Big Three Networks Devote a Scant 36 Seconds to Obama's 'Lazy' Gaffe
According to Politico, Barack Obama's "lazy" gaffe is "catching fire," but you wouldn't know that if you got your news from the major networks. The President's remark, made at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation conference in Hawaii on November 12, that "We've been a little bit lazy" in attracting "new business into America" received a grand total of just 36 seconds on the Big Three (ABC, CBS, NBC) morning and evening news shows. In contrast, Herman Cain's long pause -- when answering a question about Libya on November 15 -- generated 11 segments on the Big Three networks in just two days. This, of course, was on top of the Big Three's frenzy over women accusing Cain of sexual harassment.
The tiny bit of coverage of Obama's "lazy" remark came during Kelly O'Donnell's report on Monday's Today show. O'Donnell initially played a soundbite of GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney criticizing the President and then offered the official Obama campaign response.
The following excerpt from O'Donnell's November 14 Today show report represents the sum total of coverage of Obama's "lazy" gaffe on all the Big Three networks:
KELLY O'DONNELL: Campaigning in South Carolina, Mitt Romney stayed focused on President Obama.
MITT ROMNEY: I don't think that President Obama understands America. Now, say that because this week, or was it last week, that he said that Americans are lazy. I don't think that describes America.
O'DONNELL: Now, the President had used the word "lazy" when he was talking to CEOs, saying that the U.S. should have done more to attract business here. Now other Republicans have jumped on that "lazy" word too. But the President's re-election campaign only responded to Romney saying that when he was CEO he was more concerned about out-sourcing than helping the middle class. Ann?

When you think about it, he's saying that these kids are growing up just like him. They can go their whole life, never learn Shiite, never have a job, vote "present" everyday, and STILL end up president. Is this a great country or what!!

this is a very nice list, and it also illustrates why the "lazy" remark wasn't a gaffe. "corpse-man" was a gaffe. "Americans are lazy" is what Obama thinks of us. different thing entirely.

look. I love Herman Cain as much as the next tea partier. but he simply does not know enough to be president. he just doesn't.
to see him squirm on that Libya question was painful. and his response the next day: "well, that's because *I* think before I speak," delivered to cheers, was even more painful. no Herman, you didn't pause to collect your thoughts. you choked because you had NO IDEA how to answer the question. he's known that foreign policy was his weakness but he did nothing to change that. apparently, he's PROUD of it.
there is a "know-nothing" strain in the tea party that is very troubling to me. these are the same people who blamed the MSM for Christine O'Donnell's defeat in 2010. the fact that she was a dreadful candidate didn't occur to them. just like then, the Cain-iacs blame the media, the Democrats, Rick Perry, anyone but Herman Cain.
Cain would probably make a great secretary of the Treasury, but president? uh-uh.

So in this very speech, he calls Americans the “best workers in the world.”
In fact, we did a word search on “most productive workers” on the White House website and found Obama has used that phrase to describe American workers in 26 different speeches. In those speeches and others, he calls Americans “innovative,” “dynamic” and “hard-working.”
I suppose I’ll be hearing how Factcheck and Politifact are leftist George Soros funded organizations (or something like that). It’s always either one or the other or both (I keep forgetting) – but it pretty much depends on what their conclusions are. And yet that is never suggested when either is used to "fact check" a rare truthful Republican narrative.
And we've only just begun. I can only imagine the "Swift-Boating" we'll be seeing out of the "whatever it takes" Republicans this time around. Again, no shame.:(
