Chris Matthews, on Monday's "Hardball," showcased "Saturday Night Live" skewering Joe Biden but he conspicuously ignored the "Weekend Update" clip, from the same show, making fun of his fondness for Obama in which he was depicted as daydreaming about Obama in a "loin cloth." The MRC's Brent Baker caught the clip from this past Saturday's show making fun of Matthews. However Matthews -- who in the past has enjoyed SNL's Darrell Hammond's impersonations of him so much that he invited the impressionist on his MSNBC show -- ignored the most recent quip made at his expense.
The following moment was aired during the "Sideshow" segment on the April 13 edition of "Hardball":
CHRIS MATTHEWS: Welcome back to "Hardball." First up it's "Saturday Night Live!" Do you know who you're Vice President is? Well the team at "SNL" would have you think he is this.

The one here is about VP Biden and frankly, fair or not, it is hard to see a skit against a sitting VP that has numerous gaffes to his credit as an attack. Perhaps if they would have done it during the election cycle where it would have reflected on Obama's choice of VP it would have been balance but now it is just a long over due look at a politician with foot-in-mouth disease.

April 15, 2009 - 05:09 ET by AgnosticNot surprising that I would miss the skits since I watch very little TV anymore but I really don't remember people talking about skits that were actually about President Obama. I'll take your word for though as it is inconsequential.
You are also correct about striking while the ‘iron was hot’ on Governor Palin. The trouble is that there was plenty of ammo for everyone during the elections but only Palin was relentlessly attacked. I don’t think Palin could be ready for a presidential run, if ever, for at least another 6-7 years and that will depend on how the next race goes. But one thing is sure and that is the media will attack at the first sign of her trying to get on the national stage again.
What was really sad was the fact that people still quote the SNL skits that made Palin look bad as actual quotes that she said. It is one thing to be against a certain politician or political body but at least be intelligent enough to know the real reason your against them and not just following in ignorance. BTW, there is a reason the ‘news’ channels played the skits from SNL so much and that is because they knew that many of their watchers would not know the difference between the skit and reality. Very Sad!
