Papantonio So Unhinged By Allegations Against Cain, Even Ed Schultz Defends Him

By Jack Coleman | November 02, 2011 | 06:26

A  A

Ed Schultz used to be conservative, then jumped ship more than a decade ago and became a left winger. Yet based on his conversation Monday with attorney and radio host Mike Papantonio, Schultz's conversion appears far from complete.

The two were talking on Schultz's radio show about allegations of sexual harassment leveled against GOP candidate Herman Cain in the 1990s while he was head of the National Restaurant Association. (audio clips after page break)

Cain vehemently denies the allegations and his accusers remain conveniently anonymous, shielded from public scrutiny by their alleged victimhood.

But according to Papantonio, a lawyer who claims to have handled numerous lawsuits involving sexual harassment, Cain is guilty as charged, end of conversation, next case please.

Here's Papantonio declaring this with all the certitude of the truly clueless (audio) --

So look, it's 100 percent true, you can bet on that, it's serious and it's repetitive. Those are all things that you can count on and I gotta promise you, he's going from GOP hero to this disgusting, this disgusting old sex freak at lightning speed and the more he goes on and talks about it, the worse, the angrier women get.

Papantonio vented along the same lines for several minutes longer, prompting Schultz to rein in the man's hanging-judge impulses (audio) --

SCHULTZ: What do you think's going to happen next?

PAPANTONIO: Well, I think he's running the risk of having nullified this agreement where these women were paid off not to talk about what a creep he was and now the question becomes, don't, he's denied it! This guy's come out and flat-out denied it! And all of a sudden the first time this turns towards one of these women, this problem's going to continue to escalate ...

SCHULTZ: OK, but let's just play this out here. There is a chance that he's innocent. I mean, there is a chance that the National Restaurant Association may have made a legal determination and say, let's just pay 'em, you know, Herman's a big guy, he's doing great things for us, it's better just to, you know, to pay off and have these employees leave and put it under the table and be done with it.

PAPANTONIO: You don't do that, Ed, it doesn't happen. It doesn't happen unless there's ...

SCHULTZ: Well, I would imagine that ...

PAPANTONIO: ... unless there are prior problems. Now if you've got somebody ...

SCHULTZ: ... But if there's not prior problems, and wouldn't the National Restaurant Association be insured against stuff like this?

PAPANTONIO: Well, no, it depends on the policy, if it's an intentional act, you could, unless they had a policy for that, yeah, there's a specific policy. But Ed, listen, it doesn't, they don't just say we're going to pay this thing off unless there's other things out there that have happened and so, that's just the beginning. Politico's all over this. Look, look, do we know where it's going to go? I can't be sure. But I can tell you this. I've seen this same dynamic before and any time you've got a character with this kind of profile, the only positive thing Cain has at this moment is that he's not Mitt Romney, that's it.

All of which provides a useful demonstration of how Mike Papantonio is the last lawyer in the world you'd want to call if falsely accused of sexual harassment, regardless of your party affiliation.

Listen to Papantonio.
Don't even try to tell him Cain might not be a criminal. He won't have it.
This is their big chance. This is where they finally stop Cain from threatening Obama. It was a little scary there for a while but they finally got the SOB and Papantonio is not letting go.
That's it. Cancel the election.

Here's how they described

Submitted by ThisnThat on Wed, 11/02/2011 - 6:56am.

Here's how they described o'bama's 1996 Illinois Senate race victory: "As a community organizer, he had helped register thousands of voters. But when it came time to run for office, he employed Chicago rules to invalidate the voting petition signatures of three of his challengers."

Bill Clinton complained of unfair practices during o'bama's 2008 presidential campaign.

And now, o'bama is using everything he has against the GOP candidates, begining with Cain. Why else do you think a sitting president needs a $1B campaign war chest? And why else have dim pundits, even, said that the only way o'bama can win in 2012 is by negative campaigning? o'bama and his cronies are world-class enemies of the state.

Herman's "10 day" / "57 States" Problem

Submitted by Annie Ashe Fields on Wed, 11/02/2011 - 7:02am.

Take everything, and I mean EVERYTHING you've heard in the way of analysis on this Herman Cain nothing-burger sex story and you know what? You know what happened here? I know it down to my bones.

Herman thought the truth was enough.

10 days ago he blew it off, knowing he was innocent, and thought, "Well, I'll just tell the truth, if anything comes of it." NEVER thinking that anything WOULD because IT'S A NOTHING-BURGER.

Cain thought he had two shields of TRUTH between him and disaster, the nothingness of the story, and the simple telling of that truth.  That's how honorable people think... but he won't make that mistake again, now will he?

So now it's a "Why was't he prepared" for this story... Uh-huh...

Nobody found Obama's INEXPLICABLE flub on licenses for illegals disqualifying during the '08 campaign, remember?  Everybody's SURE Cain failed the crisis management test because of he didn't "prepare" for this when he had the warning, but, uh, gosh, nobody decided that Obama UTTERLY FAILING TO PREPARE FOR A FRIGGING LAYUP OF A QUESTION HILLARY ALREADY GOT SKEWERED FOR IN PREVIOUS DEBATE was a disqualifying event.  NEVER MIND his "57 states" remarks... One after the other that went unreported.

And Andrea Mitchell, this morning, actually lamented, out loud, on Morning Joe, that Herman's "getting a pass"...

Double/No Standard

Submitted by scottyusmc on Wed, 11/02/2011 - 7:01am.

Clinton paid Paula Jones over $800,000 in a settlement without having to admit guilt. By virture of this the MSM proclaimed Clinton innocent. On top of that, they asserted that it was "personal" and a "private" issue that should not matter.

Now, Cain has may be the same issue from 2-decades ago where a monetary settlement was reached and this is the media reaction???

These people are nothing if not shameless hacks with no moral or ethical compass. Pathetic doesn't even start t ocover it!!!

BUT - this is the difference.

Submitted by ThisnThat on Wed, 11/02/2011 - 7:57am.

BUT - this is the difference. And a big, big difference it is.

No one ever calls out the media on this stuff. Or, at least, it doesn't get through. They circle the wagons and protect their Communist goals of destroying this country. And if any one of them strays from the party line -- as evidenced by the recent attempt to shut down Sharyl Attkisson's questions on Fast & Furious -- the White House can count on MSM executives to ensure the proper punishment. After all, the regime must be protected, and only the most pure amongst us must be allowed to shape the news.

Wasn't there some allegations of impropriety against Shultz? Can't remember for sure. If so, would explain Shultz's "sympathy".

On two things specifically -- that Schultz allegedly shot his dog during the taping of an outdoor sportsman TV show in North Dakota in the '80s, and alleged abuse as basis for his first wife divorcing him.

Who gives a crap what they think,

Submitted by Boudin on Wed, 11/02/2011 - 8:01am.

They are happy with the corrupt cretin they currently have in office, and will have no say in who our Rep is. Anyone who has spent more then 5 minutes around Cain knows he has great character.

So far, the old media has tried to ruin:

Perry with a Rock

Bachmann with Gays

Santorum with more Gays

Romney with his faith

And Newt because he is able to buy his wife nice things.

This aint going to stop, in-fact I expect it's going to ramp up. Just remember Palin in 08 when they sent folks of these hacks up to Alaska to destroy her.

The pattern continues

Submitted by Galvanic on Wed, 11/02/2011 - 8:27am.

First, let's understand that regardless of what Cain did or didn't do 15 years ago, he and his staff have totally fumbled the ball on this. They had 10 days heads up that Politico was going forward with a story, and when it broke, Cain didn't have a consistent response, and thus has fueled the MSM's pursuit of the story.  Cain chalks it up as a lesson learned, but the effects may be lasting.

PAPANTONIO: ". . . this disgusting old sex freak . . ."

Considering what little is known about the facts, I would concur that Papantonio is completely unhinged, and had he made that remark in court, would be found in contempt of court.

The Left is nothing if not consistent in the build-up to the 2012 Election.  Conservative female Palin was seen as a big threat, so they jumped all over her.  Black conservative Cain has emerged as a threat, so they are jumping all over him.

They hit hard, they hit early, and they hit often.  The idea is to send a message to conservative women and minorities:  Don't even consider running against us.

Isn't this what the Clintons described as the 'politics of personal destruction?'
