Chris Matthews Calls Michele Bachmann a 'Zombie'

By Geoffrey Dickens | January 04, 2011 | 19:38

Echoing his Election Night accusation that Michele Bachman was "hypnotized" Chris Matthews, on Tuesday's Hardball, called the Minnesota Republican congresswoman a "zombie" as he insultingly asked GOP strategist Todd Harris to identify who Bachmann is getting her "orders from?" Matthews made the comment during a discussion about raising the debt ceiling and the Hardball host, who is fond of making cinematic comparisons, even referenced Hollywood horror screen legend Boris Karloff in his over-the-top slam of Bachmann, as seen in this exchange from the January 4 edition of Hardball:

(video after the jump)

CHRIS MATTHEWS TO GOP STRATEGIST TODD HARRIS: Let's listen to Michele Bachmann, your new boss. By the way she may be a zombie answering to somebody out there, Boris Karloff, I don't know who's giving her orders but here she is on the debt ceiling. Let's listen to her.

(Begin clip)

REP. MICHELE BACHMANN: I am not in favor of raising the debt ceiling. As a matter of fact I have a petition that I'm urging people to sign at MichelePAC.com to urge their member of Congress not to raise the debt ceiling.

(End clip)

MATTHEWS: Do you hear that? Who she get her orders from?

Listen to Matthews.

He obviously thinks he's much much smarter than Michele Bachman as his little insults demonstrate.  It must be because he has a show with his name in the title.  If memory serves me there was once another guy on MSNBC who was convinced he was the smartest guy in the room at all times but then he got fired.  David I believe his name was and now Mr. I have my own cable news show is reduced to begging to guest host on radio shows no one has ever heard of.    Somehow I don't think Matthews would fare any better.

Time to Play "Name That Hypocrite"

Submitted by IrateNate on Tue, 01/04/2011 - 8:02pm.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better."

Sen. B.H. Obama, 2006

What is Matthew's problem

What is Matthew's problem with attractive conservative women?

Not so sure about that, but pretty sure that Tingles is a suppository.

Maybe they don't have an affect on him anymore.  After all, it was a man who gave him a "thrill up his leg".

The truth is Chris Matthews,

Submitted by shannon76 on Tue, 01/04/2011 - 8:22pm.

The truth is Chris Matthews, after a number of years of being considered a 'fair/objective' journalist who 'calls it like he sees it', has been called to the mat the past few years for being the Peace Corp Lefty hack that he really is. And he's been rightly butchered and beaten for all of his faux pas, particularly over the past few years. It eats at him too. You can tell he HATES being called out for his love for Obama. Look back and see how ticked off he gets if you tell him how he had a 'tingle' up his leg. He'll roll his eyes, as if saying, 'oh brother, not that again...', and then he'll scream, "I said 'thrill'. Not tingle!" Every time.

The guy's reputation has gone through the blender.

And I suspect that's why he's so brazen about using ad hominem's on Republican elected officials. He's using adolescent schoolboy tactics because there's no use in pretending to be a by the book journalist. Why pretend...

Her Orders?

Submitted by Cyborg 0427 on Tue, 01/04/2011 - 8:29pm.

Does anyone think it just may be the American people? Maybe the people from her district? I think the question is 'who is Matthews getting his orders from?" To consider or even suggest raising the debt ceiling at this point is is literally moronic. Just how much more of this country do goofballs like this idioit want to sell to China? He needs to change the name of his show to GOOFBALL.

You can lead a liberal to logic but you can't make them think.

There seems to be alot of

Submitted by Snappy on Tue, 01/04/2011 - 8:31pm.

There seems to be alot of "talk" around cutting the deficit. Appearantly thats all it is though is talk, the consenses is that the debt ceiling must be raised (why?) and the only sensible way to cut the deficit is to raise taxes on the rich. Bachman and a few others on the other hand seem to think that cutting spending will reduce the deficit, what a novel idea. If spending is cut then there really is no reason to raise the debt ceiling is there? But no, Mathews subscribes to the all talk and let someone else (the rich) bear the brunt of the spending binge that has occured in Washington for quite some time.

Well hold on let me get a piece of paper

Submitted by hbnolikeee on Tue, 01/04/2011 - 9:59pm.

You say if I don't spend I am actually saving.  Gee,  I gotta get out a calculator or sumpthin like that to figure this one out (sarc off).

This is the spend and print administration.  If I had known,  I would have bought all the gold I could and see if I could invest in the company the FEDs buy the ink and paper they use to manufacture the toilet paper that used to be out currency.

The only zombie seems to be in Tingle's head

Submitted by neutron on Tue, 01/04/2011 - 9:41pm.

Tingle repeated his dull knife poke at Bachman several times on election night, and each time the jab fared less well than the previous one. All around the blogosphere, including lefties, told Tingle that he was wrong on his Election Night harrangue.

Recycling long-dead lines that dropped dead on the night he first tried them, several months ago... there's the zombie, the reanimated dead, staggering, drooling, and moaning to the annoyance of people who still are alive enough to think of fresh material.

The only zombies seen here are Tingle's brain and the tired dead dull knife pokes he won't let go of.

Classic Sour Grapes

Matthews denigrates what he cannot have: Bachmann, Palin, Haley; all professional, respected, successful, very attractive women who would not give him the time of day. The women who would all look like Will Ferrell dressed up as Janet Reno packing a whip. "C'mon Chrissy. It's time for your therapy."

Chrissy is a Sad Old Man!!

Submitted by gruyere cheese on Wed, 01/05/2011 - 9:47am.

I pitty the woman who  married this old hag! Calling women names does not help you score points with the public. If you have a point to make, make it without insulting someone's intelligence. Then again, Chrissy was probably a bully in elementary school, high school and probably in the work place (MessNBC).

His disdain for intelligent, attractive women is so obvious one has to wonder what happened in his childhood that turned him into the sad and vile idiot he is today.

Note to Crissy: Life is too short dude - you are not getting any younger. We are supposed to get softer, respect people and embrace life as we get older; not turn into a miserable old cook like yourself...but, I digress. Why are liberals such unhappy, miserable people?

Chris "The Thrill" Matthews

Submitted by Airforce_5_O on Wed, 01/05/2011 - 12:25pm.

Obama-Crush Chris is really having a hard time with this new Congress.  They want to cut Government spending (which goes against every Progressive ideal out there), get rid of earmarks (again cutting spending), adhere to the Constitution (another problem for the progressive agenda), and repeal health care. She is getting her “orders” from the people who elected her Chris. It is an amazing concept that she is actually fulfilling her Campaign promises to cut wasteful Government spending, unlike Chris’s Honey Bun in the White House.  I bet you that isn’t a thrill running up his leg anymore. It’s more like some pressure from the back side.
