Gibbs on Cramer’s 'Daily Show' Dismal Performance: 'I Enjoyed It Thoroughly'

Photo of Jeff Poor.

What's a little salt on the wound after a seemingly humiliating performance by CNBC "Mad Money" host Jim Cramer on Comedy Central's March 12 "The Daily Show?" At least that's the way White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs acted when he took the opportunity to comment on last night's "Daily Show" during his March 13 press briefing.

Gibbs was asked what he thought of the interview, where "Daily Show" host Jon Stewart called CNBC "disingenuous at best and criminal at worst." Gibbs apparently appreciated Stewart's hyperbolic attacks on CNBC and Cramer.

"The president and I talked earlier in the day yesterday about watching it," Gibbs said. "I forgot to e-mail him to remind him it was on, so I don't know if he's seen it. I enjoyed it thoroughly."

Gibbs praised "The Daily Show" host for handling an "uncomfortable" situation and took a jab at CNBC's decision not to post it on CNBC.com.

"Despite, even as Mr. Stewart said, it may have been uncomfortable to conduct and uncomfortable to watch - I thought it was, I thought somebody asked a lot of tough questions and I am not surprised that the video of Mr. Cramer's appearance doesn't appear on CNBC's Web site today."

The interview was the end of a week-long feud began when CNBC reporter Rick Santelli canceled his scheduled appearance on the March 5 "The Daily Show," which led to a scathing attack on the entire CNBC network, and Cramer taking a few jabs in return.

Doesn't this man

have anything better to do like oh I don't know....BRIEF US ON WHAT'S GOING ON IN THE WH????????

Gibbs was giving us another glimpse into The White House

have anything better to do like oh I don't know....BRIEF US ON WHAT'S GOING ON IN THE WH????????

I think he was briefing us what goes on in the White House ... I think they have a staff of folks that watch for anything slamming the "One" and then they retaliate ....Stewart's slam of Cramer was just a part of that strategy.

"America is on the Short Bus to Socialism"

Dark.. the last thing that

Dark.. the last thing that Gibbs, the only living human-toad hybrid known to exist, wants to talk about is about what's really going on in the White House.

He's paid to lie, dissassemble, obfuscate, mock those who question his boss and play the part of a complete loser.

The Government cannot give to anybody anything which the government does not first take from somebody else. Dr. Adrian Rogers

WRONG!!!!!

"...play the part of a complete loser."

Celator, gibbs isn't playing a loser, he and his boss ARE losers.

Doughboy Gibbs only likes tough questions...

...when they are used to bludgeon Obama critics. Not so much when they are posed to "The One", which was Cramer's sin.

The Doughboy's hypocrisy on display.

Tee Hee Oxy...

We're now seeing the proverbial "bite the hand that feeds you". Wonder how many more will be be thrown under the Greyhoud wheels?

Which "news correspondent"

Which "news correspondent" actually asked about this? Why is the POTUS concerned with Jon Stewart? Is he that concerned with appearing young hip & cool?

Maybe Jon Stewart will replace Katie Couric soon...

he might as well

there's no difference between the shows. One is comically slanted liberal news that pretends to be serious... and the other is slanted liberal news that pretends to be comedy.

Ha! Good one!

Ha! Good one!

it worked for Stalin and Mao...

NBC"News", NSNBC:'The Place for Propaganda', CNBC... will soon be air-brushing their various talkingheads, blowhards, gasbags out of 'negative' stories

These people love to attack

These people love to attack private citizens and it the same old story just like the Clinton Admin. did in the 90's..So much for that "CHANGE" stuff........

Just more of the 'SAME-OLD' 'SAME-OLD'

Gibbs the Clown

Gibbs is a no-class clown like his execrable boss Captain Cowpatty. Lack of class seems to come with membership in the democratic party.

sw - Gibbs doesn't hold a candle to his immediate

predecessors...Dana came though with flying colors after Tony had to leave.  What a pleasure it was to witness PROFESSIONALISM!

Gibbs looks like and sounds like a junior high kid!  Come to think about it, that is what I think about Geithner, too!!!  The whole bunch of them are Clinton re-treads and none of them ever acted in a professional manner then - and certainly are not doing so now!!  No respect from these quarters!

It is no dishonor to be in a minority in the cause of liberty and virtue. ~ Sam Adams

THE THIN SKIN ADMIN

It's scary to see how aware and think-skinned Obama and his administration are??? What the heck is going on?  Why are they attacking private citizens like Cramer and Rush etc. It's weird.  How about being professional and remain above the fray.

R - I'm still waiting for the braveheart who mentions

'the one's' e a r s ;~)  Thin-skinned, indeed!  Wonder how they figured it was all right to bash President Bush but not the current prez?

Stewart never refuted

Stewart never refuted Cramer's statement about Obama destroying the wealth of the American people; all he did was to try to smear Cramer with some stuff he said on another topic.  Stewart has no knowledge of the subject, btw.

Was Reagan destroying wealth

Was Reagan destroying wealth when he had the tax rate for the rich at 50% for the majority of his two terms?

Um

Didn't Reagan lower the uppermost bracket to 28%?

You're irrational if you don't want the new president to succeed - Gingrich

Only toward the end of his

Only toward the end of his second term. The majority of most of his presidency, the tax rate was 50%.

Well

You know it would be incredibly cynical to paint the tax reform as anything but an achievement. Yea, it took him most of his two terms to get it done, but he did get it done. That was his goal. Clinton's was health care. What happened with that?

You're irrational if you don't want the new president to succeed - Gingrich

Note to Jon Stewart

Note to Jon Stewart (quoting same):

IT'S A FAKE NEWS SHOW!!!!

So don't be surprised when CNBC treats it as such.

I didn't think it was physically possible, but this both sucks and blows. -Bart Simpson

He actually comically

He actually comically responded to the attention TDS got from Cramer and Joe Scarborough.

Cramer is a Democrat...and Obama supporter

just like Joe Lieberman...well, the democrat part (oh, until McSame lost...now his colors change)

Joe is back in the good graces of the liberals now (after being thrown under the bus and then having sand kicked in his face).  and so will Cramer be shortly.  He'll kiss the ring and all will be peaches and cream once again for the socialists....it'll then be hailed as a bi partisan effort and an example of how Obama brings people together.  (nevermind all parties are democrats)

Liberalism is a scurge dressed up a savior.  Dont say we didnt tell you...

Tough Questions

Something palpably ironic and hypocritical about BHO's mouthpiece reveling in OTHER people getting asked tough questions.

And again, why is Gibbs sending such insignificant emails to the POTUS?  Doesn't he have an economic crisis to worry about?

Oh, I'm sorry, didn't he say he had OTHER things BESIDES the economic crisis to worry about?

Maybe this was it.

Kramer allowed Stewart to make HIM the focal point

He shouldn't have.

The reason this mini-feud happened to begin with?  Not because of Kramer's history of good/bad stock picks.  Not because of the flamboyant nature of Kramer and his show.

Stewart attacked Kramer because Kramer dared to criticize The Chosen One.

And Kramer should have thrown that in Stewart's face right at the get go - Make Stewart explain himself and defend what Obama is doing.

Every time Stewart brought up Kramer's show, Kramer should have simply directed the discussion towards how Obama is spending trillions of our dollars on social engineering.  Or asked Stewart the question, "Hey, Jon. You just spent eight years bashing Bush.  Now you're doing nothing but bashing Obama's critics.  What's up with that?"

Fair is fair then

If Jon Stewart thinks he is so tough, then why doesn't he go on Fox News. I bet Bill O'reilly, Glenn Beck, or Sean Hannity can ask him some tough questions. But, I have a funny feeling isn’t man enough.  It is so easy to attack someone when you have a legion of writers coming up with questions. I don’t think he would look as funny with O’reilly shouting at him.

http://franklinslocke.blogspot.com/

I just posted on another thread about this topic..

..that Mark Levin in a one-on-one debate with Jon would utterly destroy him in five minutes on every topic and Jon wouldn't have his dumb studio audience or commerical breaks to hide behind.

"...and I am not surprised

"...and I am not surprised that the video of Mr. Cramer's appearance doesn't appear on CNBC's Web site today."

Gibb's tries to make it sound like a non-chalant recitation of the fact that the video is not on CNBC's site but the fact is Gibb's was well prepped for the question to the point of having emailed the Prez about the upcoming interview, watching the interview itself, and then knowing the fact (as he claims at least) that the interview wasn't on CNBC's site. Thus I would love to know what reporter asked the question to see if their is any underlying reason for such a convenient question to be asked.

As to the video being posted well it surely is to be found on the website of the network that produces the show - Comedy Central - so to claim that CNBC didn't go through the process of getting permission to place the video on their own site is simply disingenious. Just because a network personality is interviewed on another doesn't mean the said network personality's own network automatically has shared rights to the segment.

With the adolescents in control

This is what we get, the occupant of the White House who doesn't know sh*t from shinola, a vice president who is a nonstop gaffe machine a press secretary that comments on comedy shows and is as dumb as a box of rocks, a treasury secretary(aka tax cheat) who can't even use Turbo Tax software, a secretary of state that is a laughing stock, and a head of the CIA with no intelligence and/or experience.

Basically an entire administration that is inept, incompetent and an embarassment to the entire world.

THE "O" HAS GOT TO GO!

You boiled that down nicely, Tom!

Obama's boy Steward took

Obama's boy Steward took care of one of Obama's critic.I saw that part of the Steward show where Cramer kowtowed to Steward. So no surprise the Gibbs is crowing like a chicken in a hen house. He lays a egg most of the time but this gave him something to say that fed his self importance.Say one thing for Obama he has his squech squad working.Anytime someone is critical of Obama's his lapdogs attack.Steward and the rest of those Obama nuzzleing lapdogs attack those that voice dissent  against the chosen one.I wonder if Obama will give Steward a bone?

lol aint that the truth.

Another instance of

Another instance of lowering the office of the President, nice.

First it was Obama himself attacking Rush, now Gibbs is enjoying the misery of a targeted citizen. Nice, you just keep abusing that power. Pretty soon people and gonna bring torches and pitchforks against this extravagant and vindictive administration. 2010 can't come soon enough, and neither can 2012. GAME ON!

I'm not just saying this as wishful thinking...

..but the way this Adminstration has tried to go so far left so quickly and will continue to do so in a bad economy with a total incompetant at the wheel, that the (D)s are setting themselves up for total wipeout or at least big losses in the 2010 midterms.

Can't you see Katie Couric's tears and make up running down her face as she reports that Queen Pelosi is no longer in charge of Congress? Or Harry Reid lost his seat and is now unemployed? I'm getting giddy just thinking about it.

Can't you see what the cover of Newsweek and Time will be?: "2010 Republican comeback....What Happened to Obama and What Will The Messiah Do Now?

JN - in 2010 IMHO, there will be NO Time/Newsweek mags!

I, too, envision massive (D) losses in 2010.  It's hard to believe they are so drunk with 'their win' that they think Americans are going to sit idly by as they destroy our country!!!  There might not be much we can do, but I think our phone calls re: immigration helped stop that one - and I'm ready to do whatever is necessary!

how completely and totally

UNPROFESSIONAL!

oh my god, children are running this country.

It must take a huge

It must take a huge imagination to see what this has to do with "liberal" bias.

Who are you quoting? This is a site for Adults.

Liberal is a common word whose definition is generally accepted by all in the english speaking world. It is found in a dictionary.

From wikipedia -

Quotation marks are also used to indicate that the writer realizes that a word is not being used in its current commonly-accepted sense.

So you think this word is somehow being used in uncommon way?

Liberal is liberal is liberal is liberal.

Ragamuffin however is idiot.

This coup has gone on long enough. The time to put it down is NOW.

Gibb's knows he is a very funny man.

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs’ insolent daily briefings are a window into the Obama Administration’s contempt for critics. Our petulant punk prevaricator-in-chief is not to be questioned by infidel non-believers.

I Just Have To Ask

Is Gibbs not the prissiest little girl on TV next to Matthews?

A nation cannot be free without a free, unbiased media. We are not free.

Anyone else think Gibbs

Anyone else think Gibbs looks just like the corpulent, sniggering white boy who sucks up to street corner gangstas?

A nation cannot be free without a free, unbiased media. We are not free.

 Yes Roger I fully agree

Yes Roger I fully agree with you, sooner or later Gibbs will make an ass of himself and get smacked down.

Roger from SD.. yes, he

Roger from SD.. yes, he does and he also likes to hang out with radical, leftist community agitators with delusions of grandeur.

I don't know why

But Gibbs looks like the manager of a Burger King.

You're irrational if you don't want the new president to succeed - Gingrich

All this shows is that

All this shows is that Gibbs is as elitist as his master is.   We all saw this coming.  Critize "The One" expect to get an audit, or insulted, in the least. Or, generally roughed up by his minions.

But one day, one day, they are going to go after the wrong person.  Bully's always get theirs, and this cadre has it coming.  So let them stay this course they are on.  It's a course leading to destruction. And no amount of "fake news" is going to get them through it.

I am a MAC and I am a PC

Everytime I see Robert Gibbs, he reminds me of PC.

I can see that

Yep, I can see that.

You're irrational if you don't want the new president to succeed - Gingrich

And . . .

. . . there is just something so wrong with this, and stays wrong with it every time they do it.  They are supposed to be serious!  And running the country!

And we get this nonsense instead.  Junior high school bashing of the people they don't like.

I was surprised to learn

that this guy is only 37 years old.  He looks so much older.

Mission Not Accomplished

In that same WH press briefing yesterday, propagandist and chief, Bobby Gibbs took another swipe at Bush.

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said Friday that despite
seeing some “glimmers of hope,” an economic recovery is far from a
mission accomplished.

Gibbs told reporters that the economy is starting to recover but there is still a long way to go.

“You know, it's important to stress that we've unfurled no
‘mission accomplished’ banners,” Gibbs said. “And I think any
suggestion of that would be quite premature.”

Enjoyed it throughly?

That sounds like he masterbated to it

"There is not in all America a more dangerous trait than the deification of mere smartness unaccompanied by any sense of moral responsibility."

Classless at best

"The president and I talked earlier in the day yesterday about watching
it," Gibbs said. "I forgot to e-mail him to remind him it was on, so I
don't know if he's seen it. I enjoyed it thoroughly."

This is scary stuff, the thinned skinned CiC keeping up with his critics. They have secret meetings with the press to establish a plan of attack. Who would be shocked to learn they even consulted with Stewart before this interview? Stewart doesn't want to talk about the Presidents policies,,no cant have that. They are sending the message out loud and clear, criticize the President and we will do everything in our lawful power to ruin you. And who thinks they will not try to change the laws to make it more difficult for the critics?

Holding out on some hope for Cramer

OK, so Cramer went and debased himself on the Jon Stewart show so he could cut his losses, stop the bashing, (for a while anyways), and maybe get a little boost in his ratings.  His expertise is how the markets work, not how to play the MSM network game.

But there is no way that this experience will not bother Cramer.  He has to be furious at the way he is being thrown under the bus because he dared to question some policy decisions of his beloved Democrats.  Hopefully this will be his wake up call, he will realize in time that the short-term profit gained by this debasement at the hands of Jon Daily was the wrong way to go.

It's not too late to learn the errors in his politcal ways, even in his 60s.

"When will Barack Obama apologize to the American people for destroying their once great nation?" - MSM 2012

FOX on Cramer

Kiran Chetry made mention of the blasphemous CNBC tagline; In Cramer We Trust

How soon doth fall cometh after pride?

Obama is succeeding and it hurts

Re hope for Cramer

I'm not an optimist on Cramer. Even as the tires of the bus are crunching his ribs, he proclaims his support for Carbon Cap and Trade. That means his liberalism is too deep in his bones to ever be exorcised. If he is not a hardcore believer in the religion of AGW, then he hasn't seriously looked at the implications of CC&T, and either way he's beyond hope.

The only value of Cramer is to point out the childishness and thin skin of the Maximum Doofus and his cabal of old-fashioned Chicago thugs.

Goaded in.......................

I think someone in the democratic paty saw an opportunity to have a probable semi-innocent party, like Jon Stewart, to goad Cramer onto a sit down. Thinking this was going to be a funny way to hash out there differences, Cramer accepted. But not fully knowing that the democratic party had set him up to be gobbled up in a whirlwind of attack questions, he went into the mouth of the lion , a (democratic party) setup. This was a underhanded way of whipping Cramer, publicly, for flipping on his opinion of the policies of the Messiah !

Is Stewart on the Call?

I have to wonder if John Stewart is a party on the daily democratic VLWC conference call. Anyone know? Clearly the enemies list from the White House Chicago thugs is being passed out. The con call is the obvious means of distribution.

Oh, that Gibbs...what a

Oh, that Gibbs...what a card!  nyuck nyuck nyuck.
