Wanda Sykes Blames Tenn. Lawmakers for Tracy Morgan's Kill-My-Son-If-Gay Rant

By Jack Coleman | June 14, 2011 | 13:14

A  A

Tracy Morgan isn't responsible for what he says, not when he's in Nashville -- Republicans in the Tennessee legislature are, according to comedienne Wanda Sykes.

The "30 Rock" actor has generated considerable unease among fellow liberals in recent days, while also mercifully diverting attention from the aptly-named Weiner scandal, after it was reported that Morgan cut loose with a decidedly un-PC standup routine on June 3 in Nashville.

As initially reported by a blogger named Kevin Rogers on his Facebook page, Morgan said that "if his son was gay he better come home and talk to him like a man and not [he mimicked a gay, high pitched voice] or he would pull out a knife and stab that little N (one word I refuse to use) to death."

Morgan also said, according to Rogers, "that there is no way a woman could love and have sexual desire for another woman, that's just a woman pretending because she hates a f***ing man. ... that the gays needed to quit being p***ies and not be whining about something as insignificant as bullying ... that bullied kids should just bust some ass and beat those other little f***ers, not whine about it. ... how women should be home cooking him a f***ing meal and not becoming CEOs or him talking about f***ing the moms of retards."

After Rogers' posting went viral, Morgan quickly apologized but the debate over his remarks had just begun. The Huffington Post ran a story on reaction to Morgan's "homophobic rant," including these tweets from the openly gay Sykes --

Hey, just got back from family road trip. Ok, Tracy Morgan. Good thing I was busy because it would have been ugly, name calling. Pt 1

Had time to think. Tracy is just a dumb comic. I fault the TN lawmakers. They've created an anti-gay environment. Pt2

Don't believe Tracy would be so ignorant in LA, because we have a mayor, a city council, and police chief who believes (sic) we are all equal. Pt3

"Had time to think" and this is what Sykes concludes -- - that Tennessee Republicans are to blame for what Morgan considers humorous? One can only imagine her initial impression, that Morgan, oh say, must have been kidnapped and replaced by a gay-baiting pod comic.

Tennessee lawmakers are at fault, presumably as Sykes sees it, due to the state senate passing legislation that bans instruction about homosexuality in public schools.

And because Morgan was in Nashville when he said such vile things, he has no control over his own words, at least not to Sykes. Instead, the responsibility for what Morgan says clearly falls instead to Republicans in the legislature, what with their dastardly capacity for mind control over liberal comedians.

After all, as Sykes pointed out in one of her tweets, she didn't believe Morgan "would be so ignorant" in Los Angeles because "we have a mayor, a city council, and police chief" who believe "we are all equal."

In other words, had Morgan even tried to deliver the same shtick in LA, he would have been incapable of forming these thoughts because the public figures cited by Sykes absolve all dutiful liberals of thinking for themselves.

OK this is TYPICAL

Submitted by OldJarhead77 on Tue, 06/14/2011 - 1:35pm.

If a black man says anything that might reveal that deep in his heart he has some (Ohh dare I say) "Conservative values" Those deep values he got from going to church, and understanding what Christianity believes about homosexuals?..... What his Grandma and Momma told him about what marriage is? If that happens its up to ANOTHER Black person to declare that its either:
1. "ITS WHITEYS FAULT"
2. That (N*&&a's) CRAZY/STUPID... or
3. He/She is an Uncle Tom/Aunt Jemimia
This is typical, and is why most black comics won't broach the subject, because what happens? Real feelings leak out into the routine and once they come out they can't he taken back. So Sykes did Number one and Number two on my list. If Morgan doesn't appologize within the next 24 hours, what do you want to bet that Number 3 won't be far behind?.

Wanda Sykes - you're a total MORON

Submitted by greggy on Tue, 06/14/2011 - 2:18pm.

And you say Tracy Morgan's just a dumb comic. I guess in this case it it takes one to know one, because your "logic" is pure idiocy. Tracy spoke the words, but he's not responsible. Tennessee's government is. If the same "rules of racism" were applied here that the left so often uses, Wanda's statement would be considered outrageously racist. According to Wanda, Tracy Morgan, a black man, is not responsible for his own thoughts and words. He can't help what he thinks and says, he's just a dumb comic (who happens to be black). Wanda tries to absolve Tracy of responsibility for his own words and thoughts, by blaming white people - that seems quite racist to me. Her desperate and pathetic attempt at absolving Morgan rather than attacking him, is racially motivated, as is her desperate and pathetic attempt to transfer that blame to white people. Rush Limbaugh's axiom comes to mind - "a glittering jewel of colossal ignorance". This is pure delusional thinking.

Sykes

Submitted by jessieH on Tue, 06/14/2011 - 3:07pm.

What is her training, why should we listen to anything she says? Is she some sort of expert? No. She's an actress, nothing more. She's not a roll model. Listening to her makes as much sense as listening to Charly Sheen.

We can listen to her. We can just boo what she says. The point is, there are weak-minded and dumb people who are influenced by the idiotic comments from people like her, so it's essential that people like us know what's being said, so we can refute it.

Submitted by Rackie on Tue, 06/14/2011 - 4:26pm.

Last time I was in Nashville I drank way too much bourbon and made some inappropriate comments to some sweet young things half my age. Since in no way would I do that at home it is very possible that there is some State House voodoo magic going on in Middle Tn. Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Sweetie, it's the 21st century. Please come to Tennessee and we'll show ya. We's just like you folks (and by you folks I mean anybody north of the Mason-Dixon line, and west of the Mississippi?). We have compooters and cell-u-lar telephones and everthang, although some of us do still run around pregnant and barefoot (but theys white trash). Why we'uns here in Nashvul have even had a Black and a Hispanic Chief of Police. And we gots all kind of folks on our city councils.  And somethang we're just as pleased as punch about...we got some motels that have cable AND cement ponds.

Why, we love everybody in the whole, wide world. We gots people from all over who come here just to eat some vittles at the Loveless Cafe, and go to see Little Jimmy Dickens at the Opry.  We even have this big ole park over yonder that has a funny lookin odd shaped building with big pillars that looks like somethin over in someplace called Greece I think?

You'll just love it, I know you will.  So, to paraphrase what Uncle Jed says (that means to say somethin almost like he would say it?), ya'll come on down, take yore shoes off (and let your dogs breath) and set a spell.  Then get up and get out, and don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya.   Idiot.

I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'.

She ruins movies

Submitted by jon_torlin on Tue, 06/14/2011 - 7:26pm.

Last couple movies I saw her in was"Evan Almighty" and "My Super Ex-Girlfriend."

Both of those movies would have been a LOT funnier with some other comedian actor/actress, she just pretty much ruined "Evan" and had a much smaller part in "Super" but damn near ruined that one.

Now I try to avoid her unless it's a real small part and she's not one of the main characters.

Tracy Morgan had

Submitted by dreamsincolor on Wed, 06/15/2011 - 12:22am.

One of the funniest skits on SNL with the Brian Fellows bit. He is a comedian, in this day and age, if you don't say crazy stuff you don't get noticed.

From what I read, he wasn't bashing gays, he was bashing people that don't stand up for themselves and own their decisions.

You would think that message would play well anywhere in the country especially with all the focus on bullying..

Or did I read this wrong?

Everything Wanda said was idiotic.
