Jim Cramer just keeps paying the price for his heresy. Ever since his March 3 remarks calling Obama's policies "greatest wealth destruction I've seen by a president," the CNBC "Mad Money" host has been under attack. First it was the back-and-forth with the White House, then he was skewered by comedian Jon Stewart. Now CNN and a former high-ranking public official have targeted him.
Cramer, who is set to appear on Comedy Central's "Daily Show" on March 12, was featured in a segment of that day's CNN "American Morning" reporting on a video he did for TheStreet.com in 2006, in which he explained how the hedge fund he once managed would manipulate stock prices.
"You know, a lot of times when I was short and I was positioned short, meaning I needed it down, I would create a level of activity beforehand that could drive the futures," Cramer said in the three year-old video. "Similarly, or if I were long, and I would want to make things a little bit rosy, I would go in and take a bunch of stocks and make sure that they're higher and maybe commit five million in capital to it and I could affect it."
CNN reporter Jim Acosta reflected on limited regulation of hedge fund's and how they attracted "wealthy investors." He then turned to former Rep. Tom Davis, R-Va., once chairman of the House Government Reform Committee, who said Cramer's the reason hedge funds should be considered for more regulation.
"I think he's become a poster child for why hedge funds need more regulation and transparency," Davis said.
When asked if what Cramer said was illegal, Davis admitted that it was not, but "should be. He may well have crossed the line."
Davis suggested the powers that be "ought to be looking at" Cramer's confessed manipulation from 2006. "I think the tragedy is over the last few years nobody's been looking at this at all."

Crammer has little sway
March 12, 2009 - 15:27 ET by 10ksnookerNobody but an idiot Obama voter would rely on a TV personality for financial advice.
And if they did, they deserve it.
What about "it's aTV show" is so hard for Democrat Obamaloons to understand.
Down goes Stewart
March 12, 2009 - 15:58 ET by exLibHopefully are the F-U comment, Cramer comes in and decks Stewart, he's had it coming for years.
He's a smug, self-important guy who talks down to everyone who doesn't agree with his view of things.
All Stewart did was help
March 12, 2009 - 16:02 ET by balboaAll Stewart did was help Cramer to look even sillier than he already is.
If you're going to investigate Cramer for stock manipulation...
March 13, 2009 - 11:07 ET by Tailgunner(alleged)...which they admit wasn't even illegal then or now, then Obama should be behind bars right next to Madoff for his deliberate and reckless tanking, every time he fires up his teleprompter, of the trust assets, retirement accounts and other investments of millions of widows and orphans.
More evidence of ruthless Democratic intimidation of critics and suppression of dissent. (And Cramer identifies as an Obama supporter!)
This is only the lead vocal; pretty soon will follow the chorus.
Watch for Nancy Pelosi, Eric Holder and the old reliable hacks in the MSM to make noises about hearings into possible (read nonexistent) violations of SEC rules involving Cramer.
Rush Limbaugh and Jim Cramer are fighters; but none can tell how many others will be intimidated into silence by vengeful liberal tyrants both in and out of office.
The Dems will probably not follow through, but their message will be clear; if you stick your neck out and criticize Obama's socialist train wreck, expect to be cut off at the knees (and perhaps other body parts).

March 12, 2009 - 18:17 ET by candanceJust like the illegal snooping on Joe the Plumber only made him look stupid. And those FBI files found in Hillary Clinton's office only made her enemies look stupid. And the White House press secretary personally criticizing people in the media make them look stupid.
There's always an excuse.
I don't know what you're
March 12, 2009 - 18:26 ET by balboaI don't know what you're talking about. I was talking about Stewart making (highly accurate) fun of Cramer. That's all.
Not really; what Stewart did
March 12, 2009 - 20:52 ET by robert108Not really; what Stewart did was to change the subject; he had no counter argument to what Cramer said about Obama destroying our wealth(which is true), so Stewart did what lefties usually do; change the subject to a personal attack on Cramer for something else. Whether or not Cramer gave good advice on another matter, he told the truth about Obama's wealth destruction. Stewart is not authority on either stock trading or economics, so all he did was some disingenuous Monday morning quarterbacking.
“The pen is more powerful than the sword.”
March 12, 2009 - 16:24 ET by Franklins_LockeSo, you disagree with Obama and they intimidate you. This is Stalinist.
Obama is playing with fire, because the media is much more powerful than he is. If he pushes this too far, more media figures will defend their own.
“The pen is more powerful than the sword.”
The last thing he needs is an irate or scared media tearing him down, because they feel threatened.

Wasn't it on 3/9 that there
March 12, 2009 - 16:58 ET by Carl KolchakWasn't it on 3/9 that there was an excerpt here about Cramer bashing the liberal media and praising Fox News. Looks like the Stock Market liked him bashing the liberal media and praising Fox News.
Keep talking Cramer, the Stock Market seems to like you bashing the liberal media.
I'm a bit unclear on your point.
March 13, 2009 - 10:51 ET by TailgunnerHow does Cramer's 'bashing the liberal media and praising Fox News' account for stock market fluctuations?
I'm not the fastest car on the racetrack so perhaps you can enlighten me on your novel and unique economic theories.

Cramer v. Stewie
March 12, 2009 - 17:31 ET by Captain KirockIn a real debate, Jim Cramer would rip Jon Stewart's heart out and take a bite out of it on camera. Stewart is a no-nothing idiot who is completely lost without his dozens of writers and a studio audience filled with his mindless worshippers.
Yes, Cramer acts like a clown and bats about .500 with his picks, but he is still more entertaining and much funnier than Stewart.
Jon Stewart is the most unfunny man on tv.
I don't give a rip about
March 12, 2009 - 17:55 ET by bigtimerI don't give a rip about what Davis has to say about this, or anything quite frankly...I detest this man, in my opinion he has been a big part of the problem of the repub losses in the past, and I'm not even going to get into his hearings in the past...where was he calling for an investigation of Barney or Dodd...let alone Rangel.
Give me a break.
I hope he always stays in the "former" column.
Wrath of the 'Anointed One"
March 12, 2009 - 18:00 ET by jdlybrandI guess Cramer is finding out what McCain should have realized a long time ago. If you dare question or criticize the 'Anointed One', you face the wrath of his army of thugs.

I find it fascinating that
March 12, 2009 - 19:24 ET by jdhawkI find it fascinating that there is not one poster that has found Cramer's utterances that he "manipulated" stock prices via his hedge fund credible. Except in the most thinly traded low priced stocks, that is just not possible. The market for securities is too fast, too liquid and too expensive to manipulate. This is just Cramer looking at his past through rose colored glasses. The fact is that he didn't just get out of the hedge fund business. He was run out of it. He failed. He was a lousy stock picker and a lousy asset manager. He is still a lousy stock picker. He has made most of his money from his ownership of the Street.com, books, and his TV program.
Meanwhile, the evening that Cramer started running down the first stupid liberal's programs he stated that he was alright with the programs. He just thought that the first stupid liberal ought to wait until the economy was in better shape to implement them.
Cramer is as liberal as the president. Make no mistake.
If you want to listen to a conservative on CNBC, listen to Kudlow. He is calling the first stupid liberal's policies war on capitalism.
jdh... Yep...Kudlow is
March 12, 2009 - 19:48 ET by bigtimerjdh...
Yep...Kudlow is the best. I agree with him 99% of the time.
Cramer is someone who I take as a big leftist joke, always have...a blow-hard for them, who doesn't know what he is talking about most times...he reminds me of a see-saw...and he is always the one who gets flipped off in the end.
I've posted about him here and there over time, he hurts the ends of my split-ends to even watch his shows or opinions in the past...I usually try to ignore the guy...he is loving this attention, that as far as I am concerned is not deserved ...as usual.

I have been hoping, waiting, that his name would come up in something since this bust on Wall Street has happened...
Heck...No such luck!
Talk about well protected...he wouldn't be where he is if he wasn't.
Dang it all anyway...he is in the same protected class msm wise anyway as Franks, Dodd, Conrad, Rangel, Geithner, Jefferson, Richardson and all the rest of the dems...just a much better one, he is running the country.
One needs to be careful if
March 12, 2009 - 23:53 ET by rbosqueOne needs to be careful if he falls off the Obama train, you just might get run over by it!
