Rachel Maddow Praises Fox News, Frigid Winter Forecast for Hell

Every now and then, though not often, MSNBC has its moments.

Like when one of its left-wing pundits has something good to say about Fox News. Yes, that Fox News.

On her cable show Thursday night, Maddow and Democratic strategist Joe Trippi were discussing a poll conducted by Opinion Dynamics and reported by Fox.

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

The poll found that 53 percent of respondents oppose current health reform legislation while 33 percent support it. Respondents were also asked whether Obama apologizes too much for past US policies, if his schedule makes Obama look more like a candidate on the campaign than president, and whether federal spending should be reduced now or reductions deferred to future generations.

Maddow argued that the survey was, in effect, a push poll due to the sequence of its questions; Trippi disagreed --

MADDOW:  But if polling companies are being paid by opinion media to ask questions that are, when did you stop beating your wife senator questions, do they have a responsibility to not do that? If polling is being used as a form of campaigning, do they have a responsibility to say, no, we're not going to ask that?

TRIPPI: Yeah, I think that, absolutely, absolutely. But I would say that when I looked at some of those questions I thought they were among some of the more interesting questions I've seen asked in a while. I'm not sure, in other words, was it a bunch of folks saying, hey, let's ask these interesting questions that led in ...

MADDOW (chuckling): Uhm hmm ...

TRIPPI:  ... No, no, and I mean that. I mean, like, I really think it is an interesting question, is President Obama campaigning too much or is he president? Do you see him as a campaigner or president? I think that's a very interesting question. Should it have been right in front of the health care question? I don't know the answer, I'm not a pollster. But my point is, that's more like the AP (referring to AP poll that found rise in Obama's approval rating) should they, how did they get their sample wrong? I'm not prepared to, I know we're all, Fox this (motions arm dismissively), you know, all that. I just don't, I have a very high opinion of Opinion Dynamics and I don't think the Fox News organization necessarily went there. I don't think that's what happened here. And again, I think the message to progressives should be, who cares? Let's dig in, the White House, let's get the votes, let's organize for a public option. Let's do the things that we think are right and who gives, who cares whether there was something wrong in the AP poll or the way Fox asked its questions.

MADDOW:  And that's why I wanted to have you on about it because to me it seems like this is, this sort of comes with a foghorn on it in terms of Republicans being cautionary about it. I'm not saying, you're saying we're all supposed be Fox's (crosstalk), wait, let me, you sort of cast aspersions on me ...

TRIPPI:  No I did not!

MADDOW: Yeah you did! By saying we're all supposed to say that Fox News is X. I actually don't have that sort of opinion about Fox. I think they're a fairly diverse organization, but in this case I think that the fact that they have become the de facto news organization of the Republican Party, that the Republican Party takes their information disproportionately from Fox ...

TRIPPI: Well ...

MADDOW: ... wait ...

TRIPPI: ... yeah ...

MADDOW: ... is a problem if what Fox is doing is telling a conservative audience what they want to hear.

As if Maddow isn't telling her liberal audience what they want to hear on a nightly basis. Except in those rare instances when she'll dig deep to summon praise for the dreaded Fox.

Come to think of it, wasn't Maddow pitching her services to Fox before she began working at MSNBC?

Maddow is...

...could very well be seeing the writing on the wall, and could be looking to jump the sinking ship that is MSLSD...

Awake the sleeping giant...and that giant is WE THE PEOPLE!

AGENTAMERICA...

Maddow is smart enough to know a bad broadcasting situation when she sees one, she DID work at AirAmerica. So if things are as bad as many of us think(hope) it is at MSNBC, where would she go? Look, she will land on her feet somewhere, but it would'nt be at Fox. Maybe CNN, but I guess that GE/NBC would keep her as a contributer for NBCnews. Her show sucks, but she's not an idiot like Shuster, Olby, Matthews, O'Donnell, the other anchorettes, or the idiot regular guests. Like Eugene Robinson or Howard Fineman. She would be eased into the flagship.

On the other hand, I could see her on Mtv News. Along with Kurt Loder & Tabitha Soren, Maddow could bring Allison back to Mtv News to make them a force in the American media once again. Could'nt be any worse then MSNBC, & lets face it, Sway would be more acceptable then Chris Matthews interviewing people. His questions would be no worse, but he can actually LISTEN to the interviewee answer.

Obama - a campainger, or a leader?

Do you see him as a campaigner or a president? I think that's a very interesting question.

Indeed - most folks, including a few rather liberal columnists have been suggesting that he stop the campaigning and start acting like a president -- Mmm. President... leader?

Gee, we wonder why he received the Nobel Peace Prize. Leaders don't get that anymore.

Suddenly it all makes sense. No wonder we got Obama instead of Dr. Seuss.

"Frigid Winter Forecast

"Frigid Winter Forecast From Hell" indeed. Followed by at least one solid week of Fox-bashing to appease her looney left- wing viewers for that inadvertent slip of tongue.

Good for Rachel

Is it possible that someone working at MSNBC might actually want to do a show that's respectable?  I can't really see any of these networks being willing to have the diverse opinions like those expressed on Fox News.  On most of the other networks you have a choice between liberal and and really liberal.  If they need a token conservative, you can be sure they're, for the most part, conservative light.

Someone will probably take Rachel into the closet and talk to her about that.  They certainly don't want to say anything positive about Fox News.

Election 2008-God's way of showing us that elections count.

I'm not getting the praise

I'm not getting the praise part. She claims to not believe Fox is such and such, then follows it up by saying Fox is exactly what she just finished saying it isn't, lol.

That Maddow fellow is right...

Good for him!!

don't ask, don't tell

she seems like a nice little boy

The Government is the Enemy

Beck & Maddow

Wouldn't this be interesting?  Fox announces new program  "  Beck and Maddow Show  ".

America news media as a

America news media as a whole is too isolationist.  The MSM doesn't cover europe or rest of the world for that matter.  It strictly focuses on domestic political issues and promoting the liberal agenda.  It's liberal propaganda 100% of the time.  Fox News is by far the most balanced but still focuses solely on domestic news but thank goodness it exists to dispel the myths and lies propagated by the MSM

I like Fox News for the commentary more than anything but a lot of the hard news I get from bits and pieces found on different websites.

There is a lot of news american news media won't cover that is extremely important.  The left wing media doesn't cover in order to keep reality from clashing with the world view they like to sell to people.  Show people what they want to turn us into...

Most people who vote democrat don't even keep up with political infighting in europe, their economic troubles, or corruption.  They don't want to see the atrocities islamic terrorists commit.

Covering Europe's dirt just like they cover ours would help Fox dispel the lies of the left.  Show us Socialist France!  Give us reports on their failures.  You aren't going to appreciate America unless you travel or watch the "real" world in the news. Show us the worlds ugly face, the nitty gritty failures of socialist governments, the failures of UN peacekeepers, etc.

Rachel Maddow at Fox News?

Rachel Maddow at Fox News?  Somehow, I can't imagine her sitting at the same desk with someone like Charles Krauthammer.  His intellect and insight would tear her hysterical, incoherent diatribe to shreds in microseconds.  Perhaps watching her getting destroyed five times a week would be entertaining.

" ... that the Republican

" ... that the Republican Party takes their information disproportionately from Fox ..." Rachel, that is because that the rest of the so-called news media is a propaganda arm for the DNC.

During WWII, should America got an equal amount of information about Germany from Joseph Goebbels and Leni Riefenstahl, instead of disproportionately from various sources such as the Polish government in exile, the Brits, the Czechs, etc?  Why would the Republican Party take info from sources that the population perceive 2 to 1 as being left biased?  Sometimes the stupidity proceding from your mouth is amazing.
