ABC and NBC Spike Eric Holder’s 'Fast and Furious' Testimony

NBC and ABC in their evening and morning newscasts completely ignored the grilling Eric Holder received on Capitol Hill on Tuesday, over his role in the Fast and Furious scandal. Senate Republicans forced Holder to admit his initial statements to Congress about his department’s role in gunwalking were "inaccurate," and that he never apologized to the family of a Border Agent killed by a Mexican drug cartel that used guns from the Fast and Furious operation. Only Sharyl Attkisson, in two full reports aired on Tuesday’s Evening News and Wednesday’s The Early Show, relayed the testimony that ABC and NBC blacked out on their broadcasts.

Attkisson, who was berated by the Obama White House and even momentarily benched by CBS, for her role in covering the story, ran down the pertinent details in the following story aired on the November 8 edition of CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley:

SCOTT PELLEY: Sharyl Attkisson helped uncover the gunwalking scandal, in which agents of the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms let thousands of weapons cross the border so they could be traced to Mexican drug lords. Many of those guns were later used in violent crimes. Today, Sharyl tells us that Attorney General Eric Holder was grilled about the program at a Senate hearing.

SHARYL ATTKISSON: For the first time Attorney General Holder made the difficult admission to Congress.

ERIC HOLDER, ATTORNEY GENERAL: Any instance of so-called gunwalking is simply unacceptable. Regrettably this tactic was used as part of Fast and Furious.

ATTKISSON: That also means a letter Holder's office sent Congress last February, denying gunwalking, was wrong.

HOLDER: What I said is that it contains inaccurate information.

SEN. JON CORNYN: Well isn't that false?

HOLDER: Well false - I don't want to quibble with you, but false, I think, implies people making a decision to deceive.

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

ATTKISSON: Holder defended his own actions.

HOLDER: I took action. I asked the Department's inspector general to investigate this matter.

ATTKISSON: But Republicans hammered away, asking about Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, who was murdered last December by Mexican drug cartel members. Two assault rifles from ATF's gunwalking operation Fast and Furious, were found at the scene.

CORNYN: Would you like to apologize today for this, this program that went so wrong, that it took the life of a United States law enforcement agent?

HOLDER: I certainly regret what happened to Agent Brian Terry. It is not fair, however, to assume that the mistakes that happened in Fast and Furious directly led to the death of Agent Terry.

ATTKISSON: Today Terry's father had a harsh assessment, saying everyone responsible should be prosecuted.

KENT TERRY, FATHER OF BRIAN TERRY: And I think they should be prosecuted for not just my son, for all the people they murdered in Mexico.

ATTKISSON: Democrats repeatedly raised a separate gunwalking operation, started under President Bush, which we first reported on last March. Attorney General Holder said he didn't know much about that either, but hopes his inspector general gets to the bottom of it all.

PELLEY: Thanks Sharyl.

When you read Holder's testimony, don't forget that he is . . .

Submitted by Galvanic on Wed, 11/09/2011 - 5:49pm.

. . . the Attorney General of the United States, and the highest ranking law enforcement officer what Obama promised would be the most transparent Administration ever.

It pained me to listen to his testimony on the radio today. Holder is not only incompetent, but he's a liar as well.

He must be removed one way or another.

You know what is so frustrating..

is that I try to tell people I know about liberal media bias and then just look blankly at me. My own sister had not heard about Fast and Furious until I told her about it in early October.

Eric Holder should either be

Submitted by marpel on Wed, 11/09/2011 - 5:54pm.

Eric Holder should either be in jail or at least fired.

Does it really surprise

Does it really surprise anyone that they would fail to report it?

Obama and Eric Holder are the criminals best friends

Submitted by ohio granny on Wed, 11/09/2011 - 6:19pm.

They are both liars to boot. They both should be in prison for the crimes they have committed. They are criminals and thugs best friends. 2013 cannot come soon enough when they are both forced out of office. Between Nov. 2012 and Jan. 2013 when a republican takes the oath of office, the Congress must be very vigilant because they will be trying to destroy any and everything they can.

Of course NBC and ABC are

Submitted by celator on Wed, 11/09/2011 - 8:44pm.

Of course NBC and ABC are avoiding the Holder testimony. If it were an R Attorney General on the hot seat, however, they would have the gallows already constructed, the rope purchased and the noose formed. The black hood would be on a table nearby, and the R Attorney General would be shackled and pushed up the stairs.

Sorta like the treatment Mr. Cain is being currently afforded by the MSM. And Clarence Thomas. And Alberto Gonzales. And Judge Bork. And how Romney will be treated if nominated.

This is a little off-topic,

Submitted by killa37 on Wed, 11/09/2011 - 9:05pm.

This is a little off-topic, but it still coincided with the say that the REGIME and the MSM operate with regards to telling their side of the story, or their version of what they think should be told. I've just read that the White House is trying to downplay Sarkozy's remark about Netenyahu being a 'liar' - probably because he was talking to Boy Barry at the time...........they really didn't focus on what O'Bama said in response to Sarkozy...........and on top of that, they are saying that the whole thing was a 'private conversation', so they're not going to do any follow-up on it - other than 'damage control'!!!

This whole Fast and Furious thing can be re-named False and Ficticious, as far as the White House and the REGIME's view of it goes.................they've only 'heard' or 'read' about it, and it's 'unfortunate', and it will have some 'lasting damage'.........but, really, you can't blame US, can you??? We heard about it, just like you did!!!!

These guys (and gals - if you can call them that) are ALL criminals, and they should ALL be sent to Gitmo - the moooooooooooooooslems down there will figure out what to do with them. Well, maybe not Big Sis Incompetano.........these guys are used to nice looking goats and donkeys, you know???

There are only so many minutes in a broadcast

Submitted by Chaitealover on Wed, 11/09/2011 - 9:15pm.

and we all know that it's more important to use those minutes to smear Herman Cain than it is to tell the American people what their government is doing.

Gun Control

Submitted by Peter-in-NYC on Thu, 11/10/2011 - 1:01pm.

At FirearmsTruth.com it has been noted that this is really just an operation to make it appear that gun control is the agenda. President Obama said to Sarah Brady he was working on gun control but "under the radar."

Senator Dianne Feinstein has defended the ATF and called for gun control. She, along with Charles Schumer (NY) and Sheldon Whitehouse (RI) have called for a ban on assault weapons. This is all part of the same sinister plan.

What I hope is that gun control will be part of the 2012 election. I hope the NRA makes it part of the 2012 election and I hope the GOP canidates make it part of the 2012 election. That could help turn the election and ensure Obama is sent packing.
