ride, while Revere got captured, I think.

But one of Longfellows ancestors served with Revere, so his name rose from the ashes of history.

Oh, man - memory lane. Your teacher's take on it sounds about right. In our day, young kids were still taught cherished historical myths and these weren't destroyed until around 12th grade - and I think I liked it better then. Now, I won't go joking about Sopwith Camel playing "Snoopy and the Red Baron" on the first Armistice Day. .. :)

But I believe it was "The Royal Guardsmen" who did Snoopy vs Red Baron, while Sopwith Camel's lone hit was "Hello, Hello"

They should have left it a grass-roots "from the ground up" phenomenon. Now they can make it seem like "mind-numbed robots" taking orders from conservative talk show hosts.

Con-Dems Welcome Too

I will be interested to see if any conservative democratics show up at Tea Party protests to join in and take a lead in their respective city or state. The door is open, will anyone dare take the opportunity? If they do, I am sure someone like Hannity or Beck would welcome them.

I don't quite get the

I don't quite get the concept of "conservative Democrats" any more than I get the concept of "liberal Republicans" - you'd think, especially in this day and age, they would have sorted this out by now...

The "Mainstream" Media: By liberals. For liberals.

I strongly disagree

Cool Arrow: I strongly disagree with you and Glenn Beck on this one. WHY should we be ashamed of partisonship? That's what we are. Once again, we Conservatives think we have to bring a fly swatter to a gunfight. That's what got us Bob Dole, John McCain and by default, Chairman Obama.

If the Tea Parties had Jane Fonda as their keynote speaker, the MSM would still characterize them as right wingnut knuckle draggers. They would piss on us if we were burning flags, flashing the black power fist and wearing diapers on our heads.

That's who they are.

I don't think it's about

I don't think it's about the party of the participants, but the wrong impression that the tea parties are planned and sponsored by the top on down. It isn't that at all, but it could look like that with some politicians glomming on. It will destroy the effectiveness of the whole thing.

The "Mainstream" Media: By liberals. For liberals.

BT... I remember Obama

BT... I remember Obama speaking to ACORN people during his campaign saying that one of the first things he would do if elected is to give ACORN access to the White House. He sure is doing it by having them do his dirty work, i.e., infiltrating the Tea Parties and disrupting them. Shades of the 1930's.

No citizen's right to life, liberty, pursuit of happiness, or property is safe as long as Obama is President of the United States.

The Left Are Not Fans of Free Speech

The trouble with the left is that they can only stomach their own opinions. They are not fans of free speech. They also would like to taunt us in to behaving as viciously as they do at the Tea Parties. They must behave viciously because they do not have well thought out positions and have no real belief in anything and they resent those that do.
ACORN is a sorry lot of manipulated people. They are not innocent however. They, and they alone, allowed themselves to be manipulated. But they are to be pitied. Obama and the Democrats thinks these folks are stupid. And he knows how to use them.
That is one of the differences between Conservatives and Liberals. Liberals have no respect for anyone and think certain groups must be controlled.
Recover Constitutional Jefferson Republicanism

HMMMMMMMMM

I hope the organisers ubderstand that when they they go to the Tea Parties they need to bring along some Tar and Feathers also for the ACORN and Leftie nutcases.

Perhaps a bit of "reeducation" is . . .

. . . called for, prior to their forcible and decisive ejection and/or tar-and-feathering?

Personally, I think they've no idea of how badly they'd be barking up the wrong tree if they try to screw up things.

But, then, they'll likely find out if they don't behave, don't you think?

Just wait and see.The media

Just wait and see.The media will be out at the tea parties talking to the folk's.Then they will go back to their news vans and edit out the real story of why we had this gathering. They will show the acorn implant's as one of the regular folk's except they will be bitching about wall st. not the REAL ONE'S THAT CAUSED THIS, dodd, frank, obamy, hell all of the freaks.

EE IS

And if any of these fake protesters show up in Morristown, we'll point out to the cops that they are a seperate group WITH NO MEETING PERMIT.

LOL!

Do like me . . .

. . . go sign up to help.  That way you will know their "instructions" and can pass them out to everyone at your local tea party.  It will be fun to know what to look for and take pics/video of these folks to post for all the world to see their antics.

  That would make you

That would make you something like a double counter secret agent or something, wouldn't it?  Infiltrating them as they are trying to infiltrate us?  It could get confusing if you aren't careful.

This will be the perfect time for those "infiltrators" to get...

. . . the a** kicking they so richly deserve.

Media Coverage

You know that any media coverage of the tea parties will make the events look horrible. They will find the people who aren't well-spoken and look like rednecks, especially here in Atlanta. Then all of these events will be portrayed as nothing more than a glorified Klan rallies.

I really wouldn't be surprised if the leftist goons will show up and started fights to try to make the tea parties look like violent anti-government rallies.  And we all know that a camera will be "conveniently" in place to film such incidents.

I say if you see or hear any

I say if you see or hear any acorn asses just go over to a cop and tell them that you saw then with a gun under their coat. Be nice to see some of those asswipes face down in the dirt getting strip searched.

I think that part of it is

I think that part of it is intimidation. I have been talking it up on the local paper, and blog sites around here. I had a woman talking into coming with her kids, now she tells me she is afraid that their might be violence with ACORN showing up.

I somewhat agree with you about this needs to be non-partisan.Bush and the Republicans spent money like drunk sailors. That stupidly keeps them from standing on the high ground and saying: Cut back on the spending. Now with the tracks greased there is no stopping the Obama express right off the cliff.

One good part is, the average politician will look at the numbers and start to think they are on the wrong side of the argument. THEY ARE.

I will be at a teaparty.  I suppose these ACORN nuts think we are all a part of Ghandi's movement or something.  That we will let them bash us around and just lay there and take it.  Not gonna happen.

To the best of my knowledge, me, or none of my buddies roll that way, and we will all be there.  But you know what? This sure is a free country and damn near anyone can do damn near anything they want.  But what you give, you've got to expect to get. So, have a nice protest.  See you there.

Counting on the NASCAR Nation

Speaking as the son  of a plumber,I'm counting on the NASCAR nation to show up at these tea parties and make the  point. The point is that this out of control spending BS is wrong and has got to stop now! I think that NASCAR folks are the only real people that we have left in this country. The left coast and the Northeast are lost to liberals forever. Its up to the sons and daughters of plumbers bus drivers and the rest of us common folks to speak up

I'm on the left coast and I have watched Nancy 'the San Francisco treat"Pelosi's entire career from day one. From her early days on the SF board of sups to today she has been a wild eyed liberal and  IMO she is the most dangerous politician in America today. Living in the SF Bay area I am disenfranchised. But you can bet your last dollar I will be in Sacramento with Neil Cavuto in April 15 in the middle of that Tea Party. The left will do what they do its up to the rest of us to soldier on.

Yeah, we need a bunch of

Yeah, we need a bunch of rednecks at the tea parties so the media can interview them and make a mockery of them and teh events. I really don't get the whole Nascar nation thing. I HATE Nascar, so does that make me a liberal or not real?

I live in Utah (very red state), but I'll be attending my Tea Party in Salt Lake City.

Just a few observations:

It really is sad that we have folks on our side coming out and vomiting this negative drivel on these Tea Parties with gripes like: They're not going to do any good!, The media will not accurately report what's going on!, ACORN will stir up race problems! etc. Who gives a rats A$$ about the MSM?!?! Do we really expect anything less from these slimeballs? Come on folks, get real, that's why we have a NewsBusters!

As far as ACORN goes, let these goons come out...it'll give them at a good look at pi$$ed off conservatives! I don't fear these malcontents!

Folks, these Tea Parties caught on for a reason. They're a way for average Americans to--at least publicly-- give voice to their outrage about what this Democrat controlled government is doing to our country! Will it do any good? Who knows, but at least people are trying to do the right thing until the next election. Do we really need conservative nay-sayers right now? NO!!

These same people on our side who are complaining about these Tea Parties, are probably the same ones who bitch that "nobody is doing anything!!"

To read and listen to some people, you'd think we should all just grab our ankles and say thank you! Sorry, but I'm not giving up to the likes of Comrade Obama, Barney Frank and the other Socialists in our government!

Go to your states Tea Party on April 15th!

Just my rant for the evening ;-)

Sven

I also want to comment on another benefit of the tea parties.  I went to one about a month ago, and before I went I was very upset and feeling powerless and alone (politically)  Going to the tea party was the best thing I could do at that time for ME.  It was wonderful to see so many like-minded people and to enjoy the freedom of expression that our country still (so far) allows us.  Almost every car that drove past us as we waved our flags and held up our signs either honked and smiled or gave us the 'thumbs up'.  It made me realize that even though we are somewhat powerless politically right now, we are not alone, and so many voices will not be ignored.  It gave me hope.  Just enough to get through for awhile.  So even if the MSM ignores them (they won't eventually) and even if they are mischaracterized as something they aren't (that very likely will happen) they are still valuable for what they do for the individuals who attend them.  I recommend everyone go to as many as you can go to.  Get involved, show you care.  If not to be seen, just to be involved in the effort.

Sherylsims

Your assessment was spot on!

I believe multitudes (including myself) feel exactly the way you did about feeling alone politically. Lets face it, we have no substantive conservative leadership in the House or Senate. That's why these Tea Parties are so absolutely valuable and essential. They weren't created by some politician, they were created by regular Americans in the face of this great injustice currently taking place.

You astutely pointed out:

So even if the MSM ignores them (they won't eventually) and even if they are mischaracterized as something they aren't (that very likely will happen) they are still valuable for what they do for the individuals who attend them. AMEN!!

Even Rush commented today that ACORN WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO STOP OR RUIN THESE PROTESTS!!

I'm glad you took time to share your experience from your Tea Party. I'm going on the April 15th and I can't wait!!

Oh, and for those who think we need the MSM to help get our message across...well, we haven't had their help yet and these Tea Parties are growing like a weed!! Screw the MSM (not FOX). :-)

God Bless all you folks

God Bless all you folks organizing and going to these tea parties, but I think that the deck is stacked way in the Communists' favor.

If one guy goes berserk, has a public official hanging in effigy, whatever, be it a Commie or a real protester, you can bet it'll be on the AP wires lickety-split.  Hang a GI in effigy (and burn it of course), piss on the Flag, or the like and you're OK.

Ultimately, we have to sit around and wait and hope that enough voters will wise up and start voting these Leftists out of office.

But, at least they see cause for concern, and that's something.

One of the 34% who thinks George W. Bush was a great President. One of the 61% who wants to bring back the stock and pillory (yep...approval for Congress now at 39%...do you believe that!?).

Yes! Bring them on!

Let the cameras roll...and absoultely represent. One thing about these Communists, they stick out like a sore thumb; they won't be hard to spot!
