GOP Losers in Wisconsin: Just 'Two Old White Guys,' Says Ed Schultz Producer
When it comes to gratuitous references to race, it doesn't get more gratuitous than this.
James "Holmy" Holm works as a producer for Ed Schultz on his radio and MSNBC shows. In addition to that, Holm often accompanies Schultz on his radio program and espouses his views on politics and the news of the day. (audio clip after page break)
Schultz and Holm were talking on Wednesday about the previous day's recall elections in Wisconsin that targeted six incumbent Republican state senators. Badger State Democrats needed to win at least three of the races to gain control of the state senate; they fell short by one.
Here's how Holm described the two Republican state senators who lost their elections, after Schultz complained about outside money that poured into the state to affect the outcome of the recalls (audio) --
HOLM: But the thing that's bothering me the most this morning as I wake up and read the headlines, listen to the radio, watch a little bit of television ...
SCHULTZ: That this is all about (Wisconsin Gov. Scott) Walker's victory. That's hogwash!
HOLM: ... This is a resounding win for Scott Walker, it validates everything he's tried to do to crush the workers of Wisconsin, this is the model for the country -- that couldn't be further from the truth. Scott Walker's policies last night cost two old white guys their jobs. And there's no doubt about it, those two people were Republican senators.
And being white, male and no longer young makes them utterly contemptible as far as Holm is concerned.
The late Boston radio host David Brudnoy coined a term for that cross section of humanity so reviled by Holm (and, oddly enough, much resembling him) -- the pale penis people.
It's worth noting that the two state senators maligned by Holm -- Randy Hopper and Dan Kapanke -- were not the only Caucasians to run in the recalls. So were all 10 other candidates, incumbents and challengers both. This did nothing to prevent Holm from playing the race card, especially with a losing hand.
Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I find it offensive when people are judged by the color of their skin and not the content of their character.
Incidentally, aren't "old white guys" a huge proportion of Social Security recipients that liberals like Holm often claim they're deeply concerned about? Roughly half, safe to say. (Blogger's note -- this overstates the percentage, although not for men overall).
Based on his previous remarks on Schultz's radio show, I believe Holm is in his 40s -- as is Hopper, 45, more than a decade younger than Schultz, who turned 57 in January. Kapanke is 63.

it seems to me is that the alternative to these two old white guys losing their job was 1500 teachers. But I guess you gotta break a few eggs...

Sounds like he was describing himself, except he left out the words fat and ignorant. Did comcast just buy this radical station for any particular reason besides loosing audiencese on a daily basis? Their personal reaches the gutter and Ed isn't even included in the ratings on the Drudge Report. Each show gets worse daily/nightly and comcast must be going broke, which would be a good thing. But surely soros and the white house would bail them out.

I heard that the Circle K chain was bought as a write off by some rich guy/group and ended up being successful, I don't think comcast will have that problem w/ MSNBSC.
Smart, incisive commentary...

in another thread, it seems the "terrorist" label did not stick so the new memo handed down by the White House said to go back and label your opponent a "racist" or start using the race card again.

I have seen evidence that the theme for the Messiah's reelection is " If you do not vote for Obama then you are a racist." Lefties do not ask for a link. Do your own research.

Campaign time. Gotta get those voters back out who are "inspired" by that race card, and that who never voted in their lives before 2008, and would never again if they don't get them out again. Not to mention many/most knew nothing about any candidate, only that they heard he could deliver a speech and that he was black. And heck, isn't that enough qualification to be President of the United States?

You can tell a lot about a man by the company he keeps, can't you? It's no wonder that Special Ed hasn't gotten any smarter with the people he keeps aroung him, like this idiot! In the words of that great philosopher Forrester Gump, STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES!

Uh, it was a resounding win for Walker. Democrats managed to get enough complainers to put up six elections in order to steal back the state power - and lost.
That's a win. No need to psychoanalyze it.
Leave it to Special Ed and crew to see victory in defeat

They had a lot invested in this recall. Blinded by their own ideology, they enthusiastically anticipated a Leftist counterattack that would spark similar popular action among the proletariate. They can't accept that the voters shot them down.
It's equivalent to losing the World Series 4 games to 2, and popping the champaign corks because they won 2 games.
They can paint this defeat as a victory for their audience, but serious Democratic strategists are now doubting the ability of unions to get out the vote in 2012. And the unions, who have been barking at Obama for not pushing things like card check, now have to bark a bit more softly.
And we still have two recalls to go in Wisconsin -- two Democratic Senators. Having initiated this recall process, the unions now have to expend a lot of resources to secure those seats or face the wrath of the Democratic Party for putting those seats at risk. Republicans, meanwhile, are not under similar pressure since they've secured control of the state senate.
He says this even though

his boss is a fat, out of shape white guy. Go figure. I had to look up Fat Ed's bio to check. I was amazed to learn that he is 2 years younger than I am. LoL. I am at least 50+ pounds lighter from carefully watching what I eat, am in much better physical overall shape, and this in spite of being paralyzed and in a wheelchair since 1988. I don't even care if he stays on his ratings challenged MSNBC show, because I am sure he is going to shuffle off to the hereafter a looooong time before I do. That will likely be due to eating too many fried pork rinds. If we are lucky, the big one will hit during one of his on-air rants.......They could use the ratings boost it would cause.
