Networks Hype Rising Sea Levels in One-Sided Global Warming Reports

This time, the "CBS Evening News" traveled all the way across the pond to pushing the alarmists' global warming agenda.

The March 27 "Evening News" went to the coastlines of England to show melting ice caps causing people to lose their homes.

"Much of the effects of climate change have been couched in terms of if or when its effects will be felt," CBS correspondent Mark Phillips said. "Well, here there is no ‘if.' And when is now. So choices are being made. It's called managed retreat. Some areas of coastline deemed indefensible are being abandoned. Climate change is producing winners and losers, and Diana Wrightson and the others here have already lost."

However, global warming expert Lord Christopher Monckton, a policy adviser to British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, told the Business & Media Institute blaming global warming for this is "nonsense."

"This story is nonsense from start to finish," Monckton told the Business & Media Institute. "As a result of continuing isostatic recovery following the recent end of the last Ice Age (about 9,000 years ago), the western half of the U.K. has been rising, and the eastern half has been falling."

Monckton continued, "The loss of coastal properties in eastern England, which began occurring long before we could have had any appreciable influence on the climate, has nothing to do with rising seas and everything to do with falling land. But stories like this are constantly peddled by the leftist media, who have no regard whatsoever for objective truth."

That same night, "NBC Nightly News" correspondent George Lewis took on rising sea levels, but they went all the way to Antarctica to find a source of their global warming alarmism.

Good Info.

If globalwarmingtologists say there is "global" warming, or that polar bears are dying, or that civilization will end in 10 years if we don't enact Al Gore's "final solution", or that sea levels are rising ... there's a 200% chance they're wrong.

"If the good men are silent only the wicked are heard." - Edmund Burke

A simple question

If the computer models are so good, why not we run a test. Intialize the computer models for 1979 and then predict what the climate is in 2007. I wonder why they don't want to do that? No cheating, I think some people know the answer, so don't tell others.

It could be that from the US HCN, to the Sat observations to the ARGO buoys, there is no evidence of CO2 global warming. The proof that is coming in, is that positive feedback does not exist in the Earth's climate -- Else when the temperature was much hotter than today, when the CO2 was much higher than today, the climate would have already railed. Furthermore for the last few year, the Earth is cooling and the CO2 is rising.

Everyone knows it's a hoax.

Is 1988 and 1990 close

Is 1988 and 1990 close enough? It's been done. They ued Hansen's, GISS/NASA projection in 1988 and IPCC's for 1990.

The only one that showed Hansen was right is with Hansen's adjusted data at GISS. If you let me adjust the data I can prove anything. UKMET, and the 2 satellite records RSS and UAH are off.

But in all fairness to IPCC. Every few years, they adjust their projection. They don't really give a new projection, they just adjust their original projection to agree with what really happened. Hindsight is a wonderfull thing.

The results. And

CO2 and temperture? You have to be kidding. R2 for CO2 or fossil fuel consumption and global temperture for the last 10 years is pretty much nil.

Will someone please light a

Will someone please light a match when these idiot alarmists speak so we can end this game once and for all. How can so much BS come out of such small minds.

The Great Barrier Reef

has been exposed and covered by the sea numerous times in its 500,000 year existence. Throw in the early aboriginal people of Australia as part of early global warming. <shaking head and rolling eyes at these crackpots>

"Even the GBR has seen massive changes in its comparatively short life.
Eighteen thousand years ago, the GBR did not exist as water levels were
about 100m lower than today. At that time, the Australian coast was
about 100km from its present position, and the small hills upon which
the reefs were to form dotted a broad and flat coastal plain that would
become the GBR lagoon. When the sea level started to rise at the end of
the ice age, the coast eroded at a phenomenal rate. The Aboriginal
people living on these coastal plains lost land at a rate of about 50m
each year as they witnessed the birth of one of the natural wonders of
the world"

I find it laughable that these "experts" appear to have no concept of a dynamic planet Earth. It's almost as if climatic history did not start until only 100 years ago for them.

Continents will keep moving, sea levels will always be in flux, and when the Cosmic pachinko machine sends an asteroid or two our way in the future all the carbon credits in the world aren't going to help.

Fools, everyone knows that Algore invented climatic history right after he finished the internet. Try to keep up.

Ya know,

sometimes I hope these dimwits are right. Sometimes, I hope mankind will be wiped out by high seas. Then, finally, I would be free of all of this leftist idiocy.

I agree completely with this. I recall a physical science experiment from 6th grade, which had to do with displacement of water. You put an ice cube in a glass, then filled the glass to the rim. We then had to predict whether the glass would overflow or if it would be emptier when the ice had completely melted. At the conclusion of the experiment, the level of the water was EXACTLY THE SAME, right at the rim. So how can melting ice caps raise the sea level?

Land Based Ice vs Floating Ice

The Arctic ice is floating and will not effect sea level just like the Antartic ice shelves. The land based ice of Antarctica and Greenland are what they are worried about. East Antartica is far too cold to melt and Greenland's icecap is growing in the center.

"At the conclusion of the experiment, the level

ice caps raise the sea level?"

Because when ice is melted from global warming, it develops magical properties that allow it to behave differently from ice that has been melted from regular old warming. Duh.

Suppose...

That the water is rising.

Where is it written that homeowners or even mankind in general are entitled to a static condition of the planet? Stuff happens. Deal with it.  Move to higher ground.

Think of it like tomorrows weather. It may rain. Do you feel you are entitled to government restitution for the dampness?

Obviously, so.

Florida disappearing?

Can somebody help me here? I have been trying to get someone I know who is in the Global Warming research business to do a bit of research for me, but she consistently “forgets” to do it. The first question is: When did Global Warming first start to become an alarmist issue? (I think it was in the latter half of the 80’s.) And the second question is: What were the predictions at that time of how much (i.e., what percent) of Florida was supposed to have disappeared by now?

I suspect that this is good for a chuckle.

Impunitas semper ad deteriora invitat.

Manufactured Crisis

When did Global Warming first start to become an alarmist issue?

I think it was about one day after the "we're headed for another ice age" garbage stopped.

That is what I cant

That is what I cant understand, we turned the New Ice Age around for them, and now all they do is whine that it's too hot. Geez

"Always do right. This will gratify some people, and astonish the rest". Mark Twain

Unfortunately, I

Unfortunately, I think global cooling may be more real. Mother earth does have a track record of cooling. How many ice age's. All natural.

That being said. Don't rush out and buy a new over coat.

We do seem to have 25-30 year cycles. Look at hadcut.  25-30 years warming 25-30 cooling. Almost like a watch. The present warming trend started in the late 70's. Are we in for 25-30 years cooling?

I hate to think of 25-30 years cooling. I love tropicals in my garden. But to watch the climate alarmist with egg on their faces....

These guys can't even enjoy the nice weather.

After global cooling came

After global cooling came the ozone layer, then acid rain (or was it vice versa), a massive climate change was predicted because all them South Americans were chopping down the rain forest. But I think it became an alarmist issue during the greenpeace years. Remember the rubber boat brigade trying to stop the meanie whalers. After the berlin wall came down and Marxism was discredited as a bankrupt and corrupt system all the (still) true believers became greenies and became radical eco-nuts. This movement is not a scientific movement but a leftist political one disguised as scientific. It's aim is the control of governments and people under the guise of environmental issues through propaganda and then legislation. If you notice only the left/liberals are pushing these agendas.

You know what's going to

You know what's going to really piss you guys off? Some day, when a liberal decides that global warming isn't happening, and the media hails him as the one who turned it around, not all those on the right. :-)

And it's going to have been accomplished as a result of some harmonic convergence occurring high in the Rockies with a resurrected Anasazi Shaman.

You definitely got that right.

Here is a link to a story from The Australian which was featured on a local radio program this morning. Too bad we won't hear anything about this story from the msm.

http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,23411799-7583,00.html

Melting ice is NOTHING,

Melting ice is NOTHING, people... The rivers are dumping MILLIONS of gallons of water into the oceans EVERY SECOND!!! And even more when there is a flood! If we don't stop these rivers, and stop them NOW, we are all DOOMED! Dam them up! Pump them dry! Before it is too late!

When asked if he went to war with Iraq to derail the impeachment vote: “I don’t think any serious person would believe that any President would do such a thing." - President Clinton (Dec 1998).

Not Millions ... BILLIONS

Good point ... global warmingtologists freak out about a myth, but when comes to some cold hard common sense facts like that ... I'm sure they'd say, "Who gives a rip!"

Erosion

The videos in the "news report" show a pattern of beach erosion.  That will occur naturally from wave action alone. No global warming or sea level rise is necessary.

CBS: Drowning in stupidity and ignorance

Mmmm, let's see.

Low lying East Anglia (the FLAT region of England) shares the North Sea opposite the FLAT Dutch coast line.

Now, I do understand that know-nothing liberals probably don't get the fact that Holland has been in a centuries old battle with nature to prevent the erosion of its coastline.

And so has England. For instance...

January 1953: the sea surges above the coast, flooding whole areas of East Anglia. It is the worst disaster in peacetime Britain, drowning hundreds of people and sweeping away homes and livelihoods.

I suppose it is too much to expect a MSM journalist (sic) to know that this battle began a long time before INDUSTRIALIZATION, or the miniscule amount of CO2 produced by man compared to nature.
