Gasp! Actual CNN Headline - 'Dems Block DHS Funding Bill'

CNN is clearly desperate for higher ratings when they go out of their way to appear balanced and accurate.

The network's website, CNN.com, ran an astonishing headline last night -- "Dems block DHS funding bill." Yes, you read that correctly. It was caught by Jason Howerton, a reporter at TheBlaze, who posted a story titled "The Headline for the Lead Story on CNN Website Leaves Some Wondering if 'Hell Has Frozen Over.'

In his post, Howerton linked to a story by Blaze reporter Pete Kasperowicz, who wrote --

Senate Democrats blocked legislation to fund the Department of Homeland Security for the fifth time on Monday, leaving just four days before DHS funding expires, and with no apparent way forward to break the deadlock.

Republicans have insisted that the Senate should take up the House-passed bill for weeks, but Democrats have refused because they oppose language that would defund President Obama's action on immigration.

Monday evening, the Senate voted 47-46 to move the bill ahead, but because 60 votes were needed, the majority vote wasn't enough to advance the legislation. That reflects the same lack of Democratic support as three prior roll call votes -- Democrats also blocked a unanimous consent request to get the bill earlier in the month.

After Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell last night proposed new legislation to specifically deny funding for Obama's executive order on illegals, apart from DHS appropriations, CNN ran an updated story with a new headline -- "McConnell changes tactics in DHS fight."

In other words -- McDonnell changes tactics in DHS fight with Dems threatening shutdown. The headline for the top political story at CNN as of noon today reads, "After second Democrat filibuster, GOP changes tactics before DHS shutdown."

That's odd -- I distinct recall the incessant caterwauling from liberals when Democrats controlled the Senate and Republicans allegedly lowered themselves with frequent filibusters. Now that Dems are in the minority, the filibuster is seen for what it is -- a lawful legislative tactic to be deployed as necessary, mainly when there are no other options.

Democrats can block funding for homeland security at the same time genocidal ISIS predators are rampaging through the Mideast and threatening to attack the Mall of America (not to worry, it's a gun-free zone, at least for now), smug in the knowledge that low-information voters will blame Republicans regardless of what is actually done in Congress.
