Sheila Jackson Lee Actually Compares Bush Tax Cuts to Iranian Hostage Crisis
Just think of the happy place, congresswoman, and everything will be fine.
Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, Democrat of Texas, appearing on Ed Schultz's radio show Tuesday, made one of the most ludicrous analogies in recent memory. Listen for yourself, courtesy of audio from Brian Maloney at Radio Equalizer --
We saw what happened when Iran took hostages in 1979. A president lost his re-election. The prestige of the United States was challenged. I am not going to be taken hostage again to extend the Bush tax cuts when every economist says that it's absolutely absurd forever and points to the fact that no jobs are necessarily created by extending the Bush tax cuts, at least on the top one percent of Americans, and when the top one percent population polled have said that they have no problem with losing that ludicrous benefit forever and ever. And then, when everyone understands the question of mutual sacrifice, benefit and sacrifice, with all of our soldiers coming home we're now going to talk about being held hostage to the Bush tax cuts forever.
Floating back to earth several hours later when she spoke with Schultz again on "The Ed Show," Jackson Lee apparently decided this was over the top even by Schultz's expansive "Psycho Talk" standards. Jackson Lee again referred to hostage taking, but of the reviled one percent, after initially referring to President Obama's speech in Osawatomie, Kan. (audio) --
JACKSON LEE: The president today laid out a road map and asked us, are we prepared and willing to sacrifice to get a better education, better opportunities for jobs and infrastructure, for the American people by saying to those top one percent, many of whom are in agreement but they have been taken hostage themselves ...
SCHULTZ (wearily): Yeah ...
JACKSON LEE: ... by the Republicans who use them as pawns to keep Bush tax cuts that have done nothing to create jobs but only diminish the American people's opportunity for their genius and their job opportunities to grow.
Free the one percent hostages! (Pawns, whatever!)
What next -- Jackson Lee comparing loss of jobless benefits to the sinking of the Titanic?

And, who, exactly polled all of the 1%? Would that have been you? Then she throws in soldiers in regards to tax cuts? WTF?
It's OK, Sheila, take your meds, the room will right itself in time.

“Idiot Poker” – I like it!
But - I could only make it to the 1:15 mark of Corrine Browns stately, yet extremely grating on the nerves speech before I had to turn it off.
As I’ve said in the past - as a man who doesn’t understand women’s fashion – I still have to ask the question, “Where does she buy her clothes?” (I’m guessing the local “Circus City Fashion Outlet” stores.) Good Grief! She looked like a multi colored Rorschach Test gone bad!

Sheila Jackson Lee - Every Economist - how bout Obama's own . .
Submitted by Gary Hall on Thu, 12/08/2011 - 6:51pm.
Sheila Jackson Lee - "Every Economist?" How about Obama's own economist, his Chief Chair of the President’s Council of Economic Advisers and economics professor at the University of California at Berkeley, Christina Romer.
Allow me to quote from a quick analysis of her (and her economist husband's (that makes 2, Sheila) economic study in 2010. From The Independent Institute's blog, Romer’s Research: Expiration of Bush Tax Cuts Will Be Highly Contractionary (my bold):
Christina Romer, Chair of the President’s Council of Economic Advisers and economics professor at the University of California at Berkeley, has published an article (co-authored with David Romer) in the June 2010 issue of the American Economic Review titled “The Macroeconomic Effects of Tax Changes: Estimates Based on a New Measure of Fiscal Shocks.” Unlike her statements in her role as an Obama adviser, this article is serious academic research, published in what is generally recognized as the world’s leading academic economics journal. (note to Sheila -- must be a few more "economists in the house - there!)
In the article, the Romers divide legislated tax changes into those undertaken in response to economic conditions and those that are “exogenous,” by which they mean changes made for other reasons. The expiration of the Bush tax cuts clearly falls into the “exogenous” category, because it is the result of legislation passed years ago, before anybody could have anticipated the economic conditions under which they would expire.
What the Romers found is that exogenous tax increases, such as will occur with the expiration of the Bush tax cuts, “... are highly contractionary. The effects are strongly significant, highly robust, and much larger than those obtained using broader measures of tax changes.”
Here is a strong argument, based on solid academic research, for extending the Bush tax cuts, and not letting them expire, made by one of President Obama’s top economic advisers.
What's really sad here, is that we wouldn't even expect a national anchor - say a Brian Williams of NBC, to challenge Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, by referencing the Economist Romer's own published study contradicting her shrill uneducated view, so why would the monster idiot Ed Schultz do it?
Footnote: We'll always wonder if that is why Economist Christina Romer disappeared from the Obama Administration so shortly thereafter.

There is no shortage of idiocy among modern Democrats. It is hilarious they are still referring to these "cuts" as "the Bush tax cuts," when they were renewed last fall by Democrats, who ran the whole country back then. The continued use of the "Bush tax cuts" moniker just proves this is nothing but politics at play, to help convey the class warfare nonsense to the kook base of the Democrat party.
would that be the same
