Coulter: Double Standard for Liberal Pundits; Calls Olbermann a '57-Year-Old Woman Trapped in a Man's Body'

Being an outspoken conservative in the media has proven dicey lately, as the Democrat-controlled Congress and White House are working toward seeing an $819 billion stimulus bill signed into law.

According to Ann Coulter, there has been a double standard applied to those outspoken conservatives. Coulter appeared on the Fox News Channel's "America's Newsroom" on Jan. 30 to promote her new book, "Guilty: Liberal ‘Victims' and Their Assault on America" currently second on The New York Times Bestseller's list in only its second week.

"I think it's just another reminder of how the left hates free speech," Coulter said. "It really is strange how they go after speakers like this. I mean, there is no campaign by conservatives to shutdown Keith Olbermann. In fact, I wish more Americans would listen to him - to see the face of the left, the only 57-year-old woman trapped in a man's body to host his own TV show."

She also noted the unprecedented use by President Barack Obama of Rush Limbaugh's name to encourage congressional Republicans to vote for the stimulus proposal.

"It's revealing, telling, a little bit shocking, that the president has identified this leading practitioner of First Amendment speech and attacking him by name," Coulter said, adding that she hoped President Obama had ulterior motives.

"My Machieavellian explanation, that I wish were true, but I don't think is true - is this stimulus bill is so completely insane," Coulter said. "It will be such a disaster that Obama is hoping the Republicans will stop it somehow. And he will gin them up to oppose this stimulus bill, not make it this massive government takeover of every industry in America, because he is not going to be a successful president if this stimulus bill goes through as it's written now. And it looks like it's going to - with a majority Democrat House and Senate."

Earlier this month, Obama responded to Limbaugh's opposition to the stimulus and urged GOP members of Congress to ignore the talk show host. That prompted MoveOn.org to launch an advertisement attacking Limbaugh - asking constituents if they "were with Obama or Limbaugh" in support of the stimulus bill awaiting a vote in the U.S. Senate.

You have to read Ann carefully to understand her meaning. You can always tell the liberals never read her because they grab on and run with something out of context.

Take for example her statements about the Jersey Girls. The liberals flogged Ann over that. But if you read carefully, Ann was asking the question "Why should these women be allowed to influence US foreign policy just because their husbands died in a tragedy?"

Ann writes her zingers because she knows liberals act first on their emotions. If you can read Ann without first acting from an emotional viewpoint, you can pull a lot out of what she's saying.

I have read all of Ann's books and she has a great way of telling it like it is. I would love to see her and Olbermann, or anyone at MSNBC for that matter, go head to head. Anyone at MSNBC would definitely walk out all red faced and huffy.

One of the things they hate the most about Ann: She's smart. Actually I guess there's two, she's fearless. The new book was as good as the rest! My first favorite, however,will always remain High Crimes and Misdemeanors. I luuuvvved it when she turned the laser beam on Billy Jeff and Hill the way she did.

If you are listening to Rush today...he has been hotter than a pepper sprout...he is keeping a lot of anger contained today, if you've listened to him for years, you can tell...

I do not blame him one bit...let alone all the attacks he has taken lately everywhere, let alone the ones coming with ads ect this next week, (the MM/Soros knowing he will be gone next week, so the figure the poltical timing is perfect) has to be more than frustrating...I rarely hear him as mad as he has been today.

I am thankful for him, I seriously wished he would run for Prez, everything about his life is already out there...they are attacking him as if he is running now, O started this with his big mouth telling repubs in the Senate not to listen to Rush, which got out to all repubs, intentionally of course... not to listen to him...

Like I said then immediately here when this first came out...he picked on the wrong man top pick a fight with...and that he did.

The House vote withe the repubs was a perfect example...he did help influence that happening.

I got to listen to him for awhile before I had errands. He should be mad, certainly he is more politically astute than BO. Not to mention way more mature. Really, I can't believe BO singled him (or anyone) out. Worked well for him when the House voted for the stimulus. lol

As the guys at NewsBusters document every day, various members of the Left say outrageous things every day, and the world yawns. But when Limbaugh or Coulter say things, mild by comparison, the media calls for them to be fired, shunned, and all sorts of other (hilarious) ideas.

Olbermann, Bill Maher, etc., accuse Bush and Cheney of murder, torture, and all sorts of heinous crimes.
Limbaugh said that he wanted Obama to fail (note - that's different from saying he wants the country to fail) and the Left collapses, fanning their face to be able to breathe again.

For eight years, the Left waged war on anything Bush. They scorned him, ridiculed him, and promoted every screwy accusation against him. Yet, since Obama was elected, the Left demanded that no one oppose, or even express disagreement. Dissent was, until very recently, the highest form of patriotism; now it's to be stomped out wherever possible.

Why should I care about the opinions of people so unreflective, and so deeply stupid? I am delighted to express my opposition. I intend to go on opposing Obama and the liberals, and I'm looking to do it as loud as I can.

So let me be clear. I have my own double standard, which I follow without embarrassment. Here it is ...

When people have a track record of being reasonable and respectful to me, whether they agree with me or not, I'll listen to them. And not only will I listen, I'll actually give their criticisms the benefit of the doubt.
But when these idiots have a history of intellectual ignorance and prejudice, I won't listen to them. I don't care if they quote Ivy League professors and Nobel scientists - they cease to matter.

That's my double standard. Liars don't matter.
